Defence Lawyer Sunday Nkonde has recessed himself from representing former works and Supply Minister Gabriel Namulambe .

This is in a matter where Mr Namulambe is charged with theft by public servant involving 20 Bicycles.

Mr Nkonde has cited conflict of interest as the reason he has recessed himself from representing Mr Namulambe.

He told the Lusaka Magistrates court that former mines Minister Maxwell Mwale who is also his client has been earmarked as prosecutors witness in Mr Namulambe’s case.

Mr Namulambe’s matter is before Lusaka principal residents magistrate Wilfred Muma.

He was arrested over two weeks ago for allegedly diverting 20 bicycles meant for small scale miners.

meanwhile, the Lusaka Magistrates court has adjourned Mr Namulambe’s trial to April 10th. This followed an aplication by Mr Namulambe.

Mr Namulmabe has applied that he be given ample time to look for another lawyer.

  1. ??? Max Mwale who is facing charges of stealing bikes has now become a state witness against his former cabinet colleague, also accused of stealing bikes! Comedy of errors continues.

  2. Maxwell Mwale has even more serious allegations levelled against him – selling prospecting and mining licences to his relatives and business associates, so he does not qualify for any immunity from prosecution. His is not only a simple theft, but a serious economic crime because mining is the lifeline of our country!!
