The Zambia police service has arrested one person believed to be behind the murder of the pilot and the security guard in Livingstone on the 18th April 2012.
Police spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela says the suspect identified as Frank Muloshi aged 20, of Chilobela village in Livingstone was nabbed by police today, April 24, 2012 around 10:00 hours when he was being pursued by the members of the public.
Others being pursued are suspects by the names of Lucky Dube aged 26 of house number 10, Libuyu compound and Ronny Crispin Mfulo aged 25 of Nalime village in Livingstone both believed to be of foreign nationality were apprehended on Sunday after a tip of from members of the public.
The three are charged with two counts of murder contrary to section 200, three counts of aggravated robbery contrary to section 294 and one count of attempted murder contrary section 215 of cap 87 of the laws of Zambia.

Lucky Dube is back!
It was not Police who arrested, it was members of public or other words citizens-arrest. I don’t think Zambian Police can manage to arrest anyone, the way conditions are at the moment.

These suspects are behind the murder of THE pilot? And THE security guard? I presume he was the one and only pilot in Zambia. And the other guy the one and Only security gvard in the country. Where are Zambian journalists getting their schooling from?
I guess they are saying “the pilot” and “the security guard” because the story was published before, so it is a follow up to “the same pilot” and “the same security guard” who were earlier reported about.

Suspects or guilty? which one is which? if they are just suspects why charge them with two counts of murder?? you may be holding innocent people while culprits are moving around the streets freely…..
I hope they have caught the right people. ZP is fond of bungling such cases. We as a country and the family of the deceased need closure. This case must be genuinely concluded.
Higher Tailer. The definite article “the” is used in front of any noun the listener or reader already knows about. So the journalists are justified in using the definite article “the” because these two people are no longer an unknown quantity since they have already been identified. “A pilot and a security guard were killed at a hotel” means that we do not know the specifics of the people involved and the hotel except that the people who were killed were a pilot and a security guard..
Ok, good but what is the evidence against these people? I hope the case is based on more than a “tip from members of the public”. Members of the public accuse each other of witchcraft too.
Senior Engineer Retired. Thanks for your response. You know the rules but you haven’t noticed that they are not applied in this particular story. Read the intro (or the first sentence) and you are immediately confronted with the definite article. The writer has to first of all introduce the subjects IN THIS STORY. He or she cannot assume that everybody who reads this article knows the pilot and the security guard from details provided in an earlier article. So the “ …….reader already knows about” cannot be applied in this case. It is a poorly written article.
