The United Party for National Development- UPND-has refuted media reports suggesting that the party is falling apart after the recent saga involving its member William Banda.
UPND Deputy Spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa says Mr. Banda’s actions did not represent the actions of UPND and have no capacity to divide the party.
He described the reports as unfounded and without substance as the party is still intact.
Mr. Mweetwa has also castigated National Restoration President Elias Chipimo for his remarks against UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema in one of Sunday’s tabloids.
Mr. Mweetwa says Zambia is a democratic state as such Mr.Chipimo should know that in a democracy, the need to respect divergent views is paramount.
He was speaking in an interview with ZNBC news in Livingstone on Sunday.
Opposition NAREP leader Elias Chipimo is quoted in one of the daily newspapers as saying Mr. Hichilema should concentrate on developmental issues instead of fighting Republican President Michael Sata.
UPND…Zambia’s only Hope…or we keep complaining. This party is focused.
In your dreams, UPND will never rule especially if the tribalist HH is at the Helm of it. I would only vote for that party if that ***** your HH leaves.

My advice to the Upnd team is that be strong & couragious bcoz these are tough times for Zambia. Upnd welcome William Banda to join the polical party bcoz he enjoys that right & all willing Zambians are still very welcome to join Upnd regardless of where they are, whether in prison or free Upnd is open to everyone. Mr Mweetwa we love you & your team. & please go East, go CB, Go Luapula, Nothern etc let the people know that Upnd cares & suffers with the ordinary Zambians. Thumbs Upnd.

Even when everyone is free to join any party, you do not allow a criminal to come and represent your party. Having Wiliam Banda as the party’s advisor is like UPND shooting it self in the foot. When did William ever bcome advisor to HH, we its just some paper’s propaganda & they are just scared of HH. So get it right that Willian Banda is not a mere cader of UPND but was given a position as the special advisor to the UPND president -HH at joining the party (UPND).

But yo HH was a miserable 3rd he even failed to congragulate MCS for winning the polls. HH is a freemason so was late Mazoka who @ that time said that he went as an observer. Mweetwa is Deputy Spokesperson but he carries himself and behaves like the Party Spokesperson himself while Mr. Kakoma takes a low profile. Could it be that in the Bantustan scheme of things, Mweetwa, nbeing who he is is closer to the powers that be than the Official Party Spokesperson????

William Banda is member of UPND but not the special advisor to HH. UPND has a very formidable team that it can never ask William Banda to advise HH. Just like William Banda who has been accused of being in posession of property that is suspected of being stollen, Sata was also arrested in 2001/2 for not handing over his ooficial vehicle to government after leaving MMD. Sata even abandoned U$ dollars at OR Tambo airport. What is the difference now between the two. W Banda can also be president of Zambia one day just like Sata despitewho has criminal records too and became president.
