A Matero resident Opper Hamiyanze says opposition UPND president Hakainde Hichilema is exhibiting double standards over the allocation of K1.5 billion towards the construction of a retirement house for President Michael Sata.
Mr Hamiyanze wondered why the UPND leader is now against the allocation of funds for the Head of State’s retirement house when during the Rupiah Banda administration the UPND 2010 and 2011 approved K7. 2 billion allocated for the former president’s retirement house.
In an interview with ZANIS yesterday, Mr. Hamiyanze advised Mr. Hichilema to instead concentrate on building his party rather than venting his anger and frustration on the sound economic policies the Patriotic Front government has for the Zambian people.
He urged the opposition UPND leader to be objective and mature if he is to succeed in his political career.
Mr Hamiyanze further noted that the PF government embraces divergent views but that if the views are always marred with unnecessary verbal attacks then such kind of critique will not be welcome.
The Opposition UPND president has been quoted in some sections of the media as having criticised the allocation of funds towards the construction of a retirement house for President Michael Sata.

Muyunda, building a house does not mean allocating it to the president. Since you are a peasant farmer let explain to you in a language you understand: Planting does not mean serving food on the table. What the government is doing is planting the house and when he retires they will serve it to him. The law does not forbid planting during the president’s tenure. I for one am let down by the absolute lack of integrity by HH. Now is time for him to realise that this country is slowly being detribalised. It will shock you HH when the next election vote you out of office. Why HH? We have watched you start, falter then get up and go. Then they decide to build a retirement house for their leader when they have not even worked for the people who voted for them. what have they done for the youths who are not employed, for the kids in Kanyama who are not in school and many other Zambians facing such similar challenges? Sat is not retired.There is no provision for allocating money for construction of houses for sitting presidents. Otherwise all of us would ask for our retirement monies whilst we are still working.As usual some people are quick to attack HH even though these are plain facts right next to their noses.One wonders what they use to think….@….s
