Sunzu Jets Into Nelspruit

Stopilla Sunzu has joined the Zambia team at its Group C base in Nelspruit.

The TP Mazembe defender has missed Zambia’s last four training sessions after he was released by Herve Renard on January 12 to attend trials at Reading in England.

The defender has been at Reading for the last four days since leaving Zambia last Sunday for England.

Sunzu arrived in Nelspruit at 12:30 hours in Nelspruit after landing earlier in the morning from England in Johannesburg.

He later joined the team in training at Ka Nyamazane Stadium in Zambia’s only practice session on Friday afternoon.

  1. After Feb 10th, the win will make him worth more but if they don’t reach the semi finals,……………not much we can expect from the deal. Muzungu wa chabe.

  2. Sunzu has run away from the current freezing weather in England. Yalimuchena impepo umwiche kwena!!!

  3. Its good he is back in the squad as he is an important member of the team.Surely Renard is all smiles.Mbesuma should start on monday.I feel this is his tournament.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

    • I also strongly feel Tsunami Ntofo ntofo Mbesuma will underline his skill at this AFCON

    • I hope our trust in our team will be rewarded just as last year. Our tenure as champs was robbed us by events

  4. We don’t care not to sign him, what mutters is to have him in the squad period, trials are very trick, players who made it are lucky go chipolopolo all soccer fans are behind you.

    • I guess if they don’t sign him out of their deceit and in bad faith, we will be happy for him.

    • Destroyer what Handu is saying is that “Never mind the Reading signing our main interest as at now Is his return to Chipolopolo” Don’t be so impatient my friend English is a second language for most of us

  5. Good development. I was worried. Concentration is needed throught our matches guys.
Don’t give lapses in the middle of matches. We have the capability. All the best.

  6. Gud news that the lad has landed in SA & joins the team. But i have a concern on why is not a signed a contract with reading fc. Media reports that circulating before the lad left were that he going for medicals & sign the contract. Now reports coming out indicate the lad went for trials… & next time will here that he failed to impress the technical bench of reading fc..

  7. This reminds me of Elijah Litana jetting in to Johannesburg for the South Africa Vs Zambia match at FNB STADIUM.

  8. Whereas this was a golden opportunity for Sunzu’s personal ambitions, the timing of it all and FAZ’s decision to allow it should be questioned. Clearly the AFCON is an important tonament that we as holders should be taking seriously. Having players jet in and out at a time of preparations is not good for the team preparations etc. it is now inevitable that part of the dressing room discussions will be Sunzu’s pending contract. The lad won’t be focused if the deal has not been done and dusted.
