The Patriotic Front (PF) candidate for the Mpongwe by elections, Gabriel Namulambe, has expressed confidence that he would scoop the seat come February 28th.
Mr Namulambe says he is assured of total support in Mpongwe Constituency, adding that he would be contesting on a party that is popular.
He told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that the PF has a live manifesto while other political parties’ manifestos are dead.
Mr Namulambe said the PF’s motive is to take development to the people of Mpongwe.
“People of Mpongwe should realize that the PF means business in these elections,” he said.
Mr Namulambe has since appealed to all political players to have issue-based campaigns prior to the by elections.
He has called on people of Mpongwe to rally behind him in the upcoming by elections just like they did in the 2011 General Elections.
Yesterday, the PF Central Committee adopted MrNamulambe for the Mpongwe by elections and Lawrence Evans for the Livingstone by elections.
THE newly adopted Patriotic Front (PF) candidate for next month’s Livingstone Parliament by-election Lawrence Evans has pledged to focus on the upgrading infrastructure in the Tourist Capital to promote development.
Mr Evans, aged 46 and a director at Ngombe Breweries, said he would work with the Government to upgrade infrastructure in the city to induce development once elected as Area Member of Parliament (MP).
Speaking in an interview in Livingstone today, Mr Evans noted that most infrastructures in Livingstone were built in the colonial days and hence they should be upgraded to make them match the current demands of the economy.
“I want to focus on developing Livingstone once I am elected as Area MP. The people of Livingstone would like to see development because the city has for a long time lagged behind in terms of development,” he said.
Mr Evans cited Libuyu Bridge in Livingstone as one such infrastructure which was aging and unreliable because it had never been upgraded since it was built in the colonial days.
“The Libuyu Bridge was built in Colonial days and whenever the river floods, the people of Libuyu are cut off and I would like to work on this Bridge once elected as Area MP,” he said.
Mr Evans said he would support the infrastructure drive in the Tourist Capital to improve the face of the city ahead of the August 2013 United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly.
He said the current upgrading of 40 kilometres selected township roads in Livingstone as well as the planned construction of a town centre ultramodern market and an intercity bus terminus would promote development in the city.
On fighting youth unemployment in Livingstone, Mr Evans said there was need to come up with training centres where unemployed young people could acquire some skills.
He noted that some youths had no skills and hence it was important that they were trained in skills such as catering, carpentry and mechanics among others to enable them exploit various opportunities in the Tourist Capital.
The Livingstone Parliamentary by-election fell vacant after Howard Sikwela resigned from United Party for National Development (UPND) and as Area MP.
ZANIS

Laurence,
We will support you. Just do your home work, we will do ours!!
Long Live PF!!!!
Spot on. Livingstone needs a strong, reliable and dedicated person. Not an a good for nothing outsider..
Stonians stone this EVANS. Eat his money but Do a Donchi Kubeba on him. Vote UPND.
Wailasha, you are disappointed that PF has adopted Evans instead of Andeleki. Vote for PF, PF for life, Viva PF, Viva Michael Chilufya Sata. UPND for 2046.
#3 YOU ARE REALLY A FOOL. YOU STILL HAVE SUCH BARBARIC THINKING IN THIS DAY AND AGE? DON’T BRING NZELU ZA UPND ZO ZIPWANYA MYALA. MBUZI WA KANTU.
Lies lies lies lies. This guy reminds me of Fred Mmembe’s lies in the post newspaper. He should read Field Ruwe’s article- our inteligence or lack of it. How can he bring development just because he is in the ruling party? So to him all MPs are supposed to belong to the ruling party to bring development to their constituencies? I don’t surely get the thinking of these political retarded prostitutes (anyway maybe he knows it is us the voters who are retarded). All these years he has been in government has he done anything for Mpongwe that he couyld not have done if he was in the opposition? What has he done for Mpongwe that other MPS who are not in government can never do?
#4, NO. NOT ALL MPs ARE SUPPOSED TO BELONG TO THE RULING PARTY. HOWEVER, THE OPPOSITION LEADERS THEMSELVES HAVE MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DEVELOP AN AREA BY CHOOSING NOT WORK WITH THE RULING GOVERNMENT. THEY HAVE SAID THIS PUBLICLY AND PRACTICALLY BEHAVED AS SUCH. THEY SAID THEY WILL SHOOT DOWN ALL DEVELOPMENTAL PLANS OF PF GOVT. SO, ITS ONLY THE FOOLISH MP WHO WOULD WANT NOT TO WORK WITH GOVT. IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT- ARE HH AND NEVERS MUMBA MPs OF ANY CONSTITUENCY? NO. SO, IT’S EASY FOR THEM TO INSTRUCT THEIR MPs NOT TO WORK WITH THE GOVT AS THEY HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BUT MPs. ANY MP EVEN IN THE DEVELOPED COUNTRIES WORKS WITH ANY RULING GOVT IN ORDER FOR HIM/HER TO DEVELOP HIS/HER CONSTITUENCY. AFTER ALL EBEKETE MUZULU.
NAMULAMBE NOT GOOD LEADER..CHILUFYA IS WINNING MPONGWE
Cilufya is very strong there banee,,,watch out namulambe
viva chilufya of mpongwe.
Abashi Namulambe
we are for h.h now than ever before..vote upnd candidates as mps
in 2046
#9, YOU ARE A JOKER. I ACTUALLY LIKE YOUR JOKES. ANY VOTER WITH THE BRAIN IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF HIS/HER HEAD WOULDN’T VOTE FOR A CANDIDATE WHO WILL NOT WANT TO WORK WITH THE RULING GOVT. SIMPLY BECAUSE HE/SHE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DEVELOP THE CONSTITUENCY WITHOUT A GOOD WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH THE GOVT. ANYWAY, NIPA ZAMBIA.
mwana i now full time upnd man. i will be ther to vote chilufya as mpongwe mp
LT whatever happened to the flag before the name of a blogger or is it my computer playing me?Anyhow, i being non partizan dont care which name grabs the ticket, as long as they perform wonders and improve both the country and peoples lives, the rest is trivial!
#11 LT IS FULL OF MATUVI. THEY ABANDON A GOOD WEBSITE FOR THIS KAMUSHI MATUVI. IT IS JUST THAT THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE BLOG SITE SO FAR, OTHERWISE SHOULD SOMEONE COME UP WITH ONE I CAN NEVER BE ON THIS WEBSITE. ZWD HAS INSTRUCTIONS ON WHAT TO WRITE BY HH. AND TUMFWEKO ARE ALSO NOT A SERIOUS SITE. THEIR PUBLICATIONS ARE MOSTLY NOTHING TO DO WITH DEVELOPMENT BUT IMMORALITY. AT LEAST LT INFORMS US ON DEVELOPMENT IN ZAMBIA THOUGH IN A DODGE WAY.
we campaign to win both seats
we are for real change at this around
there we go..namulambe vs chilufya in mpongwe,,,leading the polls
What has happened to the Charisma on which MCS was ushered into power? One would like to see Sata giving support to his potential MPs but alas he seems to be marooned in State House. Bushe ifintu fili bwino guys. I smell something fishy.
The cobra is coiled up in State House. As in nature, when a cobra spends most of the time coiled up, things are not well. The man is a shadow of himself. If the truth were to be told, the office of the president needs someone who understands the modern economy. I wonder if MCS appreciates the technological advances of the 21st century and what it takes for a nation to be competitive? If his appointments were made not on merit and not on nepotism, the appointees would perhaps give Zambia a fighting chance. Zambia has the manpower but most of the people feel unappreciated. I hope MCS tenure wont later be percieved as “the lost years”.
BALILWELE KAPOKOTA……KUNAGWILILE
Namulambe is loosing to CHILUFYA IN MPONGWE
VIVA CHILUFYA OF UPND,,WIN ,,WIN,,WIN,,,IS SO CERTAIN FOR YOU CHILU.
I NOW SEE BA UPND ABANDONING THEIR ZWD BLOG PAPER. WHAT’S UP YOU GUYZ? HAVE YOU JUST DISCOVERED THAT FEW PEOPLE READ YOUR PAPER OR WHAT?
YOUNG CHILUFYA IS HAMMERING THERE ,,WATCH THE SPACE
This chap Namulambe, since when did he become a PF member?Jumping in a bandwagon…….
If pipo voted for change in PF why should we have Masebo, Namulambe, Masumba, Luo and Sata in govt? These are the same pipo with the same stealeology technique that corruption and plunder will never end. So who was corrupt in MMD kanshi??? I need to know!!!
Impi do some song guys batuchusha basakala nyongo mwe!!
I totally agree with you. I thought we had gotten rid of plunderers but they seem to have found a formula of coming back. Next it will be Namugala, Chituwo etc and MMD will be back using another party. I honestly think we need to get rid of these same characters who have no shame of recycling themselves. Its too much to always have Masebo, Luo and next it will be Namulambe, Namugala, Chituwo as ministers. No wonder we don’t seem to be going anywhere coz its the same pipo with the same ideas and motives; of stealing and enriching themselves and their families
He will have to swallow these words.

I THINK AS A RESIDENT OF LIVINGSTONE ILL TAKE IT AS AN INSULT IF UPND WILL ADOPT SAKWIBA SIKOTA AS THEIR CANDIDATE FOR LIVINGSTONE BY ELECTION!THIS IS THE MAN WHO FAILED TO PROVIDE QUALITY LEADERSHIP TO THE PEOPLE OF LIVINGSTONE FOR THE TEN YEARS HE WAS A MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR LIVINGSTONE AND ONLY APPEARED WHEN IT WAS TYM FOR ELECTIONS.THE ONLY THING HE DID FOR LIVINGSTONE WAS TO CONSTRUCT A MOURNER’S SHELTER OUT OF LEFT OVERS FROM HIS GUEST HOUSE ALONG MUSHILI WAY AND DONATE WORN OUT FOOTBALL JERSEYS TO…
Good afternoon people of Mpongwe.God created you in his own image to vote for a creditable leader not pipo like namulambe a corruption guy. please vote 4 chilufya.Namulambe has got a case a court, why should you vote 4 a corrupt guy, meaning pf is corrupt. Viva upnd.

it`s true pf is a prt of fools how can thy adopt namulambe if this ***** win then people of pongwe are not straight put some else to teach the dog a leson
Livingstone is of huge economic value to the country and this can only be realised by voting for an MP who will work with government as opposed to one who will be threatened with expulsion if he does. The bigger picture is the hosting of the world tourism conference later in the year which will demand for full collaboration of all stake holders above partisan lines for the betterment of mother Zambia as a whole and Livingstone in particular. They should vote wisely and I know they will this time around.
I paid Sikwela so that he resigns & people of L/stone should now vote for pf but HH’s influence is becoming big in the Zambian politics, anyway i trying to use police to silence this young i hope this strategy will work. I thought HH was an under 5 but now not very sure if he remains one. Ba POLICE PLEASE HELP before the bwato sinks otherwise you be the ones to blame.
Gloria stop sleep or continue eating taxpayer’s with CNPs

Congrats Lawrence Evans. L/stone needs a local/resident MP, not recycled MP like Saki. I agree with Gloria above(29).Most of us who have travelled world wide know L/stone is the least developed and dirtiest National Tourist Capital. We need brand new ideas, innovations and attitudes for L/stone to develop. Our city is very cosmopolitan and civilised enough to vote always on tribal or partisan lines but rather for one God-annointed pro- development, humble and local MP. On youth employment opportunities start to employ already available trained and skilled loafing youths before you thinking of training some more. PF should start fast track creation of such opportunities in L/stone. UPND patience and jealous down your turn will come and we will support you, now it is turn to support PF.
Hi, i have reading out and i will definitely bookmarrk your site, just wanted to say i liked this article.
