The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) says it is not under any obligation to explain what the Mapatizya formula is all about.
UPND Secretary General Winston Chibwe says nobody discusses a strategy in the open.
On Monday, the Southern African Centre for the constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) called on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to petition the UPND to explain the Mapatizya formula.
But Mr. Chibwe says all what the public can be assured is that the formula has completely nothing to do with violence.
Speaking to QFM, Mr. Chibwe stressed that the formula is strictly a strategy to guide against vote manipulation in an election.
He states that if the PF government insists on the UPND to explain its formula, it should first take the lead of explaining to Zambians exactly what the ‘Don’t Kubeba’ is all about.

who cares we all know that UPND is an insignificant tribal party, whether explain the formula or not will not change anything on the grass root.
My friend any party with more than one member of parliament is significant. Your tribalism has clouded your thinking hence the labelling of everyone that belongs to another tribe as a tribalist. I’m a proud lenje and I would never swap my tribe for anything but I also support my party without due consideration of a tribe of my leadership. While I do not belong to UPND, I’m actually impressed that they are in North Western, Western, Central, and Southern Provinces. By Mr. Sata’s generosity, they even in Lusaka (Chirundu). If this is being small and tribal, so be it. Bravo UPND!!
When people talk about hollow, unprincipled, uncouth and boorish leadership, not to mention the fact that its also untested, this is what they just mean!!
We all know that the Mapatizya formular is founded, premised and predicated on violence rather than civilized political persuasion and this in itself compels the leadership of UPND to come clean on their infamous label of violence.
When are we going to have a credible opposition? MMD is corrupt, UPND is violent!!
Violence, intimidation and demagoguery as political strategies have no place in a civilized world.
You have to adapt to the new order to compete, violence won’t propel you to state house.

Recently some Zambian chap was fired for stealing from his employer and he does not belong to the tribe you are insinuating. This same chap’s marriage ended because when he went to Zambian he squandered the money meant for investment on another woman (an ashawo!).

Mapatizya Formular is a safety net to guard against vote rigging! If you are found doing that instant justice is meted upon you lest the Police release you like the did to the PF youth in kabwata!
I repeat if you are not going to rig then their will be no Mapatizya formular.
So UPND and MMd even failed to field candidates in some wards for the forthcoing bye-elections but still hope to win national elections and rule the country???

Who doesn’t know that Maptizya formula is a violent strategy employed by the UPND during the by-election in Mapatizya constituency, following the death of Mr. Hambayi? Ackson Sejani won this seat riding on extreme violent acts which sent shivers across the constituency and intimidated many would be voters. This has been was confirmed by security officers who fought running battles with violent UPND thugs during the campaigs of that by-election.
Brian Hapunda who is Southen Province PF Political Secretary has also confirmed that the infamous Mapatizya formula is a strategy of violence. You can’t argue against this revelation because Brian knows UPND in and out. He was the party’s national youth chairperson.
what ever formula you adopt it should be well translated, with a collegue in flight last week learnt that the dont kubeba strategy is being refered to in Ghana in political science lessons its just because it can be digested by all citzenary hence a sucess story… not sure with mapatizya concoction??
