FIFA finds FAZ with a case to answer as to how Zambian players banned for match fixing in Finland in 2011 were cleared to play in the FAZ league in 2012.
FIFA disciplinary committee said it would also like to know how four players were even cleared to play in the Super Division.
“On 19 February 2013 FIFA opened disciplinary proceedings against the Football Association of Zambia for having allegedly transferred and registered eight players in breach of the FIFA regulations governing the transfer of players,” FIFA said.
“It appears that eight players were transferred from the Finland Football Association to the Football Association of Zambia outside of the FIFA Transfer Matching System (TMS), without an International Transfer Certificate (ITC), and outside of the registration period.”
The players are Godfrey Chibanga, Chileshe Chibwe, Francis Kombe, Stephen Kunda, Chanda Mwaba, Nchimunya Mweetwa and Christopher Muosnda who all played for Rovaniemi Palloseura (RoPs).
Others are brothers Dominic Yobe and Donewelll who played for HJK Helsink and AC Oulu respectively.
The players were convicted and slapped with suspended sentences and later deported from Finland in 2011.
“In addition, the players were all suspended by the Finland Football Association for match-fixing offences and these sanctions were extended as to have worldwide effect by the Chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee. At least four of the eight players apparently played in official matches in Zambia despite being suspended on a worldwide basis,” FIFA stated.
Mweetwa and Musonda featured for Napsa Stars while Donewell Yobe played for National Assembly in April, 2012 before their clearances were reversed by FAZ that same month.
“The Football Association of Zambia is invited to provide its position to FIFA, together with any documentary evidence it might deem appropriate,” FIFA said.
A very good example of how we make and agree to laws in order that we may ignore them.
Patiently waiting for a response from Football House and their RSA based president!!
I wonder if FAZ even knew such laws exist.
Ignorance is no excuse.
How can they if their bosses have thrown away the law books
i love the game of soccer but for this one alone wait when feature on super sport in RSA, I WILL GO DEEP IN SOME ONE’S NERVES.
And when I called them corrupt incompetent empty suits bloggers assume I’m “bitter”….the gullible hero worshippers will start to wake up now and smell the coffee.
How come most these I.D.I.O.T.S are my relatives from either Luapula or Northern?
Kaili u a all bakawalala ba f lkala
They want money.. I was a fan of RoPs during Zeddy and Mordon’s hey-days and watch most of their local and away matches.. I was very dissappointed to hear about match fixing with a big fish behind this 🙁
Because they know how to kick balls, including those between your legs.
The purpoted mwamba yu must be refusing to think every day of yo life. Y should yu think on ethenic basis ?
What are the some of the punishment for this one?
Hefty fines and a good telling off from FIFA
atase! only that…
and who is going to pay that hefty fine?
tax payer?
Clubs that lost points when these players featuredin matches against them can appeal to FAZ for points to be awarded to said clubs. But with FAZ compromised, tough luck for the appellants
kadansa watch your mouth.. insele wemukulu!!
We don’t even know those players mentioned, how they went to finland, and whether they are soccer players or not, in zed we only know kalaba, susu, katongo, mbesuma etc the rest is not our problem
In Zambia laws are meant to be ignored. Unfortunately, we also signed up to international agreements, which we cannot freely ignore. Our footballing semi-illiterates don’t even know what day of the week it is. For instance, they did not even know that Sunzu was still contracted to Mazembe – not even Sunzu knew. That is taking ignorance to a different level!
Imwe tufikala celebrating, NONE of the banned players has so far played even a SECOND FOR ANY ZAMBIAN CLUB. Mention any player who has played and i will show u a flying pig, u bitter for nothing @ssholes!
The story says they were cleared to play for some Zambian clubs after they were banned by FIFA from playing football at any (club, national) level world-wide and there the charges lie. Read, process in your head, process again, comment, read, then post…
