PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Secretary General Wynter Kabimba has ordered the Lusaka District and Matero Constituency party leadership to investigate the violence that rocked the Bible Gospel Church in Africa (BIGOCA) in Matero last Friday.
In another development Mr Kabimba has written to MMD leader Nevers Mumba to furnish the Police with evidence that the PF had formed a militia group.
Dr Mumba during press briefing on Sunday this week alleged that the ruling party had formed a militia group to silence its political critics through violent attacks.
On the BIGOCA violence, Mr Kabimba said it is unacceptable for any individual to use violence as a means of settling political differences as such a conduct is contrary to the policy of the party.
Mr Kabimba said this in a statement issued by PF media and publicity director, Chanda Mfula in Lusaka yesterday.
Mr Kabimba instructed the party’s branches should furnish his office with the necessary information on the matter.
“Violence is not part of the PF culture and as such the party does not wish to take the country back to the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) and William Banda era, during which citizens with contrary views were physically attacked or molested.
“Instead the PF itself has in the past been a victim of violence at the hands of the MMD and the United Party for National Development (UPND), with the more recent incidences resulting in the death of two PF members in Livingstone and Rufunsa,” Mr Kabimba said.
He said it was therefore inconceivable that the party could resort to the same methods it had condemned, and which it viewed as archaic and uncivilized.
He said the PF had established a political education department to, among other roles, educate its membership on civil politics to help create an intellectual space in the country and evolve a culture where the only battle the Zambian people would fight was a battle of ideas and not physical violence.
He assured Zambians that the PF would maintain its respect for their rights, safety and security and would act against any member who would be found wanting in this regard.

Direct this instruction to your law enforcement officers, Kasosa and Libongani. There is a protocol in handling investigations. Follow it!
