PRESIDENT Michael Sata

PRESIDENT Michael Sata has arrived home from his official visit to Japan where he went to attend the fifth Tokyo International Conference for African Development (TICAD).

Prior to attending the TICAD, President Sata attended the African Union (AU) summit in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, which coincided with celebrations to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Organization of African Union (OAU).

President Sata arrived aboard the Presidential jet which touched down at the Kenneth Kaunda International in Lusaka today at 13:15 hours.

The President was welcomed by acting President and Home Affairs Minister Edger Lungu, Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba, Tourism and Arts Minister Sylvia Masebo and other senior Government officials.

Others that welcomed Mr Sata included defence chiefs, and a horde of Patriotic Front members.

He arrived in the company of Commerce Trade and Industry minister Emmanuel Chenda, Lands Minister Wylbur Simuusa, Foreign Affairs minister Effron Lungu and State House Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations, George Chellah.

During the high level meetings, the Head of State attended both private and open door meetings with other leaders from around the world to discuss matters of global and continental concern.

The President also held private meetings with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Monday this week, where he invited Japanese investors to set up businesses in Zambia. He also had a private meeting with the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon while in Ethiopia.

  1. welcome back…. the president is back not those HeHe we see daily in electronic papers with empty criticisms. there is a lot of disjointed ministers in your government, try to reorganize them honeymoon season is over people are suffering, please.

    • LT why are you not publishing the story about KCM`s decision not to lay off 2000 workers ? .Why is that the media only likes reporting negative stories ? Even the ZWD is silent on this one.Come on guys.

  2. Is there no Zambian national symbol that president can use for waving at Zambian Citizens, not PF Cadres? What if other citizens go to welcome the president and he is fisting them, or hourling them; what should they do, given that they do not ascribe to the gesture? I think it is time we thought of one, to netural, so that those opposed to, say, the rulling party can also participate in these important national events, like welcoming a president, march pasts by the freedom square, etc. Unless those are exclusive to the ruling party cadres – then why do people make noise when the opposition do not show up?

    • Atase iwe KBM! This is what everyone is saying about your president under-five. Criticizing just for the sake of! Ala, use Your mouth for eating if you dont have anything to say. From Chiluba through Mwanawasa to RB they were all doing the hour thing and we never heard a squeak from you. Now someone you dont like does what they all do and you cry foul!

    • What is wrong for PF party using their party symbol when all the past presidents used their party symbols? Grow up boy!!!!

    • This is not USA or UK where party leaders graduate to national leaders once elected so. In Zambia a President sticks to using party slogans even at national and international events. The mindset is the biggest problem in Zambia. Imagine a president puching his clenched fist in the air or waving a UNIP or MMD sign to diplomats. Zambian presidents need education on etiquette.

    • He is President for his tribe and party only. There’s nothing NATIONAL about his behaviour. The correct word to use is PRIMITIVE. He is not cut to lead a country in the 21 st century!

  3. Wasting resources with these welcoming parties, when Pres. Obama or Cameron arrives from overseas they are only briefly met by the airport manager on duty and whisked away. If I become president I’ll ban this rubbish.

    • I remember having to disrupt the school day to line up on Independence avenue to wave to KK’s motorcade.

      Wasted time.

    • Hey Boy! we are Africans, we cannot be doing what America or Britain are doing, we should have our own way of welcoming our head of state. Nanga nikukopela vonse. So because America is allowing gay marriages you want Zambia to do the same? Its Taboooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo in our society.

    • @Kawax
Why does he need to be welcomed? It takes resources to do that. We are poor.

WTF ? whats with the unrelated gay comment? Your post makes me think of a tossed salad. And now I’m hungry.

    • In those countries people are serious-minded and time is money. There is no time for lazing about by boarding trucks to go to the airport to welcome or see off a president. For this reason you do not need to be a rocket scientist to know why the West is in 2013 and countries such as Zambia are still in the 1950s.

    • So you are in Turkey, are you the one called Blogradio station on Monday nite and asked Miles Sampa that question?

    • @Tip top
so what if he is the one??.. Do you want to send your cadres to go after him?…
wheather he call blogradio or not,, it shouldnot bother you iwe ka cadre,,, mind you own danm bussiness!!!!!

    • Makes no difference….its not like he’ll hold a press conference to address the currently hot issues now, will he?

    • @Kay, the little difference was that we managed to have a bit of fresh air. And now there’s the smell of sulphur all over Lusaka!

  4. @Tip top
so what if he is the one??.. Do you want to send your cadres to go after him?…
wheather he call blogradio or not,, it shouldnot bother you iwe ka cadre,,, mind you own danm bussiness!!!!!

  5. Some people bring smiles wherever they go,others whenever they go….like Sata.He should have stayed over there in Addis slums permanently so we can have peace.

  6. In less than one year, Zambia has sent Kambwili,Winter,Foreign AFFAIRS MINISTER,EDUCATION MINISTER,ZAMBIA´S AMBASSADOR TO CANADA and now Kaunda to Cuba. This is unprecedented. What does Zambia want from Communist Cuba imwe bantu?

  7. Now I know they are sticking that Communist stick in Zambia´s A.ss.
Muzanya ma Zambians with communism.Any way you voted for the old man nizanu izo!

  8. Why can’t some ofde witches ndwizards like Australia ,ndondo and oders who are like dem keep quiet? Even wen wat dey re saying do make sense. ld iots! Welcome Mr President ! We expect big dings from yo reasonable journeys.Plse don’t ans de *****s sir

    • Bcoz if we keep quiet- you lose.If you don’t support our right to say stuff you don’t like then you’ve already lost when Sata decides to take away the stuff you like.

    • Osmore, I’m glad you’re writing in that pseudo-english that I can’t understand. I appreciate your consideration greatly!

    • Well we ain’t seen it yet.

Did God put Hitler in office for a purpose too? or Idi Amin Dada?

Guess I want to know whether God puts all leaders in office, and if not, how to distinguish between god-appointed ones and those who ain’t.

    • So that Zambians can mature and learn to vote wisely next time, this obviously one of the biggest mistakes they ever made.

    • @High Speed Black Mama, how many times did some one higher refuse for HEMCS to be President but Zambians forced themselves on MCS; there you have him. I agree with Cha Cha Cha that it was a lesson to be wiser and never to force matters.

  9. IN THE MEANTIME WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO STILL HOLD ON TO YOU BECAUSE WE CHOSE YOU ALREADY. BUT ONE THING FOR SURE IS THAT YOU ARE NOT OUR BEST CHOICE. YOU ARE EXTRAVAGANT AND A PLUNDERER! IN LES THAN TWO YEARS OF YOUR RULE YOU HAVE ALREADY PLUNDERED A LOT! NOTHING IS EXCITING ABOUT YOU MR. ONLY YOUR FELLOW THIEVES AND CROOKS SUPPORT YOU MR SATANA.

  10. How old is that presidential jet? You mean it can go all the way to Japan and back on unsubsidised fuel? With all due respect I thought the jet is now a banger used for just short flights within the country doing 200 miles an hour just a few metres above sea level in preparation for a likelihood of crash landing. Mama Mia! another miracle!

    • It was packed in Nairobi. Part of the money from the removal of subsidies went to pay airport packing fees at JKIA. I gather Zambia’s own Marie Antoinette aka Christine Kaseba has also found it convenient to use chartered planes for her ‘national duties’ in faraway lands!

  11. I have noticed that many people are interested in debating politics and the development of our country but have come to realise that most do it from a common sense view point which is not scientific and helpful. For those interested in providing meanigful contributions & increase their knowledge on politics, social and economic development I recommend they read the following books (our leaders must read them too): 1) The Hudris Syndrom by David owen. This book is about how political power intoxicates leaders . 2) The Trouble with Afica; Why Foreign Aid isnt working by Robert Calderisi. This book was published before Dambisa Moyo’s Dead AID. 3) Why Nations Fail by Daron Acemoglu & James A. Robinson. 4) From Third World to First; The Singapore Story 1965-2000 by Lee Kaun Yew.

    • Thanks for that list of books. I will make sure that I get hold of all them. My experience with the large majority of black africans is that they do not read books after leaving school or college. This is the reason why some people say that if you want to hide something from an African put it in between the pages of a book or you put it in writing.

    • @chester
You have me there. I can’t remember when I last read a book cover to cover. It’s too easy to get a synopsis of all 4 books on the Internet, read reviews by subject matter experts, read opinions by common folk on forums like this – all within 30 minutes! (At no cost)

  12. Welcome home ha kateka…yaah now lets sort them out…..that fake pastor for late lazo was too noisey.
