Chinese journalists and travel advisors arrive in Zambia to help market tourism to China market

Share

A delegation of Chinese journalists and travel advisors are in the country to sample some of the tourist sites the country has to offer and later help market them to China.

The delegation that arrived in the country this afternoon is expected to leave for Livingstone tomorrow morning where they will tour the Victoria Falls and other tourist attractions found in the tourist capital.

Zambia Tourism Board (ZTB ) Marketing Manager Mato Shambale explained that the group will be in the country for 11 days during which they visit the south Luangwa national park and later proceed to visit the lower Zambezi.

ZANIS reports that the ZTB Marketing Manager said this when he received the entourage at the Golden Peacock Hotel in Lusaka, yesterday.

Mr. Shambale explained that the delegation’s visit is in a bid to increase the number of Chinese tourists visiting the country.

He said with the growth of China’s economy, it has become the world’s biggest producer of tourists, adding that unfortunately only a small percentage of them visit Zambia.

Mr. Shambale attributed the low numbers of Chinese tourists visiting the country to lack of proper marketing of Zambia’s tourism to China.

He expressed hope that once the journalists and travel agents experience Zambia’s tourist attractions first hand, they will be able to paint a positive picture of Zambia’s tourism to China which will in turn increase the number of Chinese tourists to Zambia.

Mr.Shambale expressed confidence that Zambia will receive enough publicity in China through the stories the Chinese journalists will write.

  1. Just start an airline and partner with china and you will have more chinese tourists. for as long as you don’t have your own airline you will not have many tourists. you can’t just depend on foreign airlines.

    • Let them be closed. Already ZWD is disappearing, how can you have a publication on Facebook?
If those are not arrested for exposing how foolish are PooFs, then they are hired to come and clean up the internet. Chinese are the best at that.

  2. Its good to open up tourism industry because, unlike copper mining, it will not run out. HOWEVER lets be aware that with China’s population density of about 20,000 people per sq km (in other words, the whole Country as crowded as say, Chisokone, or Kamwala Market) Chinese will be quietly looking for space to off-load. Zambia’s population density is only 17 people per sq km. So it important to be ready and brace for this unannounced need from China and not be caught unawares.

  3. These tuma racist can not come to africa, these tuma people are primitive and backwards,to them an african is a noneentity,he doesn’t deserve respect or recognition.to them the whole world is america or europe, if you go to other cities where these bunch of illiterates are found you can cry they be pointing at you and laughing with impunity.they are a very backward and uneducated people, thats why hong kongnese dont want to be part of them

  4. If Zambia is to develop, it must embrace all peoples and all races. If there are problems, let Home Affairs deal with it. The police are here not just to harass citizens, but they are here to maintain law and order.

If there are too many Chinese or Indians or Nigerians, quotas can be set up to restrict more from entering. This is why we have consular officers in Zambian embassies around the world to grant or deny entry into Zambia (not to live in luxury and walk proud stating ‘we are in foriegn service’, without having a clue what they are doing there).

Spend 90 days to read through their responsibilities.
