Indeni Petroleum Refinery Company limited has assured all key players in the fuel delivery chain of sufficient fuel supply to its main fuel terminal in Ndola.

Indeni petroleum refinery Public Relations Manager Mwila Nkonge says the company is running smoothly and is currently supplying enough fuel to its Ndola fuel terminal.

“As far as we are concerned, the oil marketing companies have full access to sufficient fuel from the Ndola main fuel supply terminal,” said Mr Nkonge.

Mr Nkonge attributed possible lapse of fuel supply in Ndola and surrounding areas to logistical problems between the Oil Marketing Companies and fuel pump station dealers.

And a check by ZANIS in most parts of the city revealed normal circulation of the commodity with most filling stations having sufficient stocks of fuel.

A further check in the city revealed normal operation of business and traffic at major filling stations.

Facts are yet to be established regarding media reports of fuel shortages in the city.

  1. It is understandable that the people at Indeni cannot say anything that contradicts the Minister’s position. So they are expected to shift blame on the OMCs. I have worked with OMCs and I know there are isolated cases of late delivery of product but not to the extent whereby a whole city serviced by various OMCs has a shortage. After 2016, we shall know which politicians were skimming from the tax payers and stuffing their pockets through these artificial shortages.
