Republican Vice President Guy Scott has challenged UNPD leader Hakainde Hichilema to go the Anti-Corruption Commission and to Drug Enforcement Commission to report his findings that government allegedly overpaid for the purchase of 50 thousand metric tonnes of urea fertilizer from Saudi Arabia.
At a media briefing on Thursday yesterday Mr. Hichilema disclosed that his party is aware that the prevailing market price of top dressing fertilizer at the time of procurement was 330 US Dollars contrary to what Agriculture Minister Robert Sichinga informed the nation that government purchased fertilizer from Saudi Arabia at a price of 380 US Dollars.
Dr. Scott however state that only if Mr. Hichilema fails to push his case to the ACC and the DEC shall he then complain to the government.
The vice president was responding to a question by Mafinga Member of Parliament Catherine Namugala who wanted government to clarify the alleged revelations that the UPND leader has raise over government’s purchase of the urea fertilizer from Saudi Arabia.
