HIV activist Dr. Manase Phiri has said that he was not happy that Zambia has decided not to grant gay rights to its citizens.

Speaking when he addressed Lusaka’s Evelyn hone college, Dr Phiri said that the reasons for rejecting gay rights was due to fear of breaking religious principles.

And reacting to Dr Phiri’s comments, church of God in Christ Bishop Justin Gondwe has described Dr. Phiri’s sentiment as evil and unacceptable, adding the country’s decision on gay right’s is final.

Anyway, back to the point, gay rights are not to be accepted. yes we can accept that people can be gay and like any abnormal condition we try as society to fix it or treat it. but does it mean we stop accepting them as human beings or deny their rights as humans? no we dont, we accept their condition and we try to help them get on the right path. To accept that man and man or woman and woman should marry each other is an abomination to our society and culture. We need to draw a fine line between gay rights and rights of them being individuals who are gay.

    • the concept of gay rights needs to be fully understood, most of all,society needs to understand gay behaviour as a whole, firstly what do we mean by gay rights, do we mean we should ENCOURAGE people of the same sex to be together even get married or we should ACCEPT people of the same sex to be together? gay people need to be accepted but not encouraged, accepting them asserts us to the human compassion God asked us to have, its a shame for a Christian to stone a gay person to death cuz a wrong can’t be corrected by another wrong, as for encouraging gay rights, i’d say no, 2 men being together as a family breaks to code of nature and decimates the chance every child to grow up with a mother and father(normal family).     • @KK Kwati Chimufana…it is not about ukusokoloka.It is called tolerance.Discriminating against gays is the same as discriminating against certain races(racism) because basically people discriminate against people who are different from them.A different sexual orientation shouldnt give me a reason to regard another person a less equal.Lets practice love and embrace one another irrespective of creed or sexual orientation, otherwise i love pu-ssy(i can even kill for it…lol)

Equating gay rights with human rights is the latest gimmick of these chaps but let us not be hoodwinked. Let our constitution focus on issues that build our constitution.   6. Ah, I knew it , I knew it ..I knew this Guy was gay, who let the Dog out? I remember visiting his practice for medicals in kitwe when I wanted to go to the UK in the late 90s, and the way the guy touched me..to this day I have never understood and today I finally have the answer.

    • I have Lesbo friends aswell as boyfriends who prefer boys, so i will remain neutral for the sake of our friendship even if i get choked with their acts, i can only wish them luck, but i cringe all the time in secrecy, with Lesbos you are never sure if they like you for mere friendship or they have a secret agenda, all in all, it’s repulsive to say the least! Why do i feel bad letting it out? Betraying someone is bad but those are my true feelings about this issue and it’s not fair to be asked to pretend when in actual fact you feel, otherwise.

    • In 2001,a patient went to Kitwe Central Hospital were a well known medical doctor refused to attend to him But instead he was referred to a certain pharmacy in town.Upon arrival at the pharmacy,the owner of the pharmacy,a well known medical doctor told the gentleman that His condition was going to cost him a fortune beyond what he could afford.Then he was given a second option to go to BCEL club opposite Chisokone market were he was expected to be helped free of charge.He went there in the evening and he was ushered into a dark room and to his shock,the doctor from Central Hospital was there together with the pharmacist,and a good number of doctors were also there dressed in black suits.He was given conditions that i cannot elaborate because of space.This is a true story.Uli nokutwi omfwe

Its either LT left out something from this story, or Dr. Phiri is implying that in a traditional rural African village with no influence from Christianity, the Village elders and everyone around would happily embrace Homosexuality/lesbianism. If this is what Dr. Phiri thinks, then he needs lot of help. The fact is it would even be harder to even mention the subject among such a community. It is simply alien. People who choose to be homosexuals would definitely be treated as mentally disabled.

  46. Dr. Manase is a scientist and for that reason he knows very well that being gay is not a choice but a disorder (deviation from what we take as normal). Giving rights to gays is just saying that gays should not be jailed or persecuted. Some people are born gay and that is it.

    For one to refer to Dr. Manase as thinking so low is just a way of trying to elevate one’s intellectual inadequacy.

    I personally think my moral standing is above that of god and I would not take his commandment on Gays (Lev 20:13) seriously.

  49. We do not discriminate against Gays & Lesbos. What two consenting adults do within the confines of their privacy is their business, and no one cares for all I know! When two grown ups decide to commit adultery, as long as they do it in private, no body cares! However, they can not start advocating for “Adulterers’ rights”, because adultery is not socially acceptable.   57. The first thing Doctor Manasseh should be talking about is treatment and rehab for gay people because as a Medical Doctor he should be the one telling us that being gay is a medical condition (disorder) where individuals have their hormones and other genetic materials behaving abnormally.
