All the 64 Barotseland activists accused of treason have been discharged by the Lusaka Magistrate Court.

The 64 which includes former Ngambela Clement Sinyinda were discharged this morning by Lusaka Magistrate Alidah Chulu after the Director of Public Prosecutions entered a nolle prosequi.

Magistrate Chulu however warned that they could still be arrested on the same offence.
The Barotseland activist had been in detention for four months after being accused of declaring self-rule.

Earlier this month 31 of the 84 Barotse Treason detainees were released from prison.

This was after the court received instructions to enter a Nolle Proseque from the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP.

Those released comprise 3 females and 28 males.

  1. This is only wise thing Sata has done so far in his life. Those Lozis don’t deserve such charges. Next he has to allow Sosala become a Chitimukulu.

    • @Nostradamus
He had no option but to yield to the truth and face reality… lies, ducking and diving was/is not going to serve Sata any good.

    • @Ndobo,
Long time, can you tell me why your Ngambela is covered in a winter Blanket? Is that by the way a traditional gear and can you then get him a proper one from Sweden? The one he has looks a bit cheap, Kimasholi hihihihihi! I thought he had a cold or something.

    • @cindy
yes long time my sweet bemba lady!!! the only bemba that warms my heart like angel from heaven..
that blanket is also tradition similar to the basotho from down south who we share history with!!
Actually am organising some good blankets from Sverige for my people after their release… that look of the prime minister Sinyinda is because stress from the cobra,,..
the cobra can stress you to extremes,, why do you think that chipata man commited sucide??

    • @Ndobo,
Truly long time man, I was getting closer to Cindy in past days/ weeks. Remember, “shimuchita panono, apokele njikala fye umukashi”.

  2. I`m happy for them.Hope they won`t go back to their old ways soon. There will be only one Zambia and not a country called Barotse within Zambia.

    • @Saulosi naiwe, how can you say they should change their way of life? They are lozi, let them be what they are, and don’t simply arrest them again. Most of those striking nurses are Lozis, thats how they are… I worked with many Lozi guys, Jesus so difficulty people.
KK, Kapwepwe, Nkumbula and your Munkombwe fought for you to withdraw from Nyasaland and unfortunate Rhodesia, and no one has regreted, let the Lozis try too… Their land is bigger than Malawi.

    • @Nostradamus
iwe nostra,, lozis are not difficult people,, if you doubt me ask Nyambe mulenga,… lozis dont like thieves masholi… and liars,,, mahata, thats why they seem difficult,

  3. The only reason why this has concluded in this manner is if you remember a few weeks ago, these guys were going to have Sata and Kaunda as witnesses. I think this was a clever move by the defence lawyers since they knew very will these guy would have had to take a stand once summoned by the judge and to avoid this the DPP has been advised to drop the case. I don’t these guys will stop now since they have been in jail and how worse can it get other than going back to the same place. They have only made these guys even stronger to fight for the cause.

  4. “Magistrate Chulu however warned that they could still be arrested on the same offence “. Therefore let these terrorists behave or else once re-arrested they will be sent to the gallows.

  5. That is the way to go. Now let us dialogue with these Lozi cousins of ours. Zambia is so nice to be divided and life would be boring without the Lozis. They should just make me a Ngambela and I will sort out all their problems.

  6. Mutembo cant handle a criminal case, he is a civil lawyer. He has bitten off more than he could chew. Birds of the same feathers flock together and similar results wt Kamimbya kamu Winter

  7. Its a wise decision to free all treason accused Barotse activitists. Its better to come to a round table with cool minds and look at all grey areas so that a lasting solution is found. BA1964 was not founded on arrests or violance but it was on round table in London. All those demanding this and that should tone down and find better ways. We need PG govt to deliver on its promises to develop this country further. After UNIP and MMD laid a stromg foundation for PF to continue the long process of building mother Zambia. The other aspect to reslove is the emerging hot issue of the Chitimukulu in Northen Province. The stand off between BashiLumbemba and PF Govt will not take this country forward. There is need for all stakeholders to find a peaceful lasting solution as soon as possible.

  8. No matter who we are the best is to allow these fellows to be properly advised we are one Zambia nothing can come between us Lozies we love you ,Tongas you are our brothers .we need you more than ever for the development of mother Zambia. Please no Barotse any more.

  9. This is very good news indeed. I hope they won’t go back to the those primitive ideas. I can’t imagine life in Zambia without the sweet Lozi women. But Lozi women are the best and the sweetest women under the sun.

  10. BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DR CANISIUS BANDA expelled from UPND.

This was expected. I am sure any other Party would have done the same. Meanwhile DR BANDA has cited Tribalism as one of the reason he has been harrased by the UPND leadership and said he will soon make public the wayforward in his Political carear.

More problems in the already weak opposition.

  11. I don’t know why it’s a treasonable offence to call for secession. Scotland wants to secede from the rest of UK and we didn’t see Alex Salmond, the First Minister of Scotland being cited for treason. The Westminster govt has granted Scoland to hold a referendum next year to decide whether to go for independence or to remain in the UK. That’s how you resolve issues in this modern age, not by using threats.

  12. I thank God 4 allowing me 2 meet 1 of de defendants in a hospital.l cried upon seeing how hopeless he was while in a chain like an animal.l declared him free as i used on himannointing water fro TbJoshua.l made him a point of ctact 2 his coleagues.

  13. How is it an offence to ask for what belongs to you. If really the agreement was about suceeding from Zambia then give them their land please after all they will still be our neighbours.

  14. A 33-year-old man of Mazabuka’s Plan 2000 township arrested for bestiality last week has appeared in the magistrates’ court to answer charges levelled against him.
Douglas Hamayobe, a general worker at a named car wash located within the central business district of Mazabuka, appeared, charged with the offence of unnatural carnal knowledge of an animal.
Hamayobe, who appeared for plea before magistrate Malumani, is accused of having sex with a dog on November 17, contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
He pleaded not guilty to the offence and the matter has since been adjourned to December 11 and December 17 for mention and commencement of trial, respectively.
Hamayobe is remanded in custody pending commencement of trial in the matter.
He was arrested last week by police after his…

  15. Its time to start a new page, Mandela forgave the people that persecuteed him and i pray that President Satat will take this opportunity to heal the wounds of his broken promises to the people of Western Zambia. The country has an opportunity to develop and unite but this transformation would require sound leadership, collective efforts by true citizens. The church can champion a new Zambia, a nation that cherishes its people and delivers real development. ALL for ONE Zed

  16. Zambia needs all of us, its time to reconcile and forgive our present and past, its time to do what is right for mother Zambia, for our chidlren and generations to come. Those closer to power, closer to any leader, closer to any pastor or priest should challenge our leadership from the every village to Nkwazi – to seek healing, to bandage the wounded and become a nation that we all wanted. This is the only country and home, a better Zambia, where MPs and President will enact a new constitution for the land and not for themselves. Imagine if those who fought for Zambia’s independence wanted immediate rewards. Zambia needs hearts and heads that have time to think, to lead, to heal and not to hurt. Its time to drop the unnecessary court cases and utilise our energy to produce food for all

  17. Before Zambia was Zambia, there was Barotseland! Civilized minds would not shy away from a constructive dialogue over the issue. Oppressions and suppressions are sold fashioned and belong to the stone age.

  18. “If you start by promising what you don’t even have yet, you’ll lose your desire to work towards getting it.” – Paulo Coelho

  19. That is the way to go.
    Now, what is next?
In my view, dialogue and resolve the matter once and for all. BA64 is a real issue. That is the document that brought the two states together, Northern Rhodesia, the care-taker of Barotseland and Barotseland to create Zambia. When you revoke such a document without involving other parties, you have unilaterally torn the country apart. That is what KK’s government did. He effectively tore Zambia apart and then used presidential power to intimidate those who cried foul. Let us admit our past mistakes and work out a mutually beneficial deal. I can imagine the pain of being declared a foreigner in provinces I used to enjoy visiting and enjoying fellowship. For Lozis, let not hunger for power be the motivation. Federalism could be the answer…

  20. Yes, federalism. The country is huge and diverse, demographically.
Let us avoid intimidation. Let us debate.

  21. More tax dollars wasted by this utterly useless government as we have to pay the defence’s legal fees. Keep this in mind every time you hear that foreign word “nolle proseque”.
If only the media could count hoe many of these hsve been entered into since this DPP was hand picked by incompetent Sata. Ba ZWD please find out!

  22. Dear bloggers,
dont u think that the federal type of governance is the way to go?
i think this issue shud b dealt with once and for all in an amicable way.

  23. The time has come to end presidential term limits, because continuing the restrictions on how long one can serve in the country’s highest office is bad for the United States, a university professor argued this week.

In an opinion piece published in the Washington Post, Jonathan Zimmerman, a history and education professor at New York University, says deciding whether a president deserves a third, fourth or more terms should be left to the American people, not the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which placed a two-term limit on the position. As background, here’s an excerpt from the amendment, ratified in 1951:

“No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two…

  24. Zambia can only become a haven of peace and prosperity if the nepotism, tribalism and segregation done by the ruling party at the moment is stopped because if this situation is left to continue in the name of Bemba supremacy, one day Zambia will become a divided nation with each respective province becoming a country on its own. Don’ t forget what happened to the former Soviet Union and Yugoslavia. The current language being used against the tribes which are non Bembas and I am sure this has backing from the President is not health and in the long run, it will result into a catastrophy to this republic. Do not forget the fact that under the current goings, we are sitting on a time bomb. We should yearn to maintain the unity KK left despite the economic destruction he did.

    • I don’t know why you have this notion that Bembas want to dominate other tribes! Get that away from your mind, that is if you any! It’s just your own apparition and hate towards the tribe Bemba. Sometimes it’s your own making, you try to show that mwalichampuka by speaking Bemba. I am proud to be my tribe, by the way I aint Bemba!

  25. IN FACT, KA SINYANDA WAS IN GVT. BEFORE AND HE DIDNT MAKE ANY NOISE NOW BECAUSE HE IS OUT OF GVT. HE IS ABLE TO MAKE NOISE. LET ME WARN KASINYINDA AND HIS FOLLOWERS THAT IF THEY REPEAT THE NOSENCE, THEY WILL BE KILLED POFYE AND BARLOSE LAND WILL REMAIN. ITS ONE ZAMBIA WAMONA NESHOBE.

  26. You can take a Lozi away from Barotseland but you CAN NOT take Barotseland away from a Lozi. That’s the truth nothing but the whole truth because truth sets all living things free.

  27. Since 1964 it is the munyukunyuku who have led Zambia and this has been pissing the lozis off! For the sake of others munyukunyuku means ‘foreigner’ in the lozi society.

  28. Since 1964 it is the munyukunyuku who have led Zambia and this has been pissing the lozis off! For the sake of others munyukunyuku means ‘foreigner’ in the lozi society. At the end of the day kazizi ni ka kazizi! Soon they will go back to courts. Shame on you lozi chaps learn to embrace other beings because Zambia will always be a multi- ethenic society. No single stupid tribe owns any part of this country. If one wishes can have 73 girl freinds one in each tribe.

“Please do not laugh at my grammer because a whiteman can not even say hi in my mother tongue”

    • dont worry you will still have a number of tribes in there, as for barotse we aree freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee for goooooooooooooooooooood.
