GLOCOSU organising student unions in the country for massive demonstrations

The Global Congress of Students Unions (GLOCOSU) is organizing all students unions in the country to call for a massive demonstration this week to press government to release the final draft constitution.

GLOCOSU Secretary General, Kelvin Chitala, has told QFM News that GLOCOSU has realized that students can play a major role in working with Civil Society Organizations, Church Mother bodies, political parties and other relevant stakeholders in ensuring that the government releases the document.

Mr. Chitala adds that the PF Government will feel the pressure which will be coming from Students starting this week until it gives the people what belongs to them.

He states that time has come when students union will mobilize students to be part of the stakeholders demanding for the release of the constitution.

The GLOCOSU Secretary General furthermore adds that if the government remains adamant on this one, then it should expect the worst from the students in terms of pressure.

  1. who does this union represent,is this not the same union defending sata on the INDECO issue, who and did they vote for this so called president? please help.

    • sata is one of the worst non-listening president. is it a question of inferiority complex or its old age or lack of education or something else? I miss mwanawasa because he was a listening leader and understood world economic trends but aba beena awe?

    • @ matipa

      you really miss mwanawasa?

The country has to move forward without him. Sata has his own flaws just like mwanawasa had.

there are things that Sata is doing well in that mwanawasa failed to do and vice versa.

      Leadership styles vary

    • Gone are the good old days when students were;
      1. Brilliant and politically conscious.
      2. Really concerned & knowledgeable about the general discourse in national and world affairs
      3. Displayed intellect and obvious distinction between themselves and kaponyas
      4. Had commonness of purpose
      5. Understood and respected the difference between themselves and the working class

    • World over its the students who have led the way, when everyone was scared to stand up to KK, its the students who led the way to freedom. The civil rights movement in United States was led by students.

Come on guys faka pressure we are with you as long as violence is not part of the protest. Mother Zambia needs to be saved from the heartless man – Mr Sata.

    • I don’t think in zambia demonstration have a bite or do anything

How disorganised can the people do, If you want to demonstrate anything on anything go to statehouse

      #backwards

      Thanks

    • @Mushota you’re right. Any demonstration worth it’s sort in Zambia today can only be a march straight to Chumbu Mushololwa’s State House.

    • This Chitala is a typical hothead muselela kwakaba. J ust like his name sake who was championing united states of africa under dictator gaddafi & is now championing indeco. I think it/ hotheadedness runs through the genes.

    • I googled Glocosu on the internet and fortunately or unfortunately its not even there. The last time i heard of Kelvin Chitala was way back at UNZA where he had academic issues with the senate. Did he manage to convince them to remain at UNZA? I need data please.

  2. Oh mwaponoka ba monko, this GLUCOSE is not going anywhere, we shall close your schools beat you and send the ring leaders to court

    • Anyoko when pipo are resolved to do something yu can,t stop them a bullet has never won any political battles but ideals and numbers of pipo in suport of change.we shall work sistmatically like Ants.

  3. Great guys BUT I for one I dont need the Consttitution.

I just want YOUNG MEN &WOMEN who will press for the RESIGNATION of this Govt or Push for Sata to Step down but Mentain the MPs.
Honestly Wht Constitution can UNLEARNED GIVE US.
It PAINS TO B A ZAMBIAN.

  4. @Matipa, if you love Mwanawasa, you can join him wherever he has gone.
PF is working hard to develop infrastructure and does not need any distraction from opposition sponsored Chitalas and Glucose (GLOCOSE)

    • Why are masses agitating for re-introduction of subsidies, lowering of taxes, reduction of price of mealie meal, release of the constitution, , recognition of the Chitimukulu , improvement in the weak exchange rate, lifting of civil service employment ban, reduced ministerial corps, and other alleged injustices and deceptions not to mention unbridled arrogance and dictatorship? A people however you may wish, cannot be forever suppressed or beaten into submission. Mark these words!

  5. A working gov´t that have to have demos for it to heed to what the masses need from them to be done, who voted them in? Election time, even old grannies from all walks of life go out there with HOPE only to have nothing but games. Anyway, word has it that there is no erection time up there.

  6. It’s high time students did something for the country. For a long time students let down the ordinary man. They should know multi party democracy came after students demonstrations.

  7. Only one solution for Zambia to be saved. –Zambia Forward
    President who understands corporate world!!
Viva HH (Vision 2016 or MUCH BEFORE)

  8. The old serpent(aka the cobra) has hardened his heart over the constitution and so everyone has seen the need to pressurise.

  9. CONCENTRATE ON EDUCATION BAKOLWE YOUR FAMILIES ARE SPENDING MILLIONS TO EDUCATE YOU AND YOU GO AND START FIGHTING THE GOVT

  10. DON’T COME TO OUR UNIVERSITY, WE ARE SICK AND TIRED OF CLOSURES SPENDING 7 YRS IN SCHOOL INSTEAD OF 3. YOU PEOPLE THAT JUST SIT AT HOME AND DO NOTHING TOGETHER WITH YOUR POLITICIANS ARE THE ONES CAUSING THE DISTURBANCES. LEAVE US TO LEARN IN PEACE, WE ALSO WANT TO FINISH AND BEGIN TO ENJOY LIFE OUT THERE. SOME OF THE PEOPLE IN SO CALLED STUDENT UNIONS MAY NOT EVEN BE STUDENTS BUT PEOPLE BEING PAID BY POWERS THAT BE.

    • In our days at YUNZA, we had the like of Undi Phiri, Mumba, Kapembwa, and even Fred Membe as powerhouse revolutionaries. That is way back in the mid 80s. We had what we called student consciousness. Today we dorn executive office and managerial gowns but wonder what has happened to the militant student ideals of freedom!! To see our children now looking at the easiest and quickest way to riches than identifying with the oppressed is what in our town we called as ba reactionaries!!! Children, there was a time when State House trembled when students gathered at monk square!!

  11. It is already wrong and enough to do wrong, but it is worse to feel proud of it.
SATA is so proud of wrong doing; the man enjoys wrongs and clearly celebrates when others suffer or are in trouble.
What spirit is at work if SATA enjoys and celebrates evil, wrongs he does and suffering of other people.
Prayer for the Nation is vital and a must for our future.
Zambia has been temporarily beseeched and captured by a strange being (spirit) which must be rooted out.
Yes, this is temporary because the church is praying.
The mistake made was that the same was endorsed by some people from the pulpit. Thus the church authority and power was compromised, and so prayer offered could only hit the roof.
Thank God, the church has began to repent – those who endorsed him have seen their errors are…

  12. LT, Can you please clarify, is the picture above an old one or was it taken this morning?
Usually a ‘File’ picture means one that was taken and used in the past.

    • sata has been named the 1DIOT OF THE WEEK by a times of south africa. read it on ZWD or Zambia Reports. what a shame to have as your president someone who has been classified as an 1diot by your neighbour.

  13. What pressure are you talking about? Breaking and damaging innocent people’s cars? Or vandalising you universities? This is all they have done in the past,MIT makes me wonder what goes on in your narrow minds when you are organizing such demos’ if you are indeed going to do it please leave the innocent people out of this nonsense!

  14. @Tripoli! Waba ITOLE! Just shut yo mouth u don’t seem to know y u are on earth. Mayb u are just as illiterate like sata!

  15. What pressure are you talking about? Breaking and damaging innocent people’s cars? Or vandalising you universities? 17. Please Can some confirm that maureen alangizi mwanawasa. standing on pf ticket in katuba and that she attended interviews.

  18. If the government does not listen, they must allow for avenues for people to air their grievances, otherwise people will reach a breaking point and revolt.

If I were in PF I would address this issue. Just release the draft. It is just a draft. If I were in the commission, I would leak the draft to the internet. It just takes one lost thumb drive, a dropped CD, an email accidentally sent …

  19. @matipa…ha ha what else can you call someone who invests so much resources into a constitution and then turns round and says we dont need it

  20. imwe baice, demonstrate over employment freeze and not ifi ifyabupuba. tamwakabombepo. ba pf balinjipaya kuli employment freeze for two years. we must do something together as one. we want to be employed by the largest employer this year twapapata. ba sata eeeeeeeeee umfweni ukulila kwesu.

  21. Go ahead and demonstate the corps will be on hand to carry out their practicals on the demonstrators instead of slapping walls. Baisa basopo ba kamfinsa na Lilayi recruits.

  22. @ Matipa, may be you were young to understand how Mwanawasa was working. Do you know why he was called ichibumba (wall)? A wall does not move!

  23. GLOCOSU indeed! What a name! How can you be a national student movement but then call your association global bla bla bla…..global in what sense? This is madness at it’s highest level

  24. Protest and be aware the uniform of brutality will crash you will the mighty hands and those giving you k100.00 will be laughing comfortably sipping whiskey I their comfortable sofas. Some will loose their hard earned education because of the spoilers. University students from less able to do families do not engage in something that will damage your chance to achieve your hopes and dreams. Your has not changed the position on your constitution making process. Give a chance and if the govt fails to produce the people’ driven constitution then go ahead and demonstrate as much as you can.

  25. So sad, why do they like to use the youth? I dont agree, let the elders protest, these students should be in class, lets hope there will be no regrets!
