Power Dynamos have won the four-team pre-season tournament staged in Ndola with 13 points after forcing a 1-1 draw against DR Congo side Don Bosco in the two teams’ final match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday.
Don Bosco walked away with silver after ending second with 8 points in the mini-league competition played on round robin.
On the pitch, Don Bosco gave away an early lead to settle for a draw against Power after the two teams recorded two wins on the trot in their opening fixtures.
Ex-Power striker Luka Lungu stunned his former club when he headed Don Bosco in front after 18 minutes connecting a Joseph Sitali teasing cross.
This was before striker Martin Phiri came off the bench to level matters in the 59th minute.
Meanwhile, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns were third at the tournament after recording a win and two defeats, while hosts Zesco United finished rock bottom after three straight losses.
congratulations
I didn’t watch the games. was Mweene in goal for Sundown? His major weakness is allowing silly goals I hope it was not the case again.
You’re spot on. Mweene’s reflexes are waning away, at times he concedes goals just watching motionlessly
I didn’t watch the games. was Mweene in goal for Sundown? you know His major weakness is allowing silly goals and I hope it was not the case again. he can save a penalty but allow a stupid goal.
Sinkala red carded is Sochoux loses 2-0.Sad?
How many points were given for a win for Power to end with 13 points after two wins and Don Bosco 8 after the same number of wins? I thot the top teams all ended on 7 points and Power won on goal difference
Congratulations power90
Zesco host a mini tournament and finishes bottom… very sad indeed
My problem is with ZESCO, who are now losing games at will. Sometimes I question the caliber of some teams and how they get to find themselves on top of the Zambian league yet the same team can manage to lose all the three matches in the four club tournament…………Results such as 0-1, 0-2, and 1-3 losses and you want to represent Zambia!!! Honestly how can our country be known on the world stage if we will always be represented by teams that cant rectify their mistakes?
When the team lost its first match in the tournament, I understood to say maybe the team was still gelling together, then the second loss and then the third loss. This calls for us to worry about ZESCO because soon the team is beginning its CAF games and with such performances already displayed. A Miracle maybe!!!
Congratulations Power Dynamos. Kalampa die hard fan
