Afrisports sign US$400,000 deal

Afrisports have signed an US$ 400,000 partnership deal with Grizzly Mining of Kitwe.

The deal with see Grizzly Mining take a controlling stake in the Kitwe club that has been hit by hard times despite producing Zambia internationals Stopilla Sunzu, Rainford Kalaba, Jacob Mulenga, Christopher Munthali and Aaron Katebe.

“The management of Grizzly Mining Ltd has responded to the request of the Afrisports FC and decided to provide financial assistant in amount of over K2.2 million,” Grizzly Mining director of finance and administration Abdoul Ba said.

“Since we took over one and a half years ago we are very pleased to observe the successful rising of the team because when we took charge the team that was on the verge of relegation.”

And Afrisports founder and CEO Gabriel Kaunda said partnership was the rebirth of Afrisports whose only FAZ Super Division appearance came in the 2005 season before heading into freefall to their current position in FAZ Division Three North.

“With this intervention the team is poised to bounce back to top flight football and produce more quality players who will do both the club and nation proud,” Kaunda said.

  2. Most of these clubs don’t have a business plan. ..its no wonder they are dependent on handouts- they should strive to create 50/50 business partnerships with private firms not like FAZ which is sponging off taxpayer’s.
