MMD vice president for administration Dr Brian Chituwo has no apologies to make to anyone for having private talks with Patriotic Front (PF) secretary general Wynter Kabimba and Post Newspaper owner Fred M’membe to discuss some unknown agenda.
Chituwo said that he had no comments to make on allegations leveled against him and his counterpart Dr Michael Kaingu by MMD’s director of communications Muhabi Lungu that the two had a private meeting with M’membe and Kabimba over unknown agenda, shortly before the public spat demanding for an extraordinary convention.
On Sunday, Lungu challenged both party vice presidents Chituwo and Kaingu to explain to the nation and the party in particular the content of the meeting they held with M’membe and Kabimba.
He said the two should come out in the open and explain the agenda of having a meeting with Kabimba and M’membe at the Post Newspaper offices if it were not a scheme to destabilize the former ruling party.
And Chituwo said there was nothing wrong for him to meet people perceived to be enemies of the former ruling party because he was a senior member of the party.
He said as a senior member of MMD he should be entrusted with the running of affairs of the party and there should be no doubt for his credibility.
“I am not going to comment on what Muhabi said but I must state that I have no apologies to make to anyone. Yes we have had meetings with people but this has nothing to do with the problem that the MMD is facing.
“MMD needs to be transformed because in its current form the party is dying. I can meet anyone anywhere and that should not be a problem for anyone and as a senior citizen and a senior member for the party I should ensure that things are moving in the right direction,” Chituwo said.
Lungu made the challenge when he featured on Zambia National Broadcasting Cooperation (ZNBC) Television’s Sunday Interview where he alleged that both Kaingu and Chituwo had an agenda against the party president which manifested after meeting Kabimba and M’membe.
He charged that it was highly likely that the two MMD officials that met Kabimba and M’membe for some clandestine schemes to cause consternation in the party so that the general membership could rise against Mumba because he had remained a big threat to the Patriotic Front.
Lungu said party vice presidents Dr. Kaingu and Dr. Chituwo had confessed having held meetings with Kabimba and M’membe but had refused to divulge the details of their meetings.
Dr Chituwo, while noting both your seniority in the party and your education credentials, we feel that you should know better about how organisational structures work both in political circles and corporate world.
Your position does require to report back to your boss who in this case is Dr Mumba. Refusing to even share the agenda and later on minutes of those meetings is what is bringing into question your morality and credibility.
By the way these two critical pillars of an individual’s life have nothing to do with position in an organisation or level of education. Transaparency is the cornerstone of moral and credible people.

There can’t be any credibility in a senior opposition party member meeting a dubious ruling party member and his partner in crime SECRETLY without the consent of fellow MMD leaders – it’s absurd to say the least. This is where you can appreciate that leadership does not solely hinge on education.

Dr. Chituwo, you are the weakest link. Bye! These people have ganged up against Nevers Mumba who has been a threat against Michael Sata. How does meeting Kabimba ensure that “things are moving in the right direction”? You think we are sleeping? No! We want Kabimba and his lot out of government and yet you are meeting with them. How does that help the “junior” citizens of our lovely country? You, sir, need to leave the MMD to people who really care about it. As far as MMD is Concerned, Nevers is Best President coz he was voted for. PF knows this fact so they r working on it.
It is also Shocking, that opposition is not seeing that PF is capitalizing on this weakness to strike.
We need stronger opposition (MMD, UPND etc) for the Nation to move forward.

We love the MMD not because of is holding what office or who is doing what. The MMD to us youth is our only hope for the future. It is the only democratic party. Your generation has failed us and has failed mother Zambia. I see the youth taking over this party in the near future .We are not sitting idle we are networking and getting stronger.. Our current Leadership Will soon be irrelevant.. So Doc. Just leave or do things properly..why should all of you speak through the press why couldn’t you call a NEC meeting and deal with the issues and come out with one voice one strategy..Our leaders are showing signs of weakness we need to save the MMD and Zambia our motherland.

Surely if MMD has failed, the vice presidents should share the blame rather than heaping all the blame on Nevers Mumba. In modern era every organisation is run as a team and NEVERS is one person who believes in that principle. When we’re are constantly bombarded with same headline story in the Post newspaper, you’ve got to know there is a hidden agenda being hatched by Mmembe. The “uprising” by Kaingu, Chituwo, Mulusa, Dora et al has gone stale not because it may not be genuine, but because of involvement of “external factors” in M’membe and Kabimba. For the first time, Dr Nevers Mumba has gained some credibility in my eyes. I will consider him an option after HH. Of course PF is NO option at all, ZERO OPTION!!!

The same was said when they were approached of having meetings among themselves to remove Dr Mumba and they refused and indicated that they could meet anyone they wanted, however a few days later they started calling for Dr Mumba’s removal. In terms of this now only time will tell.
If they remove Dr MMD against principles , UPND and other opposition Parties please very careful in terms of alliances with them.

Dr Chituwo you are a let down and the statement above is not in line with someone who wants to help the party grow. this does not add up because you are at the center of destroying MMD. if the statement above was true you could have been trying to help the party move forward, but because of kani yakan’gono you have been compromised. Suppose the meetings are actually plotting how to destabilize PF using the Post and Kabimba trying to reposition himself strategically. Why should it be a one-sided scenario, are there no strategists in MMD that can plot to cause confusion in PF? Muhabi please get a life!
