MMD vice-president for politics Michael Kaingu has decided to report party president Nevers Mumba to the police today in a bid to stop him from convening a national executive committee (NEC) meeting this Saturday.

The meeting is scheduled to fill the vacant position of national secretary.

Dr Kaingu said yesterday that police should not allow the NEC meeting to take place on Saturday because the security of some senior leaders is not guaranteed.

Dr Kaingu, who is Mwandi member of Parliament (MP), said he will personally report the matter to Lusaka Central Police Station today because MMD youths led by Bowman Lusambo have allegedly threatened to beat up senior leaders perceived to be against Dr Mumba.

He alleged that Mr Lusambo and other youths are on record that they will beat him if he and other NEC members calling for an extraordinary convention attend the meeting.

“The group which is led by a young man called Lusambo is threatening to beat us who are perceived not to support Nevers Mumba, the group where I belong with Siliya, [MMD spokesperson Dora Siliya], Mulusa [former Solwezi Central member of Parliament Lucky Mulusa] and others,” Dr Kaingu said.

He said it is unfortunate that Mr Lusambo has allegedly been threatening to “sort out” senior leaders through the media if they turn up at the NEC meeting.

“Meanwhile, we have been invited for the same meeting. If we have to attend this meeting, what is logical is that we should also carry with us protection, whatever protection we shall have within ourselves and within our youths. We have to call for youths also, and that will mean clashes with that group,” he said.

“If the police are going to allow that meeting to go ahead, they will be courting violence. The duty of the police is to stop crime and this meeting provides an opportunity for crime to be committed, so it should not be allowed to go ahead.”

When contacted, Dr Mumba said the correct position on the NEC meeting will be communicated by acting national secretary Chembe Nyangu.

“The correct position comes from the national secretary, he is the only one mandated to issues a statement about NEC meetings.

The media have to wait for a statement from the secretariat but the meeting is scheduled within this month,” Dr Mumba said.

But according to a circular dated April 17, the MMD is scheduled to hold its NEC meeting on April 26 and it has invited all NEC members to attend.

And Mr Nyangu said he has not received instructions from Dr Mumba to postpone the NEC meeting following security concerns by some senior leaders.

“I have not received any instruction from the president to cancel the meeting because the one who called for the meeting is the president,” Mr Nyangu said.

He said although some MMD members want the NEC meeting to be postponed, it is up to Dr Mumba to make the decision.

    • Sata is the biggest looser in all this. He thinks he can buy out everyone, no Mwana.

Kaingu, Kafumukache and all sell-outs will come to State House get a chunk, pretend there distabilising the MMD and vanish only to reapear at State House when broke.

Sata bamugong’a Zoona. Time is up Old Rug

  1. Ba Kaingu don’t incite people to start thinking like you, as if you have never been to school. It is not you to tell the police, the police will come and do their job as usual unless Sata stops them. But cannot stop them if he did not stop them to go to Chitimukulu’s palace for many days. Even here they will protect Dr. Mumba and other Zambian citizens period. Dr. Mumba you are on the right track and God bless.

    • Kaingu, seriously you need some beating so that you can wake up! Are you a medical doctor or witchdoctor ?

    • So you can call and ask police to deny you permits for your own party meetings yet you cry foul saying the police are denying you permits to hold meetings. You’re justifying police ban on your meetings because, according to you Kaingu, MMD is violent? What kind of thinking is this?

  2. Evil should not be allowed to win.Are we going to stop living because we fear evil.Look what the people of New York did after 9/11 they encouraged everyone to visit New York! WE can not cower to terrorism. If there is a threat of violence at the NEC meeting just take body guards and let security officers be there. But let the meeting go on.We know PF has bought you Kaingu and you are very confident that the PF police will help you screw up the MMD

  3. On this one Mr. Vice President I support fully, these rabit dogs for Dr. Nevers Mumba are armed with all sorts of weapons, I found SCORPION KABOBI yesterday buying pangas for the same meeting on Saturday, they will do you CHAWAMA way. How can aPastor USE such criminals in the names of KADOBI, LUSAMBO AND MTONGA. It is very sad that some decent NEC members in the camp of NEVERS MUMBA are not seeing all these dirty schemes by this pastor. This Pastor he is been failing to fund the Party operations like by-election, but now he has money to buy off Provincial Chairmen and Chairladies to reject the extra-ordinary convention, the only body which can resolve wrangles amicably, why is he fearing the convention? we are now told he wants this NEC meeting to endorse him as Presidential candidat

    • With or without endorsement from NEC Dr Mumba is the legitimate leader of MMD until 2016 at the next election. An endorsement will not be a bad idea either, it sends a message to those bought by PF that MMD means business to reclaim liberties people have been robbed.Kaingu’s agenda is well known, he doesn’t need to be there if his presence will disrupt proceedings.A peaceful NEC meeting called by the party president must go ahead.

  4. Why using youths, why not ask for Police Protection instead of cancelling the meeting.

    “We shall deploy unorthodox means”
    “MMD should be deregistered”
    and now
“Police should stop NEC Meeting” hmmm!!!
Not sure what is next ………

    • @ Polititian,
We all know how desperate they are to bring down Dr Mumba. Just him calling on the police to stand in the way tells how far they are prepared to go ofcourse with the support of we know “whom”! Who must have promised him support no matter the cost!
I advise MMD to sue should police disturb their meeting, they as a party have rights to hold meetings, discipline or discharge members who they think are tracherous! People….. regardless of which party you support, not a politician or neutral please lets all stand by MMD and DR Mumba, for we dont want to allow acertain indivinduals achieve their dirty selfish agendas.
That agenda is, the less strong opposition parties, the more chances to wipe out the “Tonga Party”! forgive me UPND for using that term thats their mind set!

  5. LIAM uli chipuba why cant u see sense in whant HON. KAINGU is saying? Actually NEVERS camp have more evil people, u shud not use the name of the lord in vein, the truth is there for everyone on the people the so called Youths surrounding NEVERS are u telling me that u don’t know that SCORPIN KADOBI was one of the thugs SATA used to beat and axing innocent FDD supporters in CHAWAMA and this same KADOBI visited state house recently and had a meeting with SATA, what was he told to do and how much was he given? these are questions for those PEOPLE supporting NEVERS shud ask themselves, how can a body guard KADOBI go state house and NEVERS shift accusing finger to KAINGU, this man of GOD is a fraud star. These Provincial Chairmen he gives money have no people were jst hand picked

  6. It has come to our attention that in his desperation and panic yesterday NEVERS MUMBA went to meet former President RB and he cheated him about other NEC members who are calling for the extra-convention. My appeal to RB is that please keep away from this man, he is not a honest pastor he just want to use your name in vein as he is using the name of GOD in vein. RB people stil want u to come back just keep it cool forget about this pastor who is a failure. Also Mr. President (RB) be careful with MUHABI LUNGU this chap is a snake he is not straight his ambitions will not take him anywhere.

  7. All of you suggesting wrong against a NEC meeting are evil with a hidden agenda,in all sense Dr mumba is right about holding a NEC meeting,so that the meeting these guys had with kabimba should be discussed among many other issues affecting the Party. kaingu has no respect for the party constitution with regard to his reckless actions, this just shows how a failed leader he is,no wonder iris is able to behave like that, because as an elderly statesman he should have had condemed his daughter’s behavior publicly to uphold his status in society, but instead failed and now wants to bring confusion into a MMD,if the kaingu’s hijack the party then my vote is out. Dr this is open and the devil has seen it,that is why all this nonsense, however take heart and continue with the NEC meeting as that…

  8. President elect uli chipuba saana, how do you bring IRIS in ths issue? How do say Kaingu wants to hijack the MMD when it is NENVERS MUMBA’S camp who wants to hijack it because they all defectors from other parties: here is the line up of hijackers:
1.NEVERS MUMBA is from NCC and RP
    2. His advisor Mr. Nakachinda from NCC and RP
    3. Another silent advisor Mr. Sokoni from NCC and RP
    4. Mr. Muhabi LUNGU from and he killed UNIP
    5. Hon. Levy Ngoma an opportunist from FDD
    6. Hon. Howard Kunda no political back ground
    7. Hon. Mbulakulima old member but he is a known traitor he caused losing of job his former boss at State Insurance on tribal lines bcoz he was a tonga.
    8. Mrs. Sinyangwe from rebel group PF
    9. Dr. Machungwa from rebel group PF
    10. Amb. Musenge NCC and RP
    11. Mrs…

    • You sound a bitter man with countless unresolved issues in your head. Your reasoning is muddled up and your priorities if any, are misplaced. The MMD project is constantly evolving around People willing to support the cause of democratic governance in civil liberates irrespective of when or how they joined this machinery. It’s the Zambian project designed for whoever has fresh input and willing to defend what it stands for. It’s not a Kaponya family tree or a party dependent upon one man’s wallet even if there is no conviction in his ability to rule. Do you honestly expect Nevers to trust Kaingu’ and Chituwo as his Vice Presidents or Dora and Mulusa as advisors?

    • Ba impostor “lusambo”,the MMD Consititution allows the Party President to nominate 10 NEC Members. But you see NEC has 62 Members,so even the 10 nominated are far less when it comes to voting over an issue.MMD problem is that they’ve never been in opposition before. Now we have to see the genuine members without money from State House.

    • You have a short memory, just to remind you, when Mumba joined MMD, he initially joined with the whole NCC, so infact NCC members were co-op ted into MMD. My point is former NCC members are now MMD members so how did they hijack when the merge was televised and a press conference made public? And this idea that MMD is only for founders is just dim, that’s why we don’t have continuity in the first place.
This culture of using parties to enrich ourselves and dump them when we wear them down is deplorable. Then to add salt to injury when people like Mumba attempt to re-organize the party you squeeze him, because you won’t allow a man to rebuild what you considered finished. Long live opposition, Lord know we need a strong opposition regardless of who is in power, it’s called…

  9. Kaingu is not normal,we all know that when he was marrying another woman he made his first wife matron at that wedding. The man is insane he cant even think properly

  10. Ba Kaingu, just go ahead and attend this meeting, carry whatever protection you have within your means. Thereafter if clashes occur you call the police, period!

  11. Mr.Kaingu,Don’t cause confusion;your statement is inciting youths.if your are against the meeting please don’t attend.Remember what happened to Mr.Kachingwe

    • The Youths Kachingwe called, turned against him, when they realized that he was a traitor and he wanted a coup detat on the legally elected President,Dr Mumba. So Kaingu should be careful, the same Youths he arranges may turn against him.

  12. Saturday is not very far. Kafu is showing his true colors of brown envelopes. PF cadres we know Mr. Sata better than most of you who were not even born when some of us worked with him at City council. I never voted and will never vote for a person with no morals-from women, lust, greed for money, intolerance to violence against opponents, those are his ingrained traits and he can never change. Sata is one of the worst criminals Zambia ever had. He walks in suits (and these days fancy african attire) but he is a born, pathological liar, womaniser, jealous and avaricious dictator.

  13. Interesting to note that mr Kaingu and his lot did not raise the same concerns when the same Bowman Lusambo was at the centre of harassing and beating up one Major Kachingwe, Namugala’s, et al. Should we assume Kaingu, Siliya, Chituwo, et al, were behind that? Now that they are getting a bit of their own medicine, suddenly it doesn’t seem fair! This is most disengenous indeed. What’s good for the goose… I’m no fan of Mumba myself, but fairness and justice demands that this frustrated power-hungry clique within the MMD has, without realizing it, just put the final nail in the MMD coffin. RIP MMD.

  14. Kaingu and Siliya both have these in common: Kaingu – failure at ZAF, failure as father and failure as politician. Siliya – failure as wife, failure as Minister and failure as politician. There’s. A sports saying this side of the world that aptly describes these two: “Three strikes, you are out”. They are both finished.

    • Agreed, but you left out Nevers a failed pastor, failed republican vice president, and failed party president. They are all a bunch of failures and headless chickens.
      Where is Rose Zimba?

  15. All the positions are vacant, both parties have failed. When did Mtonga visit Rufunsa or Kafue for a card renewal exercise. When did Lusaka district under Lungu conduct constituencies.
The proposed meeting is null and void, if you have money to waste give it to the branches.
We miss Austin Chewe, Pabs Musonda, Kuliye,Pole Pole and the late Lindon Mfugwe.
    Rose Zimba for President

  16. This type of thinking by mr Kaingu and co. defies logic. They won’t attend an NEC meeting called by Mumba because they are scared of being attacked, yet at the same time they want Mumba to call for a convention to choose new leadership. What makes them think they will not be attacked at that convention any more than they will be attacked at this Saturday’s NEC meeting? It seems to me Kaingu should be calling on the police to provide security at both events instead of calling on police to stop one event from proceeding while allowing the other. You cannot have your cake and eat it, mr Kaingu. Your line of reasoning is seriously defective; just as defective as Mumba’s pathetic claims that Kaingu’s clique is being paid by Sata to distabilize his leadership of MMD. And I am no fan of…

  17. (Continued from above…). And I am no fan of Sata or the PF. The tragic reality of the situation in Zambia today is that there has been a shameful betrayal of the Zambian people by Sata and his cohorts by their sheer incompetence, greed and abuse of power. The country has been taken down a path of tribal politics never before seen in our country. I feel ashamed just to think income from the same province as this pathetic excuse of a president and all who still support him in driving our country into the ground like this. The damage done will take decades to undo or correct. It’s time to stand up and say enough is enough!

  18. Civilized people fight with their heads and not with their hands. In Zambia, the opposite is true. Any opposition is met head-on with physical fights. It speaks loudly, not only of our uncivilized culture as a people, but also of the fact that we are intellectually immature. We tend to rely more on throwing stones and pangas than on throwing ideas at each other. Insults and name calling are also used generously in conversations. That, unfortunately, is our Zambia.
