MMD president Nevers Mumba says he is not bothered by the fact that those advocating for the convening of an extraordinary convention have secured required number of petitions to hold a convention to elect a new leadership.
Dr. Mumba says he is focused on today’s national executive committee (NEC) meeting.
He says the fact those calling for a convention have managed to garner the necessary petitions will not stop the NEC meeting from taking place.
Dr. Mumba has told QFM news that the NEC meeting will not be put off because the issue of the convention will be part of what will be discussed in the NEC meeting.
Asked whether he thinks the MMD needed a new leadership, Dr. Mumba says he does not see any reason why the party will need a new leadership when he is already a new leader for the former ruling party.
He however notes that the issue could be that there could be some members of the party that are failing to fit in the new MMD under his leadership.

We are cleaning up the party. We cannot allow failures to come and hijack the MMD and destroy it. Nevers can go back to his parties and so should Muhabi. Their members are still waiting for them.
HH and UPND all the way at least they have no failures in Govt that can be assessed, what can Old MMD do that they failed to do in 20 years, they failed to reduce the dollar to less than what they found it with UNIP, they failed to improve upon the infrastructure that KK left, back to ministers going for health check ups abroad, corruption, purported rigged elections etc, no old MMD should be voted back in power.
If old MMD can coup a democratically elected President how much more can they coup General elections in order to stay in power, we all have not forgotten of Mazoka and Sata were elected by Zambian but the elections were purported rigged. What was the price of Mealie Meal when the old MMD took over from UNIP, what was the price of Fuel, no you cannot compare yourself against PF, the simple reason is than you failed in your 20 years of misrule, Zambians cannot be taken for granted again, it is even wiser to try HH and UPND the party of the moment.
What guarantees does the old MMD have that people will elect non performing MP’s, what have your MP’s have to show in their constituencies in the 20 years of misrule, Zambians cannot be taken for granted by the old MMD. The old MMD caused RB to loose, if the Old MMD are intelligent like they like to put it why did MMD lose in 2011, Zambians are not going back to old MMD. All opposition parties should be careful of merging with the old MMD they will do the same thing to the opposition parties that they have done to their democratically elected President.
Zambia is a man for you. He has every quality leader. Nevers Mumba. Just wonder why we do not like this man. His speech says it all, is the man Zambia may need.

Mumba can put a stop to all this by declaring another election and putting himself forward. That is what western leaders do to silence their opponents. If he gets re-elected the agitators will be put to shame. May be he is not sure he can win fairly.
Those who are calling for the ‘cleaning up’ of the party are just advocating for MMD to be turned into another one-man party, like PF, UNIP and UPND. MMD needs an injection of money. It needs people who are selfless and are willing to work for the good of the party and the country. It does not need another selfish leader who is just happy to use the high profile the leadership of the party gives him to raise money for himself.
All Nevers needs to do is screw Dora Siliya that what she expected from him when she supported him last time.
