Alliance for Better Zambia (ABZ) has said that it will be hard for the Patriotic Front Government to convince Zambians to sacrifice as long as leaders in Government continue to enjoy at the expense of the poor in the country.

In a press statement released to the media, ABZ Chairperson for Labour and Social Security Chairperson Ireen Muluazi said the PF leaders should lead by example by starting to sacrifice themselves as not doing so will make it difficult for Zambians accept that they will be sacrificing for the nation.

“It will be extremely difficult for the Patriotic Front (PF) government to convince Zambians to sacrifice let alone government workers accepting the wage freeze because PF has failed to lead by example.

“While we recognized the fact that no country has recorded meaningful development and general advancement without huge sacrifices by its people, we think that many Zambians are not ready to sacrifice because government leaders continue to enjoy the good things of life at the expense of the poor majority.

“The PF government has given itself salary increments and various improvements in their conditions of service since they came into power in 2011. They have never done anything to share the burden of millions of Zambians who suffer. It seems PF leaders believe that they sacrificed while in the opposition and now is the time for them to enjoy the fruits of being in government,” Ms Muluazi explained.

She further said: “We know that PF leaders may argue that they don’t intend to increase their salaries and other conditions during the same period but what they should not forget is that the public knows that they are already comfortable to the extent that even if they don’t offer themselves another increment they will remain well insulated from lacking the luxuries of life.

“Against this background, our considered view is that the PF government has no choice but to lift the wage freeze. However, it is our hope and prayer that an amicable solution will be found to save the country loses that come with industrial anarchy especially in critical sectors including health and education.”

  1. Wage freeze is not necessary

Africans are genetically been known for working for nothing
Even sewerage companies and bin collection in the UK are done by AFricans

No need for a minimum wage because by default zambians will accept anything as they are not the smartest people i have met here in Glasgow or the UK

    Thanks

If you haven’t noticed, many bloggers have started to ignore your posts because they realize that you enjoy the attention that comes from the silly controversy you create. Everyone now knows the following:
    1. That you are not a Zambian woman, but a Zambian man
    2. That you do not live in the UK, but that you local
    3. That you like to generate debate by taking the unpopular view or stance
    4. That you are actually mentally deranged, though with some civility.
This is the last reaction you will get from me about your posts.

    • This is because of the “Chief Trojan Horse” aka ABC who failed in the 70s and currently failing. Even the account payable officer I reckon can do better than incumbent and incompetent Chikwandanian economics of colonial rule.
The cheeks have grown and lips fattened, thus PF leaders, whilst the citizens are boney and covered up by mere body skin.
Can not forgive the PF regime for taking people for granted and leaving the majority to suffer hunger, so is poverty.
A live dog is better than a dead Lion-Proverbs’9:6.

  3. I will never be a fan of Fr. Bwalya, he let the dogs out now he what us to commend him for trying to flog and hush the dogs.

  4. Lame argument that can`t justify why the people shouldn’t sacrifice through a wage freeze. The Greek economy is a good example. It collapsed because petty politicians like Father Walya convinced the masses not to accept government proposals like wage freeze`s and other cuts on spending. Think through things before you take that podium Father Walya.

  5. Dear Zambians and Trade Unions in particular, demand for higher wages will just lead to a cycle of higher prices and wages. This will result in high inflation which is no good to our economy – too much money chasing to few goods. You must be aware that inflation is a worse evil than unemployment. To cure unemployment we need investment in real production of goods and services at affordable wages. If wages are too high investors will not employ because cost of doing business will be too high. Let us sacrifice consumption today for a better Zambia tomorrow

  6. FCB thank you.

Fr Walya and HH know this very well. They think by criticising everything gov does is going to make them popular. Wait and see how the citizens will hate you once things start getting better. I can assure you before the end of next year, Zambia will be a safe haven for all
