Catherine Phiri puts her WBC silver female bantamweight belt on the line when she fights Kukiwe Nonina of South Africa on Saturday at the Government Complex in Lusaka.
Unbeaten Catherine enters the ring in search of her tenth successive professional win.
She takes on the 23-year-old South African female bantamweight champion who is unbeaten in her last five fights.
“I will not allow anyone to easily get my title. It more difficult to challenge the belt than win it, so she should not expect any favours from me,” Catherine said.
Catherine enters the ring with a slight weight advantage over Nonina on 52.9 and 52.4 Kg’s respectively from Friday’s official pre-fight weigh-in in Lusaka.
What Nonina has to her advantage is her height and reach which could pose the Zambian problems.
“I am not here on holiday, I am here to beat Catherine if she has never being beaten I am here to beat her, her record is last thing on my mind,” Nonina said.
Nonina’s record stands at six wins and two defeats since she first entered the ring in 2011.
