Seleman Banda challenges PF presidential aspirants to TV debate

PF aspiring presidential candidate Seleman Phangula Banda has challenged other PF presidential aspirants to a televised national debate.

Captain Phangula said a televised public debate should be held before the general conference to enlighten the party membership across the country about the aspiring presidential candidates.

In a statement availed to ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mr Banda said that the debate would also give an opportunity to the public to evaluate the manifestos of the ten PF presidential aspirants.

He said the extraordinary conference which often takes place in two days might not allow and provide the party delegates with time to have a thorough knowledge of each candidate.

Captain Phangula Banda said the debate would enhance independence and objectivity of the delegates to choose a candidate on the basis of a good development programme and a proven track record of managing national affairs.

He further said that the nation and PF members who do not qualify to attend the conference will be availed with cardinal information to make an information decision to choose a nationally acceptable representative president.

Former first lady Christine Kaseba is the only female aspirant among ten hopefuls who include Defence and Justice Minister Edgar Lungu, Minister of Sports Chishimba Kambwili, Minister of Commerce Robert Sichinga and Minister of Agriculture Wilbur Simuusa.

Others are Lusaka Mayor Mulenga Sata, Commerce Deputy Minister Miles Sampa, former Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, former Diplomat Captain Seleman Phangula Banda and Kabwata Law maker Given Lubinda.

  1. Dear Mr Phangula,
Your idea is ok but it has the following weaknesses:
    1. We cannot judge your intellegence and leadership capacity in the little time you are proposing on national TV. We have been atching and evaluating all of you for years now.
    2. people like you do know that you are suppose to be followers not leaders and yet you go ahead hallucinating.
    3. What leadership position do you hold currently?
    4. Talking is different from doing. You will be alone talking but running a government involves thousands of people.
    5. Your thinking is business as usual.
