The Cartel has not gone to sleep

Share

Dear Editor,

Good vs Evil! Fire vs Water!

These are some of the catch phrases used to describe vastly conflicting, contrasting and competing interests, usually at all cost and often without any compromise.

While the eyes of a nation in moaning are fixated on the squabbles happening within the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) and the previous ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD), everyone seems to have forgotten the existence of the ‘Cartel’. No the cartel has not gone to sleep because the cartel doesn’t sleep. They will move mountains to maintain their hold onto to power, no matter what it takes; at all cost and without any compromise.

What is at stake in this forth-coming presidential by-election is not only a replacement of the deceased Michael Sata. Rather what is at stake is the future of the country. This election is about ‘Good vs Evil’. Time and time again Zambians in their ‘peace-loving people’ decorum naivety (excuse my French) have chosen to vote for mediocre leadership due to their failure to look beyond the rhetoric of ‘more money in your pocket’ and ’90 days of heaven’.

The gullible and unsuspecting Zambians have been beaten before, not once, not twice but almost every time they have gone to the polls. Beyond the gullibility and the naivety is the failure to analyse events of the past, the moment and then use them to predict the future.

Simple questions to help them base the decision on the direction of the future of their country – questions like: What? Where? When? How? – have been thrown in the gutter.

It is for these reasons that we might end up with yet another mediocre and lame duck president the day after these presidential by-elections. Almost everyone now thinks the ‘CARTEL’ has gone to sleep; like they don’t care anymore about retaining their power and they are ready to give it away to whoever is a people’s choice. WRONG!

The cartel may be quiet now but it would be naïve to think they have gone to sleep and given up on who becomes our next president. Like all of a sudden they don’t care anymore. Forget about Lungu, forget about GBM, forget Mwenye, forget Miles Sampa, heck forget even Scott – forget about what they think or their ambitions. The truth is, in my opinion anyway, what really matters is what the Cartel thinks. They may be quiet and seemingly ‘confused’ but that’s just because they are still figuring out the best way to proceed or who their best chances are and how to execute the plan to help them retain their power. You never know, they may even be courting HH in the background at the moment, making unholy deals with him. And I doubt HH will decline an offer from the Cartel to grant him power (literally) – this might be the worst betrayal to everything the man has stood for and to his supporters but the Cartel are that brutal in their quest not to relinquish power. They just ha
ve so much at stake.

Just remember they still wield power in almost every functional government department – from the National Assembly’s Speaker; the DPP; Attorney General; Supreme and High Court Judges; all the way to the caretaker President. I believe they even have defence and law enforncement service chiefs in their pocket.

The point here is Zambians have to guard against the Cartel… they shouldn’t forget about them and they should never get their eyes off the price. No one will come to your aid; you have to do it yourself. Read between the lines and don’t be distracted by the ‘public spats’ in PF and MMD. The ‘evil’ is the Cartel! The ‘fire’ is the Cartel… only good can triumph over the Cartel; only ‘water’ can quench the Cartel fire. Zambian voters are the ‘good’ and the ‘water’! Vote wisely!

  1. But the PF is already under the cartel despite the person who wins Saturday’s selection of presidential candidate. So don’t we need to get rid of the PF to get rid of the cartel?

    • The Cartel is a media persona that only exists in the easily influenced people by the propaganda to the symposium of masses.

There is such thing as the Cartel every time you give ‘it’ recognition you are merely making an imaginary term seem probable.

Nonsensical drivel I have just wasted my 2 minutes on

      Thanks

      (Best blogger winner 2014)

    • Whichever President is elected, the Cartel will shift camp and support that person. It is a highly organised, demonic group of miscreants!

    • According to the message above. that cartel will infiltrate anyone whether PF or not. So the idea of removing PF to remove the cartel is irrelevant my dear. The solution lies in getting the correct candidate. One who cannot be bought. HH loves money and who knows, maybe he has changed. Although now he’s started lying about free education, tax incentives etc, those are now lies. Where will he get the money to run the Country with?

    • People dont be stnpid please, the cartel only exists in dull minds, people who are lazy to think independently. Mmembe like GBM, Nsanda, Mathani etc is a businessman and naturally would side with a winning team for obvious reasons and thats it, nothing more. Lungu’s team will ride this cartel nonsense until elections because thats all they got to win votes.
Anyone who believes this cartel exists is a fuul.

    • Cartels are everywhere , Scottland could not get independence because of rich business men based in Edinburgh( cartels) who did not want to lose their businesses in London, they influenced the votes in that country.
Coming to Zambia, the Cartel group Mathani , mumembe etc want to protect their interests at all cost.RB sold finance bank for a song ,you think they want a repeat of that?
In developed countries rise / fall of shares on stock markets are influenced by the political situation of that country.
So deal with it.such is the world we live in . Business !!
If Katumbi is funding Kaseba whats in it for him?

    • The writer addresses the ‘na!vety’ and ‘gull!bility’ of Zambian voters and the comments here prove him/her right.

Not long ago everyone was celebrating the dismissal of one Wynter Kabimba, a sign that raised hopes that perhaps sooner the seemingly indispensable so called ‘Cartel’ will account for their actions. The 14 billion ZMK would be paid and poor Zambians would soon be paid their tax. Indeed we saw the panic in the Chief ‘Cartel’ judging from the editorials. We even saw the pnppets from ZRA growing some bigger b@lls and p0unced on and r@ided Bw!njifumu Rd premises.

As if fate, Sat@ died and we were back to square one… The constitution was interpreted quickly and power exchanged hands.

I doubt they will allow anyone to ask them to pay what they owe in 2015.

  2. This cartel thing, why waste your energy writing these senseless article,if you sense that PF is embroiled in corruption as most Zambians are now realizing don’t waste your vote ,vote for a viable party instead of having sleepless nights thinking about the cartel thing in addition compaign against them. You are busy panicking when they are busy making money.nowander we are still poor because of useless people like you in the society of the learned.

  3. A number of PF members are cartel and those are the same guys who doesnt want Edagr Lungu to take over PF so if Lungus doesnt make it at the convention then we all support HH and get Zambia out of the strong cartel.

    • Even if Edgar Lungu wins at the PF general conference the cartel members are deeply embedded in PF. So the solution is whether Edgar Lungu wins or not it is HH— and the country has decided….

  4. There is nothing like a Cartel in PF….the cartel terminology is just in your head.A cartel to who since HE died ? Leave PF alone and if you think the opposition will win then u are day dreaming.

  5. HH is not going anywhere. He wont be president now or in 2016.

Upnd cadres you can unlike my post all u like. But ifwe fyebena Northern Zambia taikaimone vote yesu!! Northern Luapula Muchinga, Copperbelt Eastern are for PF.

    • You are right my dear, they are excited for nothing, even if PF put the most unlikely candidate or the weakest HH cant win because Northern part of Zambia will never let him

    • You are not in Zambia brother–if you were in Zambia and on the ground you cannot write this. HH is next president you do not need a prophet to tell you about this. It is a done deal…Farmers not yet paid, wage freeze, employment freeze, retirement age raised to 65yrs by PF,NO CONSTITUTION, KAMBWILI FIGHTING MEDIA HEADS, Loan from outside alarming, Panga boys hacking innocent Zambians all under PF the list is endless brother..no miracle can save PF at this juncture–

    • All these provinces you hve mentioned are for bembas, dats why coz PF is for Bembas. Bet me u will see nd get suprised to see HH win.

  6. HH is not the solution to begin with his name is not clean and he doesnt have an agenda for this country apart from stopping Bembas. who knows may be he is working with cartel to fuel confusion in PF! well meaning Zambians with lungu they will be no tribes and he has acted before. HH oposed everything PF did including vending. WHY SHUD HE CHANGE TODAY?

  7. I am in Zambia and I have seen for myself the situation on the ground. This blubber mouth (HH) the Goatfather was on Hot fm this morning and he gave fake promises for development. but he admitted he’s a political amature never having been in government. his wife can’t speak english. He (HH) has no sensible agenda, he’s just a misguided youth. There’s no such thing as a Cartel mr author, stop dreaming and vote PF.

    • A bit cheap, English is a language and even if the wife cannot speak English is a non issue. I guess you also have relatives who cannot speak English brother. Be proud of you tribe. These are the issues which are helping HH to become famous because people think the criticisms towards him are fake. HH is standing for presidency and not the wife. How come the Russians have gone to the moon using the Russian language and not English…the Chinese are building china in medarian come on brother….bring real issues…not this cheap English talk…….

    • The likes of Monde,Kudos,FTJ,Mubemba Inkoko are PF vuvuzelas with no sense of reasons.People have already made up there minds to vote for HH.This tribe thing will not help you because Zambians know that its just a gimmick to blind wise voters. In modern Zambia were we have mixed blood like Natasha Mweembe ,Lubinda Mpundu,or Kangwa chipego.people like Kudos we call them Ba fontini or backward people.Lekeni umwaiche ateke.Twanaka na bakote.FlightHH2015,is landing at plot one.ViVa HH.VIVA new Zambia.

    • HH is the next president brother—-unfortunately it is too late to stop him..I am bemba and have since shifted camp to freight HH…Am in Kasama right now and last week I was in Ndola rural under world vision the mood is shifted brother. forget about this issue of HH coming to remove bembas from office. He wants a government for all Zambians…..sorry when time comes it has come and truly HH’s time has come weather we like it or not the majority of Zambians have made up there mind. Am a field worker and do a lot of travelling and can smell the coffee.

    • That’s exactly what Kaunda said about sata, but he won 2011 elections and name the airport after him. things do change one day upnd shall rule zambia

    • Kale twabeba, please tell them again. Can someone in UPND tell Zambians what HH has contributed to this great country to warranty their votes? Please don’t tell us about CVs, we all have them and some of us use them very well in our development.
Just answer this very simple question. What has been HHs contribution to Zambia’s development?
PF has demonstrated that it can transform Zambia in a specific time period and that’s what matters. Politics is about delivery and not yapping, please please advise HH accordingly.
So the PF man will continue with its mandate for it is already written. People want and need this man in PF and am sure we all know him…..

  8. You can lie to blind people. So far you just say Cartel, cartel, cartel! Please show us some investigative journalism. You look like you are also part of some cartel. How can we be so silly to believe something that does not exist. Osama Bin Laden was running from the Americans because they had a case against him.If the so called cartel is at fault you can expose them. But you have lamentably failed!

  9. OMG you guys are really feeling the heat from HH. Contriving all sort of unfounded accusation towards a man whose only crime is to serve the country despite is successful career. You must be a bunch of losers.

    • @ Vilifier, I have a problenm with just bloging and yet the party is not on the ground! I am in Western Province right now and am not seeing any signs of UPND on the ground! This is where the UPND loses all the time. Guy and Sata took time to get to the rural areas and sale their lies whcih people bought! Don’t think Kanyama represents Zambia nor does Mandevu. Let the work intensify out there in the rustic areas! Otherwise it will be the same old tune…PF 33,000; MMD 8,000 and UPND 3,100!…always number 3. Can’t somebody out there restrategise for the good of UPND?

  10. HH was against our salary increase,he sold our companies and pocted our money, if UPND presidency is for Tongas only why shud other tribes vote for him? what of embalmed meat if he cares for? Bembas need to be protected by not voting HH becoz they are pipo like us

    • Am real mwinelubemba and am voting HH…this tribal nonsense must stop. Zambia is not for us only. It is for all Zambians including people who do not come from our tribe. In any case am married to a lozi woman so why should I be tribal…..

  11. There are many cartels – after all one only has to understand the definition.

So if this reference is to a particularly powerful group of individuals or businesses out to control decisions and limit competition (politically or economically) then the ballot box is their only focus.

If I were in that cartel my tentacles would be everywhere right about now. In other words it doesn’t matter who you vote for – omnipotence rules. If I were desperate I would try to rig the results. If I were just plain stupid or believed in my supreme manipulation I would ignore people’s will and impose my own.

My money is on the fact that if indeed such a cartel exists, their eyes are on the kind of money and deals we never think or hear about. At that level global cartels control them. Just vote.

  12. Cartel is a shot lived animal what come may. The important issue all Zambians should look at is the future Zambia must run economically,we have to look at the children , what benefit and respect shall they render to us as parents of today in the so called hopeless cartels. Zambian must look beyond tomorrow inorder to shape the future of our nation . Whether cartel or greediness ,selfish motives our appeal to all Zambians is to forget and move above tribe, race, region. God help Zambia.

  13. Where is this cartel so that I can cartel it as well. I think the cartel is planning so hard to take over but the guards are watching them closely. We warn them to behave themselves if really they want peace. We also appeal to PF to behave themselves . Time is running out for them, let us not hear that the cartel and the Lungu camp are fighting other wise we will come and flush you all from PF. Useless people you are indeed, where have you heard the Son fighting the mother, the Mother fighting the brother in law, the uncle fighting the nephew, what a disgrace in this family. You are all confused indeed.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  14. @mwewa mwewa very dull blogger-Ask itself how much money your useless PF is spending on its illiterate cadres including illiterate family forest all over Zambia & internationally. Ask how much monies mulenga sata, miles, kambwili, bob,…all presidential PF fools. Where did they get that money which has made them not to foresee their non existent support.

  15. This is true and not a Joke analysis has to be done in this situation a lot is at stake and the cartel should be defeated at all cost

  16. Kale twabeba, please tell them again. Can someone in UPND tell Zambians what HH has contributed to this great country to warranty their votes? Please don’t tell us about CVs, we all have them and some of us use them very well in our development.
Just answer this very simple question. What has been HHs contribution to Zambia’s development?

So the PF man will continue with its mandate for it is already written. People want and need this man in PF and am sure we all know him…..

    • HH has not been given an opportunity to serve by the Zambian people politically. I feel am in the dark here tell me what PF did before they were elected into power?

    • Youth tell me what did Kaunda contribute or Chiluba and yet they become presidents. Both were simple civil servants or public workers before accending to presidency.HH as politician besides his businesses and a famer is feeding Zambians in many food outlets and hotels. As a politician he managed to hold one of the largest opposition political party together after the death of Mazoka a true son of the soil.UPND is still attractive because a leader and manager is looking after it very well. This is not a simple task.As and accountant and economic manager he has served this country in various capacities. All he wants to do now is help make wise decision that will see Zambia attain the take off standard just like south korea or singarpo did.

  17. Watch the following 21 days closely. Today, the whole world has started 16 days activism against gender based violence.whom do you think people will support? Christine kaseba will go and cry before the chit, mpezeni, litunga, fragmented tonga chiefs, and about every chief in zambia. the PF has a stretegy, and weather its due to cartel or not, is a good one! Gusy scot has a PHD in Intelliegence. why is he not that concerned as if there is no election? everything is well orgainsed. what zambians and the author of this article doesnt know is who the cartel really is! Fred Mmembe is not the one who calls the shots. Statehouse has a phone that the president speaks to a person he does not know. that person is the one who runs the show. and that person is not fred! Wake up Zambians.

    • And who might that person be at the end of the line, if you don’t mind? Don’t worry you have our immunity, go on just say it!

  18. I think this is true. If you think Mr Mmembe will just sit idle and neutral and just wait for the next president in Jan 2015 to come in and ask him to pay the 14 billion, plus interest and ask him to pay tax that he owes then you must be living inimaginary ‘lala’ land. It wouldn’t be a far fetched speculation that the man might be behind all this confusion in the PF.

He wants someone he can control and who will be sympathetic to his interest. I doubt Kabimba is just happy to be sidelined or that Mutembo is ready to lose his DPP job. These guys are smarter than all of us here combined.

    • Not smarter than I am (or many other people). They are just more unscrupulous.
Fortunately, people are on to them

    • The truth about this M’membe character, is that People Power can put him out. Stop buying his papers and using his online media. End of!

People engage with him in a complex relationship, believing he is fearless in his articles therefor powerful enough to deliver ‘other news’ untethered. But if consequently, he has become the Boogie man of the Zambian political field, we need to put him out. STOP THE POST. Take your custom elsewhere. The people make him.

  19. The first thing to remember about power groups is that you the people hold the power to refuse, deny them.

It’s like having illogical thoughts when lying in your bed, last thing at night. You know you turned the gas off but you just need to go and check again. If you deny that thought, it goes away. Otherwise you pull yourself out of your warm bed and make an unnecessary journey to confirm you had turned off the gas.

Deducing facts from the post, we know that Edgar Lungu and HH are not cartel. However the writer is of the opinion that HH’s love of money (capitalist, privatisation etc), he might not be good for the people. However the writer by omission has successfully sold us Lungu, whom we all know is fighting the ‘cartel.’ We also know most of the MP’s in PF back him.

    • PF is still the party we want because they have loudly and with much bravery congregated on one side to deny the cartel’s intention to pose their candidate.

I ask that all good PF members, cadres, and those going to the convention on Friday to remember; people are watching for any illogical choice you make. A vote for Kaseba, or her marital relatives will loudly proclaim that PF members have no power and that the cartel has won.

MP’s in PF must take back authority from these groups. Much have they suffered but this being Jubilee year with all it’s Christian connotations; you suffer because the Devil never sleeps. Scott and Sata family have their feet firmly rooted to roots going all the way to Hell. Sold their souls to the Devil for money, influence. DENY THEM. God with…

    • Not if any of the Sata’s stand. People are fed up. Only Lungu can deliver. The majority has spoken. Any other candidate is a minority choice and will lose PF The vote.

PF will have to use force, violence as we saw at the HH meets. However this time the citizens of Zambia will not allow it. They will fight back. Read the mood of the people.

It is folly for Scott to think he and his gang can Beat up Citizens to force them to vote for a minority candidate. Even an attempt at manipulating the numbers will not be tolerated. PF will not win without Lungu.

  20. Majority PF Members your clarion call this Jubilee year is ‘God With Us, Emmanuel.’

This is not because Lungu is the best of all candidates, using a comparator of other opposition Leaders; best because choosing him caused a noble war, a Jihad no less, to arise within PF. God using Lungu.

Exposed is the callous disrespect from this group to democratically elected MP’s in PF. The destructive effect metered on on PF by Scott and Gang, has near destroyed the Party. No matter what the Opposition say in their attempts to garner positive media for themselves; the fight is noble. You agitate, causing an earthquake of change. Truthful Citizens can not hold these last weeks against you, because we know the Fight was against Cartel. We commend your stand. STAND FIRM.

  21. Cartel means:
    1. group of businesses controlling market: an alliance of business companies formed to control production, competition, and prices
    2. alliance of like-minded political groups: a political alliance among parties or groups having common goals

Therefore all groups are cartels and they have their political parties as top priority. Only God has the true heart for Zambia and some of this so accused cartels have companies that have employed more Zambians than some millionaires who are not the cartel by your foolish misunderstanding of the word cartel.

    • @surimatuka
Most people are applying and referencing no.2. In this context.

The fact that cartels hire millions of Zambian is not good enough that they be allowed to cause confusion in our democratic processes. That is what people are saying in a nutshell.
