ACTING President Guy Scott has warned politicians against corruption during campaigns in the run-up to the January 20, 2015 presidential election.
Dr Scott has also instructed law enforcement agencies to be vigilant with politicians who might engage in corruption.
“Politicians should desist from corrupt tendencies and help break the chain of corruption.
“The commission will remain vigilant and I know the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) is geared up to monitor these things,” he said.
Dr Scott was speaking during the commemoration of the 2014 International Anti-Corruption Day at Government Complex in Lusaka yesterday.
The International Anti-Corruption Day was commemorated under the theme: `Break the Corruption Chain’.
Dr Scott urged the ECZ to be vigilant and to monitor political activities ahead of the presidential election.
He said to win an election, one must have the ability to attract investors and tourists.
Dr Scott also said the Patriotic Front (PF) administration is on track in curbing corruption.
He said when PF came into power, President Sata showed political will to fight corruption.
Dr Scott also said President Sata declared that his rule was to be based on the Biblical 10 Commandments.
It’s your party Scott that is corrupt. Anyway,
PF was buried on 11/11/14,
Lungu has no vision of his own,
Sampa is miles away,
The only hope for Zambia is HH.
Its time to have live TV debates for the front runners to discuss their plans for Zambia
Viva Flight HH2015
Guy Scott is very much right.
It is SHOCKING where a destitute from Chawama, Edgar Lungu has got money for campaign, all of a sudden. He is not even a friend of rich GBM
Ichilema and his Tonga party for a Tonga President only has the challenge of conversion. He has to convert his Tonga dream that is only entitled to 18% of national vote. Crossing this threshold is practically a journey to Kilimanjaro. May be getting all cows, goats and mabisi give him the vote.
Scott seems to know who the next president is, at the same function he said soon, “UPND will come to know how difficult is to deal with corrupt elements in government”. It is very gratifying to see how we northerners have embraced HH going by the reception he is receiving on his current campaign trail
Kekekeke, i can’t wait to see Lungu parading all PF ministers and telling them to respond because ‘you are the ones incharge, you all know that i have no vision’. Lungu will not show up if he does he will cry.
Scared of the PF rally crowds now the cartel through the pastpaper is telling people the people seen at the rallies were from Lusaka. Honestly mr postman how many bus loads would you require to ferry that number of people? You won’t just give up it seems, you want to bring down Edgar at all costs- it’s a shame for a man of your calibre.
You do not expect EL to attend any debate because he has no vision of his own. In any case even if he attended the debate, he will come with a written speech!!! Oooooooohhhhh…what a lawyer. I will be disappointed if the people of Zambia kept PF in power on the 20th of January,2015.
“Guy Scott has warns politicians”
Chizungu or ichisungu please edit it bwana editor.
Guy Scott is the future; black people cannot run a country; give us your companies; we shall hire u; pay u peanuts and make a killing of a profit when exporting minerals
RB is lesser vice out of three leading contenders. General Miyanda is the best, but he has no money, no cadres and no sponsors. He is over-disciplinarian and plays by the rules. Can government print posters for all candidates and give equal radio and tv time to all of them. And provide them 500 hours flight time to enable them to canvas around Zambia. General Miyanda and Edith Nawakwi shall team up. If RB agrees to retire in 2016, they can join hands with him.
Yes mwana, I too wish LT could bench the reporters who can’t get their grammar straight. Put them on the graveyard shift or something.
It is worse when such errors are in the headline itself, which read by everyone who opens the page! At least, if it was in the middle of the article, we would have excused the editor, ati, maybe he is tired – can’t sustain concentration!
Lungu is losing, how is he going to pay back all that debit? It is worrying, this is going to kill him. I know Nsanda is misleading him, wait for the audit after elections. Nsanda, Chikwanda and Lungu might decide to for a parallel government. Wina azalila. Rigging won’t be possible, with all these monies circulating, vote monitoring as Scott has said will be a must. Vote wisely, HH is the trade name.
Well done Scot……no one will abuse govt resources this time around and there the playing field will be leveled. On what basis will EL win these elections….he can not speak properly, he is already using a walking stick at his tender age(Maybe it is for Muti or copying the Old African Leaders like his country mate Kamuzu Banda or Jomo Kenyata……..old fashioned for the 21st Century). There is no competition this time around.
Tell Lungu to stop getting corrupt money from Nsanda and Chinese. Nsanda is too corrupt, Luo is the one who distabilised the Ba Shilubemba.
“President Sata showed political will to fight corruption.”
FALSE: Sata is on record as having warned the ACC not to sniff his officials without his express permission. This wasn’t political will.
“Politicians should desist from corrupt tendencies…”
FACT: Scott is less than sincere here. Let him prove his sincerity by disclosing the funders of his Kabwe Conventions – two of them! This stinks of dirty coins.
FACT: The corruption fight died under PF: the Kabimba and GBM cases attest to this.
Conclusion: Only open your pink mouth when your have truth to tell.
Lungs is the next president wheather u Tonga fools like or nt.U r havn slip less nites cz u thot Sampa wil b adopted. Mwailasha mwefibatonga,i hate HH,i hate all Mujayangombes…
You must be a very uncivilized fool!!!!!
Fellow bloggers,
Just ignore such Tribal comments.
One Zambia One Nation.
wamukunda nyoko.
Debts is the only way to know a right candidate. Lungu my butts. Lets see what he has.
All what GS is saying these is to the detriment of his own party.Lungu is depending on other people to help him with money. When he loses,ni pay back the money. PF liars,Sata was fit and working, more money in our pockets, constituton in 90 days… where are we now?Massive borrowing !!! It will be a task for HH to make right the dirty left by PF. Lungu ,what is your vision? More alcoholic content, cheaper beer… I can’t see anything in this man.
Ichilemu Alabeja, i didnt know that people like Dr. Banda (UPND Vice President), Mutati, Namugala are Tongas. Anyway, thanks to Dr Chileshe Mulenga Eastern Province PS, Wilbur Simuusa and Greyford Moonde for antogonizing peasant farmers in Eastern Province. HH will lead in Eastern Province while Lungu will share with RB and Miyanda after mbeba na kiti za vota.
“Dr Scott also said President Sata declared that his rule was to be based on the Biblical 10 Commandments.”
….. But it ended up being based on 10 corrupt commandments
1. Fill govt position with family forest
2. Double president salary/freeze public workers salaries/increase fuel, maize meal prices
3. Suspend civil liberties for opposition parties(no rallies except for ruling party)
4. Fire judges that question the “cartel”
5. Induce bye-elections
6.Fire nurses for requesting salary adjustment, and then seek your family’s and self medical treatment overseas
7. Get farmers’ maize harvest, but don’t pay for it
8. Change cabinet now and then, filling it with “useless” ministers
9. Lie to illiterate electorates the new constitution to be ready in 90 days
10. Heaven on…
The nation should support the Acting President on his call against corruption. This should be the message of the church always. Church leaders can say NO to any corruption or bribe during this time of campaigns.
Ba Lusaka Times, please employ qualified editors. Ati “Guy Scott has warns politicians against corruption during campaigns”.
Even ise ma Grade 9 can see the wrong English.
You are right Dr Scott. The country should focus on creating wealth as opposed to sharing poverty, but PF is not oriented towards that discourse.
1. Comparative advantage for tourism has to be planned for through investing in the cleanliness and beautification of towns.
2. The private sector should be the driving force for development because it will create a ripple effect for value addition to products, employment creation and economic growth;
3. So, INDECO, ZIMCO ghosts should never ever be allowed to resurrect as per the rather myopic vision of your founder
4. You have one rare opportunity to support the right socio-economic and political discourse for Zambia.
How many of you bloggers on this site actually live in Zambia and are registered to go and vote. When Daniel Arap Moi came to power following the death of Jomo Kenyatta he told the people of Kenya, that he would finish the projects that had been initiated by Kenyatta and tell the people of Kenya his vision when campaigning for the next elections. I have never listened to a worse public speaker than Moi. Moi went on to win the elections because while other people were good at speaking, Moi was good at mobilising the grass roots. The majority of bloggers on this site will not even bother to go and vote. It is the people who live in Matero, Mtendere, Kaunda Square who will mostly cast their votes and the people will take EL to state house because he is one of them.
Zambians will have a lot to write home about soon. Intersting state of affairs show, we are being compelled into fair principles because of steps we have taken before as a country. Basic education is paying the dividends now. Implementors may have known or not known what trends are or were in the offing but Zambia is a different place because of a few policies.
Guy Scott may a prefer a candidate of his choice and he is entitled to it as a Zambian, however, he is condemning corruption in the open place, which is a good sign of things to come. You can easily hold him to him word and this is mature democracy. He is the second person after Chiluba to warn his own against mapalpractice showing he specs the rule of law. I wish Zambians can read the signs of the times and jump up.
If elections are going to be free and fair and no rigging, and still people vote PF again, then I am very sorry for Zambia.
Sata’s rule was based on satanic Biblical 10 Commandments of the Devil, the Prince of Persia.
