Rugby legend tips new ZRU exco

Veteran sports administrator Boniface Mutale has implored the new Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) executive committee to be inclusive as it runs the sport.

The new ZRU executive led by president Clement Sinkamba was last month ushered into office after an extraordinary meeting that followed the resignation of immediate past Union president Martin Musunka.

In interview in Kitwe, Mutale said there was need for ZRU to consult widely as they run rugby in the country.

“The new executive of the Zambia Rugby Union must learn to consult widely. We as a rugby family must work together in order to achieve a lot more,” the ZRU life member said.

“If we go into rugby leadership for personal glory rugby in Zambia will die,” the Diggers life president warned.

Mutale further advised ZRU to prioritise the development of rugby at the lower level.

“I can see that youth rugby has been neglected hence the need to do more at the grass-roots,” The Kwacha Member of Parliament said.
