Kafue District Electoral Officer Aron Kamalondo has refuted allegations that some polling staff in the area did not undergo the Electoral Commission of Zambia(ECZ) training and that they were PF cadres .
Mr. Kamalondo said all the polling staff were trained and selected on merit.
ZANIS reports that Mr Kamalondo who is also the Council Secretary was reacting to reports by an on line media publication yesterday alleging that Kafue polling agents were all PF cadres.
He further explained that the district had received 2,500 applications and selected only 500who underwent training and that due to commotion that ensued, the polling agents were made to write a test from which the required 335 were shortlisted .
Mr. Kamalondo also described the allegations that the District Commissioner Grace Ngulube and area member of Parliament Obvious Mwaliteta took some names to the council as mere fabrications.
He added that neither the DC nor the MP were seen at the Council premises during the exercise as they are both busy with other national duties.
The Electoral Officer has since called on public to get clarifications and confirm with documentation used during the exercise such as registration forms from the Council .
In addition, Mr Kamalondo affirmed that as a government worker, he is non partisan and working according to government regulations.
And both Kafue District Commissioner Grace Ngulube and area MP Obvious Mwaliteta have denied allegations of intervening in the recruiting of polling agents.
Meanwhile, Mr Kamalondo described the political atmosphere in the district as peaceful.
He noted that his office receive d only one complaint from the Patriotic Front (PF) party who complained about their posters being removed which was later resolved through dialogue with all the political parties in the district.
