A tight programme awaits President Edgar Lungu in the Namibian capital Windhoek when he arrives for the silver jubilee celebrations of that country this weekend.

President Lungu is expected to arrive at Osiya Kutaku International Airport in Windhoek on Friday afternoon to attend the silver celebrations of Namibia and the inauguration of the third democratically elected President of Namibia, Hage Geingbo, on Saturday, March 21, 2015.

Zambian High Commissioner to Namibia, Sylvia Chalikosa, confirmed the development to ZANIS in an interview this morning.

Ms. Chalikosa also said President Lungu will be accompanied by among others, Foreign Affairs Minister, Harry Kalaba.

She said President Lungu will attend a state banquet at the invitation of outgoing Namibian President, Hifikepunye Pohamba.

President Lungu is on Saturday expected to attend a luncheon hosted by new Namibian President, Hage Geingob, for all invited guests.

And Ms. Chalikosa said outgoing Namibian President, Hifikepunye Pohamba, has also invited Zambia’s first President Kenneth Kaunda, fourth President Rupiah Banda and former diplomat, Vernon Mwaanga.

The Zambian High Commissioner said the invitation of President Lungu and two former presidents by the Namibian government signifies strong ties that have existed between Zambia and Namibia since colonial times.

She recalled that Zambia assisted Namibia attain political independence adding that both Presidents Pohamba and Geingob once stayed in Zambia during Namibia’s independence struggle.

Meanwhile, Ms. Chalikosa has revealed that the Zambia government has opened a dry port at Walvis Bay which will facilitate a shorter rout to America and Europe for international trade.

Ms. Chalikosa however said her office will embark on a massive sensitisation programme for the Zambian business community to start using the Walvis Bay dry port which is more cost saving.

  1. Yes ladies and gentlemen I present to you,the man we had all been waitin for, hardworkin, ambitious and intelligent.he is indeed the obama of africa

    • For sure he is Obama A of Africa. Obama B will not attend as he will be held up in a queue trying to secure fuel for his vehicle on the material day . kekekeke. ..

    • muye muku fenta nako ku Namibia? dont come horizontal we need you to come vertical. you still have to come and fulfil your lies

    • He is just recuperating, does he need to travel can’t he deliget. Shouldn’t he be resting and attending to urgent and important issues. Seriously are there no very serious issues he should be attending to than travelling to Namibia and also the cost, he was travelling not very long ago. This man is a let down

  2. Tusheniko shikulu naimwe. Send Kalaba instead so you can rest from surgery and also attend to national issues. If you hang out with kamwendo, you may end up kamwendo njila 2

YOU WANT TO SHOW THE WORLD THAT YOU ARE AS FIT AS A FIDDLE ,TEKENI BOLA PANSHI IMWE . RB IS YOUR PRESIDENT LUNGU ,U MADE A GRAVE MISTAKE TO BRING HIM ON BOARD .

    NOKO NKAYA NKAYA NALYO ISHAMO

RB NI LUNSHI PAMAFI ,LUNSHI PAMAFI TAFUMAPO SO RB IS A PAIN IN THE ASS .PF AT MULUNGUSHI AUTHORITY YOU WERE VOTING FOR NYAMA SOYA

  4. The president is pushing his luck too far. He is being misled by those around that he is fully recovered and fit and I think this is where his wife should intervene and stop him from flying. Flying can severely trigger off problems. Why can’t he delegate or is he trying prove a point?

  5. Chile 1 Lungu is not Obama and he will never be.There is only one Obama just as we have been saying Lungu is not Sata and thus he has cheated masses that he will follow Sata legacy as he has no vision of his own. The reason Zambia is bankrupt is this kind of aimless movements. An orderly person will not know how much it costs for the president to move outside the country.. Invited surely it’s like they say aid is given to third world when it’s not the case but the opposite.(loan). Security, logistics, they cost millions of dollars. This why Sata used to refuse certain travels and will send a junior person coz it was less expensive. 17 months to rule he needs allowances and being advised RB the known global trotter . Anything Lungu is off.thank you God it’s 17 months and not 5yrs
