PRIVATE Sector Development Association (PSDA) Chairperson Yusuf Dodia has backed President Edgar Lungu’s recent trips saying they were beneficial as the Head of State was marketing the country on the Global World.

Ms Dodia said yesterday that the President was right to travel for essential engagement with other Heads of State.

He explained that the President was not visiting for the sake of holiday but to put Zambia on an international community.

“The President is currently marketing the country on an international market. The President is not visiting those countries for the sake of the holiday but to put Zambia on the market,” he said.

He said there was need for the politicians to look the Presidential trip on a broader picture.

Mr Dodia said it was unfortunate that some politicians were criticizing President Lungu’s trips since assuming office as the Head of State.

He said the President had the right to meet other Heads of State in other countries as part of marketing Zambia on global world.

Mr Dodia has also appealed to the Government to motivate the investors in order to attract more investment opportunities.

He said investors who were establishing the businesses in the country were looking at the cost of doing business, fuel and electricity which were important to most of the businesses.

  1. State visits are necessary. That can not be questioned. What the certain compatriots are worried about is overdoing foreign travel by the Presidents. In everything there is minimum and maximum. There is need to engage each other as fellow compatriots in order to strike a balance. In my view, sending the Vice Presidents can also equally sometimes achieve key objectives.

    • You make it sound like the president hasn’t sent the vice president. My record show that she has been out more than once and that’s just in 58 days.

  2. …..LPM visited China twice or so…RB went there…..MCS travelled there as well all in the name of selling Zambia and to woo investors…..hardly Three months in office, why the rush and what new thing will EL bring to the Table which his predecessors did not….??….Kwacha is doing very bad against other major currencies…..one of the reasons/factors is that there is shortage of ‘forex’…..the president’s trip with such a large entourage worsens the situation because the little ‘forex’ is also syphoned by this trip….there is no hustle president visiting other countries but must be well timed…with quantified anticipated results…..in other words this trip was ill timed ….when our Kwacha is trading the lowest…..

  3. Mulekeni ateke jelousy ba UPND. Your time will come to rule from Chisekesi. ECL has to provide the required environment for capita inflows we so much need.

    • Amajelousy for what? The over 5550% of Zambians who did not vote for Lungu are demanding accountability.
What economic policies has Lungu introduced that can inspire foreign investors confidence.Stop showing us your excreta. We are tired of ‘ifintu ni lungu’ type of politics.WE DEMAND SERVICE DELIVERY BACKED BY SOUND ECONOMIC BASE.

  5. The Preisident should continue travelling.Only those wanting the president to fail are the ones saying all sorts of rubbish about his trips…

  6. ?@Ichintucintumwene, another wrong approach to your argument, why mention Chisekesi. It just shows how shallow you are and always bent on inflicting pain on UPND. Some of you people will never grow and what this means is that you will never see Zambia develop into a country that will be liked by all Zambians. Most of you people are used to living in poverty, for you see nothing wrong with what the person is doing because poverty for you is your comfort zone. One wonders if some of you have ever been out of Zambia to get exposed. Zambia is not anything to talk about in terms of development, even Zimbabwe bits us by far, it is all because of you illiterante chaps who just zingulila Zambia and no where else. Open up your minds and allow divergent views expand your horizon of how far you can c

  7. ZAMBIANS, when shall you learn to express your views from a neutral, non-aligned point subjected to no emotions? Style up!

  8. @Rasco

Zambian are only poor as a nation not as individuals. You just failed to make end meet here and decided to be an economic refugee wherever you. Its only in Zambia where yu can aquire a big plot and build your dream house without getting a lifetime mortgage. Here you can save and order a car of you choice not where you are boasting off. our way of life should not be mistaken for poverty. I live in a developed continent where the indigenous are the poorest in the world.

  9. All we are saying is to this point Lungu appears to be a president in absentia. The main reason for these trips is not to market the country. Thay are too frequent and evenly spaced. Off course that is an easy excuse to use. If indeed marketing was the prime motive then we are sending the wrong ambassador. One day Lungu is in a country to market zambia and in the same week or month he is in that country seeking medical attention with equally damaging publicity. What investor would want to their money looking at Zambias recent history with presidential tenure? Ati marketing the country?! Lol okay.

  10. What is Yusuf Dodia talking about. In the auditorium where they were meeting, there were pictures of Mwanawasa and Sata which showed that they had already been there, and already done that…So whatelse is new
