Chabinga hails resilient Mufulira Wanderers

Head coach Manfred Chabinga has hailed the fighting spirit Mufulira Wanderers showed in Sunday’s 2-1 FAZ Super League win over National Assembly at Shinde Stadium.

Wanderers fought back from a goal down to down Assembly with the winning goal coming ten minutes away from full time.

The win pushed the legendary Mufulira club to second pace on the table with six points from three games, just a point behind leaders Choma Eagles.

In a post-match interview, Chabinga said the nine-time league champions deserved to beat Assembly.

“They (Assembly) scored an early goal but I told the boys not to panic, we regrouped, equalised and scored a second goal,” he said.

“We deserved to win. National Assembly fine it is a good side physically but technically it is not a good side, they struggled a lot,” he said.

Promoted Mighty begun the season with a loss to Konkola Blades before rebounding with a 1-0 win over Nkwazi in Lusaka.

“You see it is all about hard working, we worked for the three points in Lusaka against Nkwazi and here against National Assembly.”
