THE Lusaka Magistrate court has committed a United Party for National Development (UPND) cadre Trevor Mwiinde who was arrested during the January 20, 2015 Presidential election campaigns in Chilenje Township to the High Court to undergo trial.

Mwiinde is charged with aggravated robbery. Mwiinde was part of the unruly crowd that attacked people at Chris Corner in Chilenje while UPND party president Hakainde Hichilema held a political rally at Lusaka’s Woodlands stadium.

When the matter came up for mention before Lusaka magistrate Humphrey Chitalu today, Mwiinde who is represented by Martha Mushipe from Mushipe and Associates was informed by the court that the director of public prosecutions (DPP) has issued instructions for his committal to the High Court.

Mr Chitalu said just as he had explained to Mwiinde when he first appeared in court, the offence he is charged with is triable by the High Court.

He said that since the DPP’s chambers has issued the instructions; Mwiinde would stop appearing before his court but High Court.

Ms Mushipe requested for the matter to be dealt with expedience on grounds that Mwiinde was admitted to hospital as such, any further prolonged stay in detention would make him to be prone to other diseases.

The State informed the court that the matter would be dealt with the expedience it deserves adding that there was a likelihood of Mwiinde being cause listed in the next session of the high court. Recently, Mwiinde’s pictures went viral when he was pictured chained to a hospital bed at UTH where he was undergoing treatment following an illness.

  1. This maggot deserves extreme suffering and I would love to start with removing his balls and then prick out one of his eyeballs so that he has a very slow and painful dearth. Not forgetting crushing half of his head using a hammer and putting his part of his body in an oven.

    • The person you are calling a maggot is created in the image of God.If he is a maggot then you are insinuating that His creator is a maggot. That is blasphemy.May the lord repay you for your arrogance.

  2. This chap and his gang almost killed us that fateful day; they had axes and panga’s. we had to lock ourselves in some room while they smashed cars and shops around cris corner. Let him die in jail…

  3. Zambia currently has no director of public prosecution so this story lacks updates ,yes their is the dpp chambers.so who issued the instructions?the pf intra party wrangles a life was lost, how far has that case gone and who is in jail .whats the difference between the two cases?i dont think the charge should be aggravited robbery but disturbance of peace likely to cause violence.
