Lusaka Squash Club member who died during last weekends tournament to be buried

The late Lusaka Squash Club member Vasantha Ratnayake, who died during last weekend’s President’s squash trophy tournament at Lusaka Club, will be buried in Sri Lanka.

Zambia Squash Association (ZSA) General Secretary Chisala Mulenga has disclosed the development to ZANIS Sports in Lusaka today.

Mulenga said the body of the late Ratnayake will be flown to Sri Lanka for burial shortly after a memorial service which will be held today at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Lusaka.

Ratnayake, who was also Finance Manager of Voyagers, died of cardiac failure a few minutes after finishing his game during last weekend’s President’s squash trophy tournament held at Lusaka club.

And Mulenga said the Zambia Squash Association was deeply saddened by the untimely death of Ratnayake. Mulenga described the late Ratnayake as a great man who contributed immensely to the development of squash in the country.

He has since wished the Ratnayake family God’s comfort and strength during the trying moment.

    Ratnayanke was a great man just because he played squash? What’s great about it? Just say; sorry for his untimely passing and loss to his family as a bread winner , kwasila.
