President Edgar Lungu has observed that bad governance has contributed to the flooding of refugees from Burundi to Zambia and has since urged Zambians to remain peaceful and support each other.
Speaking to journalists at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport upon arrival from South Africa last evening, President Lungu said it is unfortunate what is happening in Burundi and that he wishes the situation can change so that the people return home because there is no place like home.
“You can see I am back home and l am much better, there is no place like home,” he said.
He urged Zambians to learn from the situation in Burundi and ensure that Zambia does not experience the same.He said he was there to offer the leadership that Zambia required and urged Zambians to support him.
“That is what happens when there is bad governance. We have only one country so when you fight, it will be us running and there is no other country to run to,” he said.
He prayed that the situation in Burundi would change for the better and pledged Zambia’ a commitment to assist that country.”We pray for the situation in that country and we will do everything possible to help them,” he said.
Hundreds of Burundi nationals are flooding Zambia running away from the political situation in their country.
Ba Lungu we welcome your newly found outspokenness on other African leaders something that doesnt frequently happen in Africa. Mwanawasa and the current Botswana President are the only ones who have been open about other African leaders.
However, dont be an expert in selective analysis. Why havent you said the same thing about the bad governance in Zimbabwe which country has given us similar numbers of refugees since 2001?
Well said Mr President you are a true statesman
Sending pilato to jail and borrowing aimlessly is good governance
Lungu, you are aware of the dangerous comments Davies Chama makes against other tribes and you have kept quiet.
How do you think the genocides in Rwanda started? It was all driven by hate towards other tribes. The same thing is happening in Zambia under YOUR watch by YOUR PF and you sit IDLE while condemning other countries. Discipline your PF members regardless of rank.
A sign of a weak leader indeed!!!
How about Zambia’s tribalism you are not talking about which you are practicing? This is the biggest recipe for civil war.
Why does this lazy bum speak on the airport tarmac and not hold a press conference? Look at your colleague in Nigeria weeks in power and he has already hosted a press conference…how dare you talk about good governance?
Because there’s not press conference in the PF manual… or whatever you call it. That’s why Michael Sata never held a press conference for the three years he was in State House. Afraid to be asked questions!!!!
This is not Nigeria but you Tonga fool
First look at your governance, The great lakes region conflicate started like those big mouthed people around you. warn Davies Chama about this. And final tell Mumbi Phiri to work for the betterment of the country Zed NOT for pf. (part)
You go for medical treatment abroad is that not a shame that Zambia do not have good health institution.
Imwe’ Alungu, be careful ka!!
With all this unsustainable borrowing happening under your watch, to acquire useless items like furniture & cars for Cadres / P.F, officials, it will be indeed Zambian’s flooding other countries in 5- 10 years when the failure to service / repay that “Kaloba” begins to finally bite.
Don’t forget if this can happen to Greece, Zambia is NOT immune to reckless borrowing & spending. Ask Zimbabweans, who at one time believed they were a cut above Zambian’s. Manje’ as we debate Munzi wapya Ku Zim!!
There goes Lungu throwing stones again, from the comfort of his glass house.
Take the tree out of your own eye before you start looking for splinters in the eyes of others!
PF Circus. Ba Chipantepante. Ati “I am feeling much better”. This is an admission that HE is not fit. Lungu has been on sick leave twice within a short period of time ( 5 months on the helm). And we docile Zambians will vote for PamaFii next week. What a country. We are to BLAME! Period
Now that you have arrived in Lusaka can we have digital television? It was waiting for your finger
ka Lungu talking about bad governance is like a sow laughing at a boar’s fat behind.
Anyway ka Lungu has enough minions on his staff who should be able to educate him about the history of ethnic conflicts in that part of Africa. The refugee crisis from Burundi has little to do with bad governance. It goes much deeper than that.
Ha!!! So Edgar knows something about good vs bad governance!!!!
What about Zimbabwe where you get your advice from?
