President Edgar Lungu is in Malawi to grace that country’s 51st Independence Anniversary Celebrations.

The Celebrations will be held tomorrow in Malawi’s commercial Capital Blantyre.

ZNBC’s Arnold Tutu reports from Blantyre, Malawi that Zambia’s High Commissioner to Malawi Salome Mwananshiku says President Lungu and the First Lady Esther will be conferred with the Free Person of the City Status by the Blantyre City Assembly on arrival.

Mrs. Mwananshiku says President Lungu is expected to attend the State Banquet after the Independence Celebrations.

And on Tuesday, President Lungu and his Malawian counterpart Professor Peter Mutharika will sign the Malawi/Zambia Trans Frontier Conservation Areas (TFCA) Treaty at Sanjika Palace.

Zambia and Malawi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2004 to commence formal negotiations for the establishment of Malawi/Zambia TFCA.

The two countries have been working together in the joint management of protected areas along the common border within the TFCA.

The project is aimed at protecting wildlife in the National Parks and Game reserves and promoting biodiversity in the border districts.

Through the TFCA Zambia and Malawi will work together to manage the Nyika and Kasungu National Parks and the Vwaza Marsh wildlife reserve. On the Zambian side, the TFCA includes areas such as: Nyika, Likusuzi and North Luangwa National Parks, Musalangu Game Management Area, Lundazi, Mitenge and Makutu National Forest Reserve.

  1. Which president in the neighbourhood has visited president E C Lungu? RB too, was all over and lost elections because Zambians believed he was not fit for the purpose.

  2. Please edit the first sentence in this story as follows:

President Edgar Lungu is in Malawi to drink some more jamasoni.

  3. I’m not surprised. He has made Rupiah Banda his friend. What was Rupiah known for? Travelling on unneccessary trips week in week out. He was taking his family with him to do deals that the Zambian people never commissioned. This fella also wants to finish all our money Marco poloing

  4. PURE RUPIAH WAY OF BLINDING ZAMBIANS AS IF MAKING PERDIUM OUT OF EVERY TRIP YET UNDERHAND METHODS ARE AT PLAY. BA EDIGAR PRESIDENTIAL TRIPS ARE COSTLY. FOR ONCE THINK OF WAYS T CUT ON USELESS AVENUES BY INVOLVING MINISTERS. THE MINISTER OF ‘FOREST’ COULD HAVE DONE THE SIGNINGS U R PURPORTING U WL B DOING. ALA BATATA BA SATA BATUSHA NAKAMUNTU AKALEUMFWA UBUNANG’ANI UKWENSHA ICHALO !

  5. Nitavionelaanji manje!? What is the way forward for your country’s economic development mr. president? The rate of the kwacha is continuously nose-diving, the country is in persistent power (ZESCO) blackout. Mr. president put the plight of your children first please twapapata. Don’t you think the millions being spent on these trips could be better utilized to salvage the economy in some way? Can we honestly continue globetrotting on borrowed money ignoring the problems at home, while just wishing that somehow our economy will one day be revamped miraculously? Good Lord what is going on?

    • The Rating Agencies are just about to downgrade us again…The vision-less lazy bum has absolutely no shame whatsoever, he just returned from celebrating Mozambique’s independence on the 25th June, then welcomed the President of Kenya..they drunk the night away at State House, now he is flying to Lilongwe to he their Heads of State articulate their visions for the countries when he doesn’t have one.

      Watch out our work-shy Edgar making an appearance at these coming independence days;

      1. South Africa 11th December
      2. Swaziland 6th September
      3. Uganda 9th October
      4. Kenya 12th December
      5. Lesotho 4th October
      6.Botswana 30th September
      7.Angola 11th November

  6. This useless and disgraceful no good for nothing person should have died soon after collapsing with achalasia. Any Zambians you love mediocrity, so you deserve what you voted for. The Chap is always in the air, leaving his ministers to loot as they please.

  7. Sata was not Like this vision less leader and his aim was to make zambia better. Lungu Was in mozambique two days ago and today he goes to malawi. What a loss. Of resources

    • What are you talking about Alex? Have your conscience clear when you make comments: Mr. Sata was always out of thecountry on medical trips – he never even told the country where he was going.

  8. Lungu is your president even if he drinks Jameson. Would you stop drinking water or Jameson just because you are president? Guys blogging about beer drinking is illogical.

  9. All the useless bloggers are busy concentrating on insulting the president. Nobody is talking or contributing to why the pacts the president is going to sign are important and how they can be made more effective. There have been cases in the past where it has been reported that Malawians are encroaching on Zambian land – these are issues to talk about, not insulting Edgar. Also, note that ECL combines these celebrations with business trips and therefore saving the country a separate and costly state visit.

    • INDEED YOU ARE USELESS AND YOU HAVE A BRAIN THE SIZE OF A MILLET GRAIN. HOW CAN A PERSON WITH A NORMAL SIZE BRAIN THINK LIKE YOU? LET ME EDUCATE YOU THAT YOUR LUNGU WILL NOT REMAIN IN POWER FOR EVER WITH ALL THESE SHORT-COMINGS IN THE COUNTRY. WHEN YOUR MAN WILL BE SOON OUT OF POWER, THE PROBLEMS HE IS CREATING YOU WILL ALSO AFFECT YOU. SO DO NOT BE BLINDED BY WHAT YOU ARE GETTING NOW. OTHERS HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE YOU. WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
A WISE PERSON LOOKS AT THE BIGGER PICTURE, NOT AT PERSON GAINS.

    • Ba Manu Mambulwa – I will not stoop to your level where it is more prudent to insult than engage in constructive debate. Where did I say Edgar will be there forever? Continue polishing your insults while “stupid” Zambians re-elect ECL with a resounding margin in 2016 as your “reknowned intellectual” kisses the dust yet again.

  10. Alungu in 5 months he has been.angola, south africa, china, zimzim, mozambique, malawi ,kenya, tanzania, drc.what kind of presido.anyway thats the reward when kaponyas determine the destine of our country.lets enjoy the journey of complaints while he enriches himself.

  11. Vasco Da Lungu is once again aboard his rickety vessel named M.V Kachasu to explore the poor neighborhood.

  12. This lazy bone Lungu will use any excuse whatsoever to not do any work in his office as he knows the solution to problems is borrowing regardless of interest rates..I hoped he would learn anything from President Kenyatta..but no no…you can take donkey to a pond but you can’t force it to drink!!

  13. This ceremonial president has continued attending every event on this planet. Lungu can not justify his endless trips abroad. Why should Zambia obtain loans from the international banks when Lungu is being so wasteful with our limited resources? Lungu should learn from countries like Botswana that are prudent in the use of resources.

  14. ZAMBIANS ARE THEMSELVES TO BLAME. THEY HAVE EYES BUT DO NOT SEE. THEY HAVE EARS BUT DO NOT HEAR. THEY HAVE BRAINS BUT DO NOT THINK. THEY DO NOT EFFECTIVELY AND WISELY USE THEIR SENSES. THEY VOTE WITH THEIR HEARTS INSTEAD OF WITH THEIR HEADS. THEY ARE REAPING WHAT THEY SOWED. ZAMBIANS INVESTED AND CONTINUE TO INVEST IN WHISKY, THEY SHOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF THEY FIND THEMSELVES DRUNK. IF THEY HAD INVESTED IN COWS, TODAY THEY WOULD BE DRINKING MILK. YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW.

    • “If Zambians had invested in cows, today they would be drinking milk” so observes Mano Mambulwa and I totally concur for the founding father of the Zambian nation KK had such a vision with Dairyboard and an egg a day for every Zambian. Zambians chose beer at the expense of developing these nutritional industries which are still underdeveloped to date among indigenous people! Now the country is reaping the backlash of folly. I marvel with cynicism at those who believe God will come to our rescue when the human body God created was adorned with same organs and intelligence to manage and live off what was provided in the immediate environment. However it is pitiful that in some cases Gods’ aspirations were and are still not being met. Tizauka liti?

    • It’s those same patapata wearing voters that determine who rules the country at the end of the day.

They are the ones that believe Lungu’s lies

  15. What happened to the president of Ghana who waz supposed to visit zambia in April this year? By the way the bag of charcoal is now K170 in Lusaka because of the zesco loadsheding…

  16. It’s beginning to seem to me that there’s a little naughty ghost at state house and it scares ka Lungu at night. That explains why he hardly ever sleeps there. Always on the move this ka president of ours.

  17. I think Wynter Kabimba would have been an idea replacement for Comrade Sata. He looks more focused and disciplined despite his perceived arrogance. Foreign Presidential trips in an ailing economy like ours do not make sense and Guy Scot is right in his observations. Sata hasn’t even clocked a year and it seems all his ideals are buried. A re-think of how I will vote next year is critically needed.

    • That is so warped – I feel so sad for people that think Winter Kabimba is worth a discussion. It was only last week when Gen. Chinkuli was laughing at your man!!

  18. For once let edy work in peace, how can all of you people be so ignorant? The man is busy trying to resurrect this dead economy and all you do is talk rubbish. Edgar is not sata and he will never be.Scot is a finished colonialist whose comments are useless in this time of age, and all listening to him are foolish Africans with minds as those that sold their sons to slavery.

Let him that has no sin in him be the first to cast the stone.
If you don’t drink its your problem otherwise ZB employs more people in Zambia and am proud of it.

  19. The traveling president who simply loves to travel more than focusing on building his economy and fixing the country’s problems such as, education, health care and creating jobs. How about doing something about the Kwacha? Do all presidents travel as much as he does?

  20. where are the university and other college students, enough is enough, a walk to the state house might send a message, this a new role for a president, it is painful to watch. unfortunately the masses that vote are too sleepy to even see the obvious – LUNGU MUST GO.

  21. The guy is Traveller. Did we vote for him to Travel the whole world unnecessary or to develop the country?

  22. Jameson Lungu is global trotter just as his corrupt friend. Birds with same feathers . Pilato foresaw this and warned but as they say you can take a villager to town and you will not change the villager . Leopard will not change its colour period

    • brain dead people like you are the ones worsening the plight of the people of our once beautiful country. You need to die.

  23. The most useless president Zambia has ever had. Always visiting other country’s unjustifiably……what’s wrong with his drunken brain? The ka chap should have died when he collapsed. I will be praying for the people of Zambia.

  24. kamwendo munjila hahahahahahahahah..twalemyeba..kwacha is now 7.8..uko…loadshedding nayo ili nuuu.
