Cabinet to announce major steps to deal with power deficit in the country

Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda says government will this Wednesday announce the major steps it will take to mitigate the current problem of power supply being experienced in the country.

Mr. Chanda says Information and Broadcasting Services who is also Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili will make an announcement after the special Cabinet meeting on Wednesday over the steps that government will take to ensure that there is energy security in the country.

He told Journalists at State House today after the cabinet meeting that key on the agenda in today’s meeting was how government will ensure that it addresses the power supply deficit or hydro power problem in the country.

Mr. Chanda said deliberations of today’s cabinet meeting will continue on Wednesday after which the Minister of Information will inform the nation on the way forward over the issue.

  1. Apart from reducing taxes on alternative sources of power, there is little that can be done to mitigate the current shortfall. We need to see a significant reduction in the cost of Generators, Solar Panels, Gas Stoves and all other alternative sources of energy. We have been sleeping for far too long!

Please when you have your cabinet meeting make sure that serious measures are put in place to reduce this crisis of power deficit which the country has been faced with.Don’t just drink in the meeting as usual at the expense of resolving load shedding otherwise our economy has been badly hit and by the end of the year it will be the worst economy the whole world
