Former Kasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba says he will appeal against the High Court ruling in the Supreme Court on its decision to declare his parliamentary seat vacant.
Mr. Mwamba said in an interview that the decision by the High Court to uphold the Speaker’s nullification of his seat is unfair.
‘The ruling is quite unfair. I feel I should not let it be, what I have done is that I have asked my lawyers to appeal to a higher court which is the Supreme Court. When you appeal it means you are not happy with the ruling of the lower court, it does not mean you are scared of a by election.
Mr. Mwamba reiterated that he is not scared to re-contest the Kasama seat under the UPND.
‘I am not scared, I will tell you something, there are two scenarios here, I have never been scared of a by election, remember in 2009, I defeated the MMD when it was at its best. Mind you Kasama, that is where I hail from, so why should I have doubts that people will vote for me,’ he said.
Mr. Mwamba had rushed to the High Court after the Speaker of the National Assembly nullified his seat after he was appointed UPND Vice President for administration.

I would rather channel the millions that will be lost in this bye election to uplift your well being. This will also help a dozen of people who may be arrested on arranged violence and compromised police. Strictly speaking, this by election is a waste of resources unless it is a scheme to test the rigging formula.

This man, if he’s really not scared of losing the Kasama seat, then why even pursue an appeal to the supreme court? It’s common sense that GBM is scared of losing the seat and this will have a huge negative impact on UPND in the northern regions of Zambia. Mweetwa apologises for misleading UPND members on the National day of prayer
Choma Central Member of Parliament Cornelius Mweetwa has apologised to the UPND members and the nation at large for misleading them on the day of National Prayer.
According to a news report monitored on Radio Phoenix in Lusaka, Mr Mweetwa reiterated that UPND will not take part in the prayers as earlier stated by its leader Mr Hakainde Hichilema.
On Saturday, Choma Member of Parliament Cornelius Mweetwa speaking to ZNBC on behalf of Hakainde Hichilema urged UPND members to turn up in numbers for the prayers and fasting event set for October 18, 2015.
