The Electoral Commission of Zambia has announced that ballot papers for the August 2016 general elections will be printed in Zambia.

Zambia has over the years procured ballot papers and other election materials from South Africa, UK and as far as Israel.
But ECZ Spokesman Chris Akufuna revealed that the Commission is ready to have the ballot papers printed by a local printing firm.

Mr Akufuna said in an interview that the Commission has since been running a tender for the printing of ballot papers which he said closes on January 22nd 2016.

“We have put out a tender for printing ballot papers for the 2016 elections and this tender is only open for local printing companies both private and the Government Printers and as long as they meet the specifications, they will be awarded the tender,” he said.

Mr Akufuna said the Commission does not have problem with a local printer winning the tender as long as the firm meets the specifications.

    • This place looks dirty wounder how they manage elections for our country. Dirty Looking as the same so called Akufuna.

    • HH is the man to restore Zambia period. He has the capacity to turn the economy around and make the kwacha appreciate so that workers ‘ pay s is implicitly increased by the increase in kwacha’ s purchasing power.

Under PF workers have seen their wages cut in real terms because of the kwacha’s weakening buying power. Workers have also seen their jobs lost and constantly live in fear.

Imagine a kwacha that buys a £1 for K5 and $1for K3, a Zambia where every one is absolutely free to express their feelings against their leaders, free to assemble , free to mobilise thier political followers.

Imagine a Zambia where POA is not abused and applied to silence Political opponents ,a Zambia where there is true justice free of corruption ,a Zambia where education is well funded , a…

Well you now have a real opportunity to stop imagining and turn that imagination into reality by voting UPND and HH for president in 2016 elections.

Vote UPND and kick out Pathetic failures(PF)

  1. owe, olo lwanya nombe, some people may not actually vote this year becuase nothing in zambia reaches its logical conclusion……….if u think am telling lies check local contracts in roads, housing etc.

  2. This is indeed good news. Let us be optimistic, I do not believe that after 50 years of independence people can still take pride in printing election ballot papers from outside the country. There may be teething problems but that should be expected for every “first” as all countries that do it on their own had to go through that. It is the only way you can grow. We have to start someone and this is the right time. Thumbs up to ECZ.

You are just another bitter employ of HH and UPND bwana. You talk as though the whole intellectuals in Zambia today don’t have brains except your master HH, how cheap you can be!
Listen man, stop giving yourselves false hopes about HH doing this and that, cause the more you do it the more you get too exposed.
Who doesn’t know that President Lungu has only been in office for a mere 11 months but has perfomed extremely well in the prevailing global economic meltdown?
Do you realise that even Obama, the most intelligent Presidents America has ever produced, his efforts to mend America was just appreciated his 7th year of office yet you want President Lungu to perform miracles in 11 months?
We the people are not dull and will know why your HH wants power so much but…

Will not give away our power to tribalism and bitter people NEVER! Today, a true and real Zambian is proud to live in Zambia because of the developmental work and effort of PF and it’s leadership and all this in JUST 4 YEARS! A warning to you who want to sell our country to imperialists, get it you will not succeed as we know your agenda and we will.tell.it to our people as it is.
We know your strategy but have slightest clue on ours, let the game begins.
EDGAR LUNGU WILL PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA FOR THE NEXT TEN YEARS SO START PREPARING YOUR MINDS NOW!

  6. I’m not a politician and takes no part in party politics. But if I were to predict the out of the 11th August elections, I would pick the ruling party to win… Reasons are several but for now here are a few; 1. African (Zambian) democracy will take 30-40years to mature- so internet politicking unlike in western democracies wins no party a vote in Zambia, 2.voting in African(Zambian) politics is regional with a mixture of ethnic inclination towards a given leader of a party. In Zambia, this is manifested through (‘ traditional cousin-ship’). 3. In Zambia as is the case in the USA, the majority of the presidents have tended to come(born) from the north-eastern and central parts. Apart from a few out- layers, the USA has tended not to have presidents from the western+southern parts. I’m…
