MINISTRY of Home Affairs spokesperson Moses Suwali says the Registrar of Societies has instituted investigations to establish the legitimate owner of the Democratic Front (DF).
Mr Suwali said in an interview yesterday that the Registrar of Societies has invited Matero Member of Parliament (MP) Miles Sampa and Lusaka-based lawyer David Chanda, who are both claiming ownership of the DF, to help with the ongoing investigations.
This follows complaints by Mr Chanda, who claims to be the founder of DF, which Mr Sampa launched in Kitwe last weekend.
“The Registrar of Societies has started investigating the case and we will be able to establish who owns the Democratic Front party. Officers are already on the ground investigating the matter,” Mr Suwali said.
Mr Suwali also said Minister of Home Affairs Davies Mwila will issue a comprehensive statement regarding the status and ownership of the DF.
On Monday, Mr Sampa’s special assistant Ngolwe Sakala said Mr Chanda was politicking because he resigned his position on December 19, 2014 and that he ceased to be a DF member.
“He is just playing politics, for us this is not an issue because we have all the documents from the Registrar of Societies with stamps that are authentic,” she said.
An extract of minutes said to be of an executive meeting held to transfer power to Mr Sampa posted online reads: “This meeting is held to discuss the change of name of Genuine People’s Platform and some office-bearers because of the new face the party will have.”
According to the said minutes, the meeting resolved that Mr Sampa is replacing the president while the secretary general was replaced by Bridget Atanga and Lusaka lawyer Anthony Kasolo replaces the vice-secretary.
But Mr Chanda in an interview said at no time did he relinquish his position as DF interim president and replaced by Mr Sampa.
We are in the 21st century ba registrar of society for goodness sake, you can’t tell me that you don’t have a computer database for all this. This whole thing is just far fetched.
They have computers but they don’t know how to use them. Even just switching it on is a problem to most of these civil servants. what a shame.
So was the Registrar SLEEPING in the first instance for him not to have checked his records before issuing the second DF??? Or was he also just as DRUNK as his boss???

PF will rise the accassion and create confusion in order to ban any DF political activities until after the elections giving reasons that the matter is still in court. And this might be the sinking of Sampa s political carreer.
I gave Sampa ZNPF to run with but he declined. Waona manje. May its too late some one has taken ZNPF already to block you again.

Whats there to investigate when proof is right in front of you? You have the certificate of registration in your hands and you want to investigate!!! Chanda is the rightful owner. Did Patriotic Front cease being a registered party when Sata died? I like Miles but I also dont support such nonsense.

Miles Sampa should be charged for belonging to two parties. He pretended to be an MP for the PF whilst he was secretely a leader for another political party the DF and these are the kind of useless chaps some people want to put into leadership. Shame.
Hon. Sampa, if it is true that you registered your party in July, 2014 then :
1. you have been holding on to the Matero seat illegally;
2. your claims of exclussion and victimisation under the leadership of President Edgar C. Lungu are not true because then PF was still under the leadership of President Michael C. Sata (MHSRP);
3. you betrayed ba ‘Yama’

If this man registered this party in December 2014, then as soon as he lost the Kabwe Mulungushi convention he and his supporters always intended to breakaway from the PF. The story says Miles joined an existing party that was founded by Chanda. The new members have usurped the leadership of the party. Miles didn’t register a new party. So RS is investigating the genuineness of the minutes to establish the real leadership of the party.

Bridget Atanga and her incomptent husband recently joined UPND, how they quickly jumped off and jumped on the controversial DF, is anyones’ guess. These are just a gang of power hungry hyenas and thank God Sampa didn’t take over PF as he is totally blind and deaf to the mood of the Zambians right now!
Miles is miles away from being a president.I envy his intelligence but he lucks political acumen.He is in the other side of hemisphere and needs to pull up his socks.Ruling parties, all of the world, use tricks to feather their nest.If Sampa is not careful,he will drown in an abyss of oblivion politically.Russian,president Vladimir Putin,has used the same tricks to broaden his stay in power.Sampa will be tossed like a ball before he is dead and burried.He has rushed to higher heights without knowing the tricks of defeating the ruling party.Otherwise,he is an up coming leader who needs to tow the line of politics with prudence.
