HUNDREDS of Patriotic Front (PF) members yesterday turned up for a meeting in Matero Constituency in Lusaka to show continued solidarity with the ruling party in the wake of the resignation of their member of Parliament (MP) Miles Sampa.
PF secretary general Davies Chama said the support the party still enjoys in Matero is overwhelming.
Mr Chama also said he has now proved that the people of Matero knew what they were saying when they demanded the resignation of their MP Mr Miles Sampa from the ruling party.
Mr Sampa has resigned from the PF and now heads a hitherto virtually unknown Democratic Front party.
“I didn’t know what Mr Sampa was playing at because he held a press conference where he pledged support for President Lungu and also said only death would separate him from PF. But you people knew what he was doing and that is why you demanded his resignation,” Mr Chama said.
Mr Chama was speaking at a rally in Matero township, where he addressed hundreds of residents.
In attendance was PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri, Kabwata MP Given Lubinda and other senior party officials.
Mr Chama also said since the PF government came into power, it has endeavoured to improve the living standards of people through various empowerment programmes it has instituted.
“In the four years PF has been in power, the country has seen massive infrastructure development. Right here in Matero, there is a dual carriageway, clinics and many other developmental projects,” Mr Chama said as the crowd cheered in agreement.
He said now that Government has built schools and hospitals among others, President Lungu will embark on a rigorous job creation programme which will endeavour to end poverty and improve the living standards of the people.
Mr Chama also said Zambians must vote into office someone they know worships the true God.
“There is a King in the Bible that chose to build a temple for the Lord and President Lungu has done the same by commissioning the construction of the Tabernacle of Prayer. Mr Lungu led the nation in prayer for recovery of the economy and rains, and as it is, the rains are here,” Mr Chama said.
Ms Phiri said she is humbled to see the leadership of the party in Matero still intact because it had been suggested that they had all left with Mr Sampa.
She appealed to the party to remain united and urged those vying for leadership to wait for God’s time.
So according to Chama, Lungus prayers are what has caused it to rain?????

“Hundreds” is a small number. It should have been thousands- Matero constituency is one of the biggest in Lusaka comprising Lilanda township, George compound, Chungu, Zingalume, Barlastone Park, Matero and Emasdale. Even PF knows that number is small.
I respect the ambitiousness of Sampa. Unfortunately in a wrong way the young man has ruined his own political future making it irredeemably damaged. Its unfortunate that his delusions are that our nationalistic people would subscribe to his unbridled scheme of flying on tribalism unfortunately too alien to the Bemba community. Its like he has not learnt how others have failed with a similar myopic Groupthink because its a stigma that does not help anyone.

This chama has put police in a very awkward position, what do they tell the opposition when they request for a permit for a rally today, it’s not yet campaign period, chama went to inspect developmental projects in matero? It’s a long time since i attended a political rally, ba UPND tampeniko ama rally kaili naimwe.
@ Divide And Rule the police will do nothing to Chama and other PF officials that were campaigning in Matero but when any of the opposition parties want to hold a rally for its members the police will move in to arrest or disperse them using the principle of “two wrongs don’t make a right” justifying that Chama had a permit which they are not obliged to show. As PF owns ZNBC quoting Kambwili so it goes that PF owns Zambia Police.

That is what I try to explain to these PF dwibs that there is nothing special about this infrastructure development because any fool can borrow money to build a road or clinic.PF would have had my respect if all this so called infrastructure development was being undertaken from resources raised by GRZ from taxes, mineral royalties etc.As things are now,the PF deserve nothing but our sputum for borrowing irresponsibly in our name and potentially subjecting our children to untold hardships as they repay these s.tu.pid loans in future.
By the way I was in Cairo road yesterday and witnessed the convoys of bus loads that had ferried PF cadres returning from Matero.These chaps are seriously living in fools paradise where they have started to believe their own lies.Those crowds you see in the pics are not Matero residents.Just hungry mongrels ferried from other shanties of Lusaka.
