The United Church of Zambia has cautioned popular comedian Bob Nkosha to stop portraying his character Dorika as a member of the Church’s Women’s group known as Bana KBBK.
In a letter to Nkosha and made available to the media, UCZ General Secretary Reverend Dr. Mulambia Kabonde said the Church is dismayed and disappointed that Nkosha’s comedy act Dorika is now donning the KBBK uniform on stage.
Below is Rev. Kabonde’s letter
WE HAVE observed with utter dismay and disappointment at the picture which appeared in the Zambia Daily Mail Vol. 20 No. 31 dated Friday, February 5, 2016 in which Mr Bob Nkosha was seen wearing a Women Christian Fellowship uniform whilst performing at Lusaka Play House.
We would like to inform the general public and Mr Nkosha in particular that the uniform in question is sacred and is not used by unauthorised persons, let alone for fun or fundraising purposes as has been done by Mr Nkosha.

Calling that uniform “sacred” is utter blasphemy. I know former and current prostitutes who wear that uniform. Perhaps those are the people you should start with.
The french football assoviation warned it’s players in criminal activities that the national jersey is SACRED, not to be worn by players involved in crime.
I agree with the GS. People must start to respect other’s religious beliefs. It’s an insult for Bob to make fun of this attire. The disrespect of religion such as Islam is causing massive atrocities. You can’t be making cartoons of someone else god and expect to get away with it. Bob as a Christian should know better. In Syria, he would have his head publicly cut off. He needs to look for better things to do!
I suggest that Nkosha can don Catholic Womens League uniform instead just like that hhule Mumbwe Phiri. Catholics are not that choosy.
If it was Leon Schuster, Tyler Perry, Ukwa or Jim Carrey wearing the uniform we would all be laughing, but now that its a zambian jealous nuu. Just talk to Bob to pay some royalty if its under patent. The ‘sacred’ talk is all bullsh!t.

What a waste of space this reverend is. How does an apparel become sacred over symbolism? I despair to imagine we still have such mindsets! There are spoofs and comedies about the pope and others; some even make fanatics riot! But hey, lighten up and take a chill pill. Thumbs up ‘Dorika’!
Bob tries too hard to be Media (Tyler Perry). Not that I care about the UCZ ugly uniform. Its just a piece of cloth with no connection to heaven, Jesus or God. Africans in general take this religion thing too serious. We need to allow for diversity in thinking and action. If Christians can make fun of Hindu, Islam and other religions, what makes them think theirs is joke-proof?
The Rev is right. We accept jokes but not on anything. He should cease. You ‘ve already said a former prostitute which means that there are not the same. Even the military uniform which is used in physical warfare is not allowed 2 used by civilians. Bob should behave or #DORIKAWILLFALL
It is only in Zambia where you take things waaaay too seriously, that is why you even designate camouflage only to the military. God is not interested in someone’s uniform. He ‘s rather interested in someone’s heart and inner purity. See what Jesus said about the pharisees and their dressing hypocrisy (Matthew 23:5ff). Ever wonder why Jesus and his disciples wore no uniforms? If the uniform is trademarked then they can seek a restraining order against him. If it’s NOT a registered trademark, there’s absolutely nothing they can do about it. If they tried to sue him, they would lose. So understand that if he decides NOT to stop wearing it, there’s nothing you can do about it.
I think any man who wears women’s clothes for fun, work or otherwise is a disgrace among men because those are GAY tendencies. pull up your skirt Bob.
Its very disappointing to see Ba Bob Nkosha do such a thing. The Uniform has been set apart for Holy use and its wrong for this man to wear it. The best thing Mr Nkosha has to do is to apologize and stop performing in the sacred uniform otherwise we will deal with him.
Dorika has just run out off jokes. Am sure he is calling this new act “creativity”

the uniform has been used before in various plays and acts and has not recieve such ill feelings. the difference with this one is the character her self Dorika. Dorika is a semi prostitute and semi illiterate who loves very high life. she also has colloquial language most of it street. am not sure how she was potrayed when she wore the uniform. nonetheless, that description of Dorika and the uniform does not just appeal to UCZ, that is where the GS and a number of people are not comfortable with. maybe ba BOB needed counsel from the GS in confidence since i am certain ba Bob is a UCZ member and has always been; unless he changed. ba Bob is not the one who published those photos. but ba GS also, we have seen american films use the catholic uniform where the nuns do nasty acts like…

looking at it with a clear mind i think Bob is wrong. That uniform is used to identify women of a certain Christian group and him putting on it while performing the carector of Dorika sends different massages to different people over this woman Christian group. we have mothers n gran mothers (respected) in those groups.

In my opinion we should ban religion in Africa and promote science, because if people believed in science the same way we believe in religion we will be the fastest growing( economically) on the planet. Instead of prophets, will have inventors, instead of preachers will have entrepreneurs. You wanna develop this is how you start. Religion benefits nobody?

I think those are just clothes. and any one is free to use them unless the UCZ has patented them with PACRA. I am a Member of the UCZ. What I know is that it is only recognised as uniform when there is a UCZ w c f Badge on it otherwise any one is free to make the kind of attire and wear it even at a kitchen party.

I beg to disagree with the doc. How does a dress code become sacred? The attire being depicted by Mukosha is just a cloth and UCZ has not even registered the combination of the dress code with PACRA as patent for them to start screaming at people who are using the attire for sensual purposes.
This is the problem I have with some churches where the cloth is revered more than Jesus as a result people start respecting the attire than Jesus.
What should concern you is the spiritual standing of your members and not the use of the attire which is just a dress code.
Bob Nkosha is offside. Remember calling someone Dorika in Parliament caused a big problem mainly because Bob himself has portrayed Dorika to be a prostitute in his many previous acts. Therefore Bob wearing the UCZ women uniform while acting as Dorika implies that he Bob sees/or was sending a message that UCZ women that wear that uniform are prostitutes. Acting in any uniform is not an issue as long as it does not send a wrong message. Sadly in this instance a wrong message has been sent for which Bob needs to apologise.
Before we blow this out of proportion – we need to ask ourselves the context in which the red, black and white material was worn by Bob. What was he acting on? What story was he trying to tell? Could it be he was evangelizing? If we are saying he used it in a prostitute’s role or drunkard woman, could it be he was telling us that they are ‘those’ women who were this uniform but still do things of the world? Well for me, the message I get is that for me to wear this uniform I must first of all wear Christ in my heart. This is a wake up call for all practicing Christians to carry Christ all times whether be in Uniform or just other types of apparel. The uniform will take no one to heaven. No it won’t.

Holier than thou mentality is very bad for humanity. There is nothing sacred under the sun and only meant to hoodwink people’s thinking. We must let people express themselves how they feel, surely Dorika is merely an entertainer and poses no threat in wearing that uniform. If Bob was portraying the real life of the KBBKs, I see nothing wrong with this. I would be sad to see him portraying the negative life on Christ. KBBKs are human being, and some of them do NOT live as good models!
