It’s total Day Dreaming for UPND to claim they gained ground on the Copperbelt

“NAMULAMBE was helped by PF to become MP, without PF he would not be what he is now; so if he says we should go kneeling to him then we are saying let us meet in the battlefield and see who is stronger,” says Patriotic Front (PF) Copperbelt chairman Steven Kainga.

Reacting to the recent decision of Mpongwe Member of Parliament Gabriel Namulambe to join the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND), Mr Kainga said that the parliamentarian had for some time de-campaigned the ruling PF.
He said Mr Namulambe was not a “deciding factor in Lambaland” and that the PF was not in any way intimidated by his departure.

‘’Honourable Namulambe is not Lambaland, for him to be called ‘honorable’ today it is because of the PF; we helped him to become who he is now. Namulambe is not a factor which should worry us, ‘’ Mr Kainga said.

The chairman said the Mpongwe MP had once asked for water at a function in Ndola Rural to demonstrate that he had washed his hands of the PF but the ruling party had continued to prosper.

He added that he campaigned against Masaiti MP Michael Katambo but the party still defeated the opposition UPND in the by-election.

“Namulambe at one point asked for water at one of the functions ….saying ‘I have washed my hands off the PF’ but ever since that time we have been watching and we have been winning; he was one person who was de-campaigning honorable Katambo in Masaiti , but we walloped them.

“So if he thinks he will win these coming elections in UPND, let him do what he thinks is right; we will meet him in the field,” he said.

Mr Kainga said it was “total day dreaming” for the UPND to claim that they had gained ground in the Copperbelt Province.
He said the information from the UPND Copperbelt chairman Elisha Matambo that a lot of PF members had defected to the opposition party was false.

‘’To claim that the UPND is gaining ground in the Copperbelt is daydreaming; recently we have won elections there including the by-elections in Masaiti and other places in the Copperbelt. So if one can say they are gaining ground how are they determining that? For us we can say we have won this and that but for them how will they convince the people? ‘’

He said UPND gaining ground on the Copperbelt was a non-starter as the region was a PF ‘‘bedroom’’.

He added that the party structures in the province were intact and the PF had continued to gain strength.

‘’So the issue of gaining ground in Copperbelt is a non-starter for the UPND because Copperbelt is the bedroom for PF; so we are still firm and all of our structures in the province are ok, no one has defected to the UPND.

“Let him show us evidence. We are commanding, the other time we were in Mufulira we received 300 supporters. It’s only that the rally didn’t take place because we would have shown him what we mean and what we are doing in the Copperbelt,’’ Mr Kainga said.

  1. Get ready people it appears this time around there could be a power change but are the new people ready to free the Zambian people from many challenge. Moving out a government is one issue and working for the people is another. Am just saying get ready in all spheres.

    • @hh techilema

Actually, if you would be honest and objective it is the PF supporters that do not address the issues raised, and are the insulters! Admittedly they are in the minority here on LT, but of that minority most of them are insulters.

I find that the declared supporters of UPND generally comment on the issues at hand.

So I have made a quick survey.

Of all comments 69% show support for one party or another. The remaining 31% are neutral or undecided.

Of those showing party support 67% are UPND and 11% PF, the balance support minor parties.

Of the comments I deem insulting and/or irrelevant within those percentages, UPND supporters produced 27%. Within PF supporters nearly 92% were insulting or irrelevant…

    • I like your comment but don’t think like a Copperstone Graduate.Remember this site was largely PF before and after September 2011.So what has changed now?I will assist you. What has changed is poor economic performance under PF,undemocratic tendencies, mediocrity being introduced into national politics by the likes of Kambwili etc.And now your cadre claims you still have control of CB.You are in for a rude shock.Remember you won 2015 elections by less than2% and since then things have gotten worse.Be worried,be very worried.

    • I have always said that whatever PF minions say the direct opposite is the opposite truth.

This violent refusal that UPND has not penetrated Copper belt is a blatant admission that PF is scared of UPND ‘s growing popularity in the CB.

      Viva UPND and HH team

    • PF, those are just kicks of a dying horse. Lambaland is gone and now out of reach for you. Very sorry indeed. I bet you are finished.

    • @HHTECH
You are correct. Copy and paste is another virus on this site with nonsense compilations. This site has ‘funny’ voting buttons and most UPND work in groups on comments. They are organised misinformation activists. Sometimes they suppress comments on topics if they want to give an idea that the subject is correct. It’s mainly nuisance entertainment value, but is very manipulating as to give an image of non bias. It is effectively been turned into an HH project. Take heart and post to bring some balance to the cacophonous noises here and don’t take personal comments to heart as some bloggers live next door to you as I found! Usually they blog lies to put you off.

    • @HH Techilema it has become boring at ZWD because the comments are one sided and hence they have descended on LT……..but don’t worry, they’ll soon disappear to lick there wounds like they did in 2011.

    • @ # 1.1

I fully agree with you. Your presence is evidence on how low LT has fallen and your “contributions” (more likely ranting) are evidence of your genetic 1mbecility.

  2. I have been there long enough and I have heard these things each time a party is about to collapse, UNIP,MMD and now history is about to repeat itself on P F …

  3. UPND cadres dream a lot.copperbelt is a bemba speaking area where PF is very rooted!!their HH cannot construct a single sentence in bemba, then HH is a man who took part in selling mines-causing great suffering on CB!!SO COME RAIN,COME THUNDER,PF WILL COME OUT FIRST IN LUSAKA AND COPPERBELT TOO!!

    • Bembas, Bembas and you aint even a Bemba yourself. Anyway you are childish and you will swallow your words in August. Mwanawasa lost both Lusaka and Cb but he was elected president! Can you remember? O sorry you are a tokie

    • copperbelt is not Zambia and your issue of pointing out Bembas as tribal is not good. You mean a bemba cannot vote for another party except PF even when we are driven into this mess by PF. Watch me iam a Bemba on the copperbelt and I will vote UPND. Will I eat your lies and incompetency after all I have been subjected into by this govt of retards?

    • Imagine just imagine
Maybe those stupid retrenched miners will vote PF.But forget about Lusaka.Follow the news have you seen or heard any of these Pathetic Failure MPs making noise in Lusaka? We know that most of them are jostling to stand in Rural Areas but unfortunately for them hunger is everywhere. They survived humiliation in January 2015 courtesy of a sympathy vote, but there Edgar has since gone back to PF vomit-MMD.That is why he is always talking about winning the elections, it is a sign of panic. If all was well he would have concentrated on talking about real issues but the man is concentrating on assuring himself that he will win.

    • @Eddy! Will my children eat tribalism? Hell No!Hichilema’s tribe does not matter! What is at stake is the very economic survival of Zambia and all you can talk about is tribe? Iam from CB & Iam voting for HH. Be assured PF is gone on the Copperbelt! DF has further reduced your numbers!

    • So UPND cadres think their party will bring food on your table?Think again!UPND will not feed you,you have to work hard to order to fullfill your dreams. How does your god look after his farm workers?Politicians are all the same.Ichikwanka bachimwena kumampalanya.

  4. 50 years since independence poverty , load shedding, corruption, poor health facilities, drop in education system. Keep on voting things in Africa will still be the some , Ghana took independence in the 50s but it still one of the poorest countries on earth. Please this generation we need to change how this some corrupt leaders behaviour.

  5. This man is dreaming. It was easy to win a bye election because the entire government machinery was concentrated in one constituency. But watch out for the general election where you cannot concentrate the entire government machinery in one area.

  6. Economy is useless in Zed but still got 500 cabinet ministers, this is how corruption will never finish. Own this politices behave like monkeys or prostitutes, I don’t blame them because of poverty. Lungu goes to France and Mumbi phiri and kazeri Zulu follows tickets got from TAX money. How would corruption end of the head of government is corrupt .

  7. BaJacob has PF ruled for 50 years? Tell us problems which lungu has created in his one year. HH has hurt more zambians than lungu. Talk about failure to hold a convention for 15 years now and selling our companies and pocketed money. These are some of real issues which HH needs to thtow some light upon.

    • Ba Pakaya
I advise you to enjoy yourself to the limit for the next 5 months. No useless rhetoric will bring food to my childrens table. On 8/11 we are voting with our stomachs. So enjoy it while it lasts so that you don’t regret when you are in jail.

  8. Eddy you will be shocked, people have lost jobs, universities closed, suffering skyrocketed on the Copperbelt promise you, that stronghold will go down because people will remember the hardships PF has put them through

    • The hardship you think will finish with HH?What a joke.UPND cadres have regrouped on Lusaka Times and we know they always win on such fora.Am a retrenched miner myself and my other colleagues will vote for PF because HH will not change NOTHING!He has no control on the price of copper he does not own the mines so ?????????????

  9. Anyone who leaves PF is regarded as “Not a Factor”. Who is a factor then? Even you ba Steven Kainga, oneday you decide to leave PF, someone within PF will say you are not a factor despite all the efforts you have put in to mobilise the PF party on the C/Belt. Is their no better way of dealing with those who have decided to defect to other political parties? Politics in today’s world is about numbers- those considered factors and those considered non factors put together become a multitude of supporters.

  10. All lungu and MMD need to do is to adopt only candidates who are popular. The more popular the candidate is the more votes lungu will have. lungu should start preparing minds of those mps who may not be adopted. They should count it blessing that we voted them. its time to suport their friends the way we suported them.

    • Assage
Nonsense ichalo chile nunkafye insala you are in for a rud shock. What popular persons?Kambwili,Chitotela,Kapata? You guys lost it you had an opportunity to do well.MMD left you a prosperous nation. You have managed to destroy it.At least if you could accept your faults we would have given you a benefit of the doubt for continuity s sake. But according to you and your dull Copperstone University graduate it is global. So if voted back you will continue with your incompetence and blame “GLOBAL”

  11. There is no need to preempt Copperbelt’s political database as six months from today, boys will be separated from men. Outrightly. time will tell.

  12. Namulambe just defected to PF under influence of Michael Sata. He was MMD Mp for Mpongwe before he crossed to PF with the hope of destabilising MMD. HH 2016

  13. Being a Party Member should be based on personal conviction by that person and not based on where an opportunity lies to fill one`s belly.
This is the problem with these Zambian Political prostitutes, always moving from one party to another.

Suggestion: An MP who switches over to another party, should be stripped off as an MP, as he was voted based on the former Party`s ticket. Doing this will stop or at least reduce the number of these opportunists moving from one party to another.
Again, this applies to any Zambian Party

    • @general Kanene I think it is there in newly signed constitution. Such a person cannot contest in the bye-election that arises from their resignation. It will certainly reduce crossing of floors to the ruling party to distabilise the opposition though some one expelled keeps his seat till the courts rule.

  14. Chinad@ Those problems are being experienced in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria which changed govt very recentry, Angola, South Africa and Tanzania just to mention a few. Job loses in mining Australia, Canada and chile. Are you saying all these countries are ruled by lungu and PF? learn to face realities if Zambia is to be saved. MUKASHA NEYO MWIPEYE

    • @Pakaya,that is correct but these are the issues the Ministers are supposed to bring out to the electorate. They need to compile figures with regard to this issue and show how Zambia fits with happenings in other countries in stead of just shouting “It is global,it is global..!!” Global what?? Why can’t you put the global to the Zambian context and engage your electorate in good time explaining why such pain is inflicted on them and how as govt you are trying to help them to cope?? These PF Ministers are a complete let down,no wonder Sata called them useless!

    • Ba PAkaya
please are you a brother to Kambwili?Your reasoning suggests so.For your information the kwacha is the worst performing currency IN THE WORLD.What better evidence do you want of PF incompetency?Inflation has spiralled out of control, our debt has swelled. What more do you want to point at?Very soon global economy will pick up before 8/11.What will be your next excuse.Remeber the story in the bible of a wise man and a foolish man?One built his house on rock the other on sand, when the rain came the foolish man s house was washed away.Botswana is reducing fuel prices in the midst of “global” whilst Kambwili and Lungu continue blaming “global”.Same global conditions but f00lishness in the case of PF

    • @pakaya. Do you know that the new in Govt in Nigeria has recovered Two Trillion US Dollars? So, change of Govt can be good! I think we should try it here. Maybe we can recover some of the money stolen thru road contracts where a road costs $2 million dollars per Km instead of $400,000 per Km!

    • You are right we need to recover money from those who dubiously sold companies to themselves.kkki.talk of shooting oneself in the foot!

  15. camps have been created. There are those who are for HH,Edgar, undecided and those for other opposition groups. The later and the former need to contest for the votes from the undecided and other opposition groups. The undecided are basing their reasoning on the fact that they dont like HH neither do they like Edgar. It is up to UPND and PF to tailor their opposition in such away that they convince the undecided to cast a vote for them. The undecided mostly are those who are frustrated. In most cases, they contribute to voter apathy. They feel all politicians are liars and are cut from the same cloth of deceiption. In a nutshell, they have lost confidence in the electoral system. They need to be revived politically for them to cast a vote.

  16. I don’t like namulambe personally but he seems to be reading the direction of the wind… He is just being a good politician…the BOAT has so many holes since its captain passed on! Good luck to all the contenders.

    • Mphendula Kayula
tell them. The worst thing that happened to Zambia is Sata the illiterate dictator being voted into office and we are all collectively responsible.Edgar is just a by the way who has failed to market himself and he thinks we will eat humbleness. To make it worse he has appointed the most incompetent government spokesperson in sub sahara Africa and just belives in miracles. He says he will win because he thinks so.PATHETIC.

  17. The pF and ECL have been calling for an alliance with the MMD and in my view it shows PF made a mistake to remove the MMD frm the Power thats the reason they still want to steal together and bring our country down.UPND is ready for the battle.Let the PF show its popularity in Coperbelt where the failed miners walop in hunger and they are even failing to pay for the school fees, everything is expensive because of the current government.

  18. Despite being cosmopolitan the average (I repeat average) CB voter doesn’t think beyond certain parameters. Typical example is #eddy @ #4. A Lusaka sophisticated (I repeat sophisticated) voter will vote for any incumbent crook as long as the candidate allows the voter to also steal.
That’s the paradox of the Zambian cosmopolitan voter.

  19. UPND are living in a fantasy world, led by their use less (HH). Only PF has gained ground over the last 5 years. Let these use less minions like Namulambe join the hopeless UPND. (HH) to retire soon. The muggot

  20. Not so long ago ben ali thought Tunisia was is bedroom, Gaddafi thought Libya was is kitchen, hosin mubarak thought Egypt was is couch, a simple Street vendor in Tunisia had an altercation with city authorities, BANG! All these GIANTS were all sent into political abyss, these guys were even bigger than pf and mmd combined, they were internationally recognized. What is pf?

  21. Namulambe is Judas Iscariot. From RB’s campaign manager to being star witness in the removal of RB’s immunity! who can trust you mwisho! You go for the highest bidder. Sata offered you deputy minister to betray RB. Edgar is clever, no traitors in his inner circle

  22. Ba Kainga you are day dreaming about Copperbelt because there is no pf as it used to be.It is finished you are giving ba chagwa false impressions.

  23. Pakaya such problems will always be there what is important is to know how to navigate through.Obama has done it USA the economy is strong.During RB we had the credit crunch but he managed ,so was Mwanawasa .But Lungu awe he is just a joke of a president. He extremely slow in thinking, weak and corrupt .

  24. Typical of PF arrogance. Namulambe enabled you gain a foothold of Lambaland. You treated him like trash. He left. Look who is crying now?

    • Thank you for putting correct facts.

As for a bye election; it’s almost impossible for opposition to win as the entire government machinery and treasury is at ruling party beck and call to corrupt and literally buy votes. There is also the psychology of wanting to be identified with present ruling group. It’s only in strong willed communities that the party in govt is defeated like in Eastern, North Western, Central and Western Provinces!

What do you expect the electorate to do when the Republican President and Chief Cashier cum Fund Allocater threatens to starve a population of food, medicines, development unless they vote for his party?

People are smart…in a bye election they will vote for ruling party just to survive and carry the grudge to tripartite elections! I saw…

    • At first I was misled into thinking that you were one of the few bright lights of objectivity on this page. Little did I know that you were one of those duplicitous and deceptive UPND types. I am so profoundly disappointed by you

      .

  25. People are smart…in a bye election they will vote for ruling party just to survive and carry the grudge to tripartite elections! I saw this when the once mighty UNIP and MMD were humiliated despite almost impregnable strongholds before tripartite.

Of the truth, it’s only opposition parties that can claim to have strongholds in face of literal hostility and conspiracy by ruling party and Govt machinery that includes Piolice, OP

  26. UPND has always won on blogs and doctored opinion polls since 2006 but come d-day, the story is always opposite. You fail to accept that your undoing has been your tribal thinking. What you should know is that less than 11% of Zambians ever follow these rubbish and organised postings on Muvi and these useless platforms to be influenced by your analysis and comments. I can assure you come 8/11 HH is dustbin material. The same thinking and tribal voting you have exhibited will now be exercised across Zambia and you will test your medicine. On paper and social media you have always won!! Watch this space. Kambwili was spot on to tell you who you are!! The truth pains.

    • Chiota Chipya
I hope you are a Lungu adviser. You won by less than 2 % in January 2011 when things were not as bad as today and before you embraced Dora and other hypochrites Come 2011 as a bemba I will vote your so called tribal HH.Better vote for a person who will give me hope and survival than pipo who have brought economic misery.

  27. If Zambians on the copperbelt want PF, let them continue! Balibelela ukuchula! They will feed their families on Bemba tribe.

  28. If Zambians on the copperbelt want PF, let them continue! Balibelela ukuchula! They will feed their families on Bemba tribe…

  29. Whoever moves away from pf is a not a factor. At one point most people will move away but they will not be factors. Let’s wait and see.

  30. mailon,
Do you think PF is a worying party as the rest of the opposition??
Think again my friend ….this time deeper. Anyway you really have a reason to worry……
The problem you are all opposition suffering from is “fear of your own disorganized small individual parties” This is due to the fact that Sata did it thinking….what a pity.

  31. @mailon there are some factors that made ECL win by that small margin. 1) The elections where in the rainy season and most pipo in PF strong olds where it always rains were eigther out in the fields or were descouraged by rains while the pipo of SP where there is always scant rainfall went all out to vote for their tribes man, 2) PF at that moment had put off a lot of their supporters because of the bickering that was there so a lot did not vote, but watchout for this coming election PF strongholds will vote the Nega Nega way like their SP counterparts did so it will be a white wash for HH.

  32. I am in utter shock at how very few pro-PF comments there are, and how many pro-UPND supporting comments there are…………

  33. Too much poverty here in Mansa brought by Lungu and Kalaba. Here in Bahati ,we ve resolved to vote for HH and Upnd.We want to kick out hunger on 11th August by voting HH.In senama, kabuta, spark, kapanda, chofoshi, matanda, kabunda, matelo, bukotelo, mwanachama and other surrounding areas in Bahati, its Upnd. We serious want change, there is no way we can be bbuying 2kg sugar at K30:00
