Government has warned that all perpetrators of the violence that occurred in Bweengwa in Monze district over the weekend will not escape the long arm of the law.

Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili said the act is criminal, barbaric and incompatible with the country’s democratic dispensation which espouses unity and co-existence in diversity.

Mr. Kambwili who is also Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services said the violence perpetrated by the alleged United Party for National Development (UPND) carders in Bweengwa should be condemned with the contempt it deserves.

The Minister said this in a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today following the attack and holding captive of a convoy of government vehicles and officers including a ZANIS media crew in Bweengwa over the weekend by suspected UPND Carders.

And Mr. Kambwili said government is disappointed and holds the UPND liable for the Bweengwa violence which occurred over the weekend.

Mr. Kambwili said government’s conviction about the perpetrators of the violence being UPND is supported by the statement by UPND member Douglass Syakalima in today Post newspaper where he has endorsed the Bweengwa violence.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kambwili said competition for political office should be on merit and issue based and not through violence, tribalism regionalism or any other consideration.

Mr. Kambwili has since urged Zambians to reject political parties that believe in violence saying the nation has enjoyed peace for over 50 years which should not be sacrificed by selfish motives of few disgruntled and misguided individuals.

  1. Selective justice, why is this “hippo” more interested in justice now when in the past he had a blind eye to the criminal misdeeds of his….pathetic fools(PF)

    • To try and cot Kambwili to any political party or alliance is naive. Then again OA is naive from top to bottom. KAMBWILI is a liability to any political party and is to be distanced with. OA is not under 5, it’s under 3 political ‘alliance’. It’s not even an alliance it’s a group of people masquerading as politicians. They are a reservoir of some people that may be useful for other uses.

  2. has anybody seen any picture or video of the violence? we saw what happened in choma, ndola, MMD lusaka and we are able to access intelligently, bweengwa had adequate media coverage but we have not yet seen any pictures or videos. Post something please.

  3. Ohh please what a lousy “Hippo-crite” he is!! How about the many violent acts he’s been sponsoring? and how about using the police to clobber political opponents

  4. Kambwili, now that most Zambians have lost confidence in you due to your skewed rants, go & lose some weight while we at it damiit!

  5. I actually praised Kambwili for his statement he posted on Facebook earlier today where he condemned all forms of violence including the attack on Miles Sampa. But this ZANIS report seems to be off tangent to the former.

  6. This whole story is confusing. The abducted Govt officials and PF Cadres were rescued by the Police, how did the police fail to condone the area to arrest the culprits that same day?
On violence, both HH and ECL must condemn and tame their cadres and ensure that Police are given full authority to deal with any cadre causing violence.
Those of us who are not into politics are now living in fear in our own country. We do not want to go back to the time Kaunda introduced Vigilantes, who terrorised innocent citizens.

    • Poor reasoning we are o
Not at war to guarding every where and same people who will complaining one chief blamed the plateau Tonga’s for the lundu also said they were peaceful

  7. Thickneck is right on one thing. We are determined to kick out perpetrators of violence & we know them.
We also know that this incidence was stage managed. Where are the people who were abducted? With this excitement we would have seen at least the Zanis guy on TV telling us his ordeal.
If we can’t live together we surely can live apart. Unity is by choice not by coercion.

  8. orangutan gorilla kambwili as usual mating in the early hours and then moving about for 4 to 5 hours and then late in the afternoons making sounds to annoy foes and attract members of the opposite (sex)oh opposition

  9. Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni once said leaders who “overstayed” in power were the root of Africa’s problems, but 30 years later he is aiming for a fifth term.

  10. Man without neck and head always clueless brainless, useless and dull as his visionless friend lungu Kaloba chakolwa.

  11. That is good Mr. Kambwili, BUT what about those who breached Airport security in Ndola? What have you done to them?????

  12. We saw pictures of tipper trucks of PF attackers at Ndola Airport and unless I was sleeping I have not heard of any arrests so where is this incompetent government going to find the attackers from Bweengwa? The police have already said it was at night and they couldn’t see kikiki
