Kabushi Member of Parliament aspirant Bowman Lusambo says young people are ready to take over the leadership of the country.

Mr Lusambo said young people in the country must be given chance to take up leadership positions in the as they are ready to add value to the development of the nation.

He said it is high time that youths were not only used and left outside once elections are over but that they should be party of the leadership themselves.

“For us as young men and women I think we are ready to add value to the development of this country. We have escorted a lot of Presidents to State House and after using us immediately they are elected to the most powerful office we remain at the gets and whatever contribution we made they forgot,” he said.

And Mr Lusambo has praised the PF leadership for giving women a chance to effectively participate in the governance of the country.

He said women should stand up and be counted as they have been given a chance to take up elective positions with the pronouncement that 40% of the adoptions will go to women.

He said for a long time women have been taken to be mothers and those who take care of the needs of homes but that the PF has proved that women are also capable of effectively participating in running the affairs of the country.

He also called on the youths in the country to support President Lungu as he has proved that he is willing to embrace the youths and women in his leadership.

Mr Lusambo was speaking when he featured on the Hot Seat radio program on Hot FM radio on Thursday.

  1. Bowman ati `us young people` iwe with too much insele in your mouth ati young,,,,,, leave U23 team, U20 team alone,, yes those are you,,,, Bowman, kambwili, mumbi phiri ,,, those are senior team

  2. Why not just say “I am ready to add value…” Which young people are you representing and why should you speak for them? If you really have something to offer as a young leader, then the first thing you need is confidence to say so, but if not then you are not worthy to take up the challenge.

  3. When you have leaders in power who die on the throne, the youth have no chance but I understand his sentiment! The youth of today are very smart and add the fact that they are tech savvy, Zambian government need to have more opportunities for them ie apprenticeships in construction, engineering so we don’t have to keep paying millions to outsiders when we can train these kids for the same jobs and keep the money here and improve their livelihoods but we have too many corrupt old farts in power! Africa is a rich continent but corruption and the weakness of our leaders in negotiation for better deals business wise in foreign affairs is our downfall, more money go out of Zambia than coming in haha and don’t tell me about owing money to the IMF, if we had better negotiators we wouldn’t be…
