MMD President Nevers Mumba says the resignation of his 11 parliamentarians is a relief to the party.
Dr. Mumba says 10 of the parliamentarians are the same persons that supported the UPND in the January 20, 2015 presidential elections and there move does not mean anything to the party.
He told ZNBC News in Lusaka today that the 11 parliamentarians were already rejected together with the UPND in the previous elections and their union will not change the political landscape in the country.
Dr. Mumba reminded the 11 parliamentarians that Zambians will judge and vote against them together with the UPND in the August 11 general election.
He said the departure of the 11 members is insignificant and that their move leaves room for genuine MMD members to contest their seats.
Dr. Mumba said the MMD is still strong in Western and North Western provinces with a high chance of returning the seats.
Eleven MMD MPs on Monday defected to the UPND.
I wonder who was rejected between and UPND and MMD in 2015 if UPND had more votes than MMD and UPND did better than ever?

I sympathise with the good Dr, if you were in position how would you deal with all this mess surrounding him? We all know he doesn’t have weaith to talk to about, he’s probably digging himself a grave financially but he’s powerless to look in the mirror and say to himself enough is enough I’m done. His wife needs to drag aside him and tell him a few home truths because on his own he’s incapable of making sound decisions, the lure of power and has mula tainted his judgment.

Truth be told: Dr. Mumba has failed as leader of MMD. It was a serious lack of principle and serious opportunism for Dr. Mumba to have decided to back PF, a party MMD claimed had destroyed the Zambian economy. For real PF has destroyed the economy. So Dr. Mumba wants PF to continue mismanaging the economy? MMD, as a party is finished. After Aug 11, 2016, MMD will be like UNIP. Watch the space! Zambians are angry and they are right! Loosing those 11 tribal traitors is a blessing for MMD. An opportunity to reorganize and link up with PF to wallop them and consign them to the tribal cartel of history to which they belong. They never accepted Nevers from the beginning and always aligned themselves to their tribal shonongo leader. Nevers should be celebrating.
