BISHOP Simon Chihana has adopted a sacrilegious role of being a merchant of hate and virulent speech against President Edgar Lungu and should quit the pulpit so that he could effectively propagate the propaganda for his pay masters in the opposition political parties, the Patriotic Front (PF) has charged.

PF Lusaka Province youth chairman Kennedy Kamba said Bishop Chihana was nothing but a hired gun serving the interest of the opposition and it was not surprising that he was being used to disparage President Lungu.

Mr Kamba said while the PF was reluctant to comment on the attacks against President by Bishop Chihana, it was regrettable that the man in the collar was being used to propagate hate messages against the leadership of the country.

Bishop Chihana who is International Fellowship of Christian Churches (IFCC) president has embarked on a campaign to malign President Lungu for closely interacting with citizens during the handing over of police houses to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Bishop Chihana was yesterday quoted in the Post Newspaper demeaning President Lungu by alleging that the Head of State was suffering from midlife crisis, a statement Mr Kamba said had annoyed the PF.

Mr Kamba said the IFCC president was morally incompetent to criticise President Lungu considering that he was just coming from a background of social challenges.

“We are appalled as the PF that Bishop Chihana has accepted to be hired as a merchant of hate speech by his pay masters in the opposition. He has chosen to demean President Lungu who has taken the presidency close to the people he is governing. We expect men of God like Bishop to be preaching peace as the country is going towards the general elections but he has turned himself into hired gun by the opposition to slander President Lungu. It is not morally and religious correct and we are not happy,” Mr Kamba said.

He said Bishop Chihana had a history of choosing to be used for the wrong reasons by politicians and that the IFCC president had become discredited because of his desire to sow seeds of hatred among citizens.

Mr Kamba said the PF was proud to have President Lungu who had proved that he was physically and mentally fit and would be able to energetically govern the country for the next five years after renewing his mandate in the August general elections.

“When President Lungu fell ill, they (opposition) celebrated because in their evil thinking, they thought they had a chance to take over the governance of the country. Now President Lungu has demonstrated that he is as fit as a fiddle, they are maligning and disparaging him. We are aware that Bishop Chihana is not new in such kind of acts but we ecclesiastically ask him to refrain from attacking President and allow him to govern,” Mr Kamba said.

    • But PF are happy with Bishop Joshua Banda’s statements against HH! Is it because Bishop Chihana is a no nonsense man and keeps hitting hard on their balls??

    • Was this not the man who commandeered and accompanied a regiment of PF cadres on Youthday to make a point that if you were not in PF regalia in front of the Vice President you deserved to be beaten and undressed? Good morals are not elastic. Check the log in your eye, before you point to a speck in others.

We WILL ALL WANT TO REMEMBER Late Bishop Duffy, who served the poor people of western province & Zambia as a whole, WITH NO FEAR NOR FAVOUR but with enormous distinction, for his parish!! May his soul rest in peace!!

I believe any honest member of the clergy would live & feel the pain & tribulations that his flock are suffering – Bishop Chihana is surely a bishop speaking for his people, just like Late bishop Duffy stood by his parish!!

  1. Pass the popcorn. Between now and election day, we will be entertained by any lumpen who can get hold of a microphone and media to publish their nonsense. Men of God are being dragged into the dirt to wrestle with pigs.

  2. Bishop Banda has refuted the story, what kind of people are you who cannot take a no or a clarification for an answer.?

  3. INSTEAD OF LEARNING LEADERSHIP, OUR PRESIDENT ENGAGED IN LEARNING MONKEY TRICKS ROM THE MONKEYS IN STATE HOUSE. KENNEDY KAMBA THINKS THAT IS THE BEST THE PRESIDENT COULD LEARN BUT KAMBA SHOULD KNOW THAT CONDUCT OF THE PRESIDENT WAS EMBARRASSING AND SHAMEFUL TO SAY THE LEAST. THE BEST KAMBA COULD DO IS TO KEEP QUIET ABOUT SO THAT PEOPLE CAN EVENTUALLY FORGET IT, INSTEAD O KEEPING IT ALIVE IN THE MINDS OF PEOPLE AND GET MORE PEOPLE TO LEARN ABOUT IT.

  4. Ninshi you can’t criticize the pres? Criticism will always be there, you just need a strategy on how to filter it

  5. The symptoms of midlife crisis are what we saw with the monkey tricks.PF chaps should just admit that they were equally embarassed by Chagwa’s horseplay.

  6. What BISHOP CHIHANA should know is that he is free to support any one but he is bound to term is tongue as the man of God if truly he is??. Always he should show love even to those he does not support because even some members of his church belong to those he does not support. What our tongue produces has eternal implications, for it reveals what is in our heart. Jesus said that “the good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him” (Matthew 12:35). Isaiah places words on par with actions for displaying a sinful heart (Isaiah 59:2-3). “Men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken” (Matthew 12:36). In and of ourselves, we are utterly unable to “tame the…
