THE United Party for National Development (UPND) has scoffed at a statement by the Patriotic Front (PF) suggesting that it’s vice-president for political affairs Canisius Banda is in need of a financial bailout.
UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma said in an interview yesterday that Dr Banda was financially stable as evidenced by the recent migration into his ‘own house’.
Dr Banda was evicted from a rented house in Lusaka’s Presidential Housing Initiative (PHI) area last week on grounds that he owed the landlord undisclosed amounts of money.
PF member of the central committee Paul Moonga wondered why UPND president Hakainde Hichilema could not come to the aid of Dr Banda following his eviction.
But Mr Kakoma said Dr Banda was on record as having cleared the air on the ‘purported’ eviction, saying the opposition leader had shifted into an abode of his own.
“Dr Banda has already issued a statement on that matter. Did he say he needs any financial bailout? He moved into his own house, he was not evicted, that’s what he said,” Mr Kakoma said.
Dr Banda is also on record accusing the PF of trying to woo him by offering him accommodation and a new vehicle.
So Dr. Banda is a liar in this case. Let him come out in open and say the truth. Was the Dr. evicted or he moved out to his house? Politics????
The man can’t even afford a razor and Lifebuoy, how financially stable can he be?
THEN IN THAT CASE DR CANICIUS BANDA AND UPND ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED IN GOVERNMENT IF THEY CAN START LYING EVEN ON SIMPLE ISSUES SUCH AS RENTALS OF A SIMPLE HOUSE. MOREOVER, DR BANDA IN THAT CASE IS VERY IRRESPONSIBLE TO JUST IGNORE PAYMENT OF RENTALS TO HIS LANDLORD, IF IT IS TRUE HE IS FINANCIALLY STABLE OF WHICH WE DOUBT. ANYWAY, IF THAT’S THE ATTITUDE OF DR BANDA OUT OF GOVERNMENT, THEN YOU KNOW WHAT IS COMING FOR YOU WITH DR BANDA AND UPND IN GOVERNMENT. AT LEAST ZAMBIANS HAVE AN IDEA THAT THEY WILL HAVE, A JUST-DON’T-CARE MINISTERS WHO MAY NOT EVEN BOTHER TO PAY CONTRACTORS EVEN IF MONEY WERE THERE. BE CAREFUL ZAMBIANS
Why does Dr. Banda keep amaso pa kanwa?
He must be arrogant and lawless then. Why would you rent someone’s house and yet fail to meet your obligation until you get evicted. Am sure he moved to his unfinished house which doesn’t even have a roof and windows. He was just waiting for the rains to stop .

A lot of business minded people in lusaka do that, put your bigger houses on rent, then you go and find a comfortable smaller house for rent, i have done that before it’s just good business sense.
Yes. I am doing that also. Its not everyone who rents who doesnt have a house. Just because Edgar Chagwa Lungu is in an institutional house doesnt mean he doesnt have a house of his own. even Frank Bwalya is in a rented house. All ministers and permanent secretaries are in institutional houses.
