First Lady Esther Lungu says people should not view her women empowerment outreach programmes as a political gimmick to campaign for President Edgar Lungu.

The First Lady says the empowerment programme is a genuine venture under her newly created foundation.

Mrs Lungu says the funds that she is giving women’s clubs are purely meant to uplift their living standards.

The First Lady said this when she addressed women in Chief Chitanda’s area in Chibombo district.

Chiefs in Central Province have dispelled assertions that the Lenje speaking people are against the leadership of President Edgar Lungu.

Meanwhile, Senior Chief Mukuni N’gombe Chipepo says traditional leaders and their people are committed to working with the government of President Lungu.

He says the Lenje people are committed to working with the government of the day in bringing about development in their areas.

And Chief Chitanda of Chibombo district says his people will not entertain any political players bent on bringing divisions in the country.

The traditional leaders said this in separate interviews with ZNBC after First Lady Esther Lungu visited their palaces on her continued outreach programmes.

  1. Your excellencey Honourable Esther Lungu, there are many who envy you like Mutinta Hichilema. Pay no attention to these detractors. They don’t mean well. Just continue in humility with your good works. Shame these haters and continue beyond 2016.

    • Where was Esther Lungu before she became first lady? What did she do then, to justify what she is doing now?

    • If you are not campaigning for your husband then you are dumb and everyone else asking you if you are is dumber. Dumb and Dumber!

    • Here’s a litmus test: after August, Zambians will never ever hear about Esther Lungu and her supposedly good works. She will disappear faster than a turd going down the toilet.

    • @1.3 Buck Teeth Lungu, DON’T LET YOUR ENVY, HATE, BITTERNESS, HOPELESSNESS FOR YOUR UNCLE TO OCCUPY PLOT 1 JEALOUS AND SIMPLY BAD HEARTED-NESS BLIND YOU. SOUTHERN PROVINCE ALONE ISN’T THAT BIG ENOUGH TO VOTE OUT ECL AND PF.

    • Empowering people with their own money from your unaccounted husbands slush fund….please sit down silly woman, they accumulate some air miles and they think they are smart…where is Vera, Mrs K. Sata, Mrs . Banda?

    • Stop imitating what MUSHOTA did untill 2014. Try out something of your own, and be naturaly stupid rather than artificially disturbing the sane minds trying to figure out the way forward in these hard times for Zambia

  2. Comment: First lady, even if you just stayed in state house they will still complain. Better ignore that’s all.

  3. Should be a very rich NGO Mama, all the travelling costs and the money being given out, How people forget where they come from so easily surprises me, Not long ago you where in chawama with nothing and then all of a sudden you have more then enough to give to every woman in Zambia. The amount of money you have spent on your travels could put more drugs in hospitals and school books for all our children. Hope you will continue with your charity work when your husband lives state house.

  4. Has there been any speech where have not said: MULI BALUNGU FILECHITIKA. Just enjoy as it lasts Esther. DO NOT INSULT OUR INTELLIGENCE

  5. Matuvi
…..why were you not giving empowerment money before your husband became president .why only this year 2016? Ask Vera,Maureen and Thandiwe if they have the same privilege Bumboclaat!

  6. We Hard-core tribalists are the majority of people behind the UPND party. The tribalism tag cannot be wished way because they the Tonga have created a tribal tag for themselves whether it’s in work places or the communities where they live. Take Mr Magande for example he is the man that sourced funding to persecute bembas and easterners between 2001 and 2008. That agenda has not died; given a chance they will still persecute the two major tribes. Someone needs to apologise.

    • Malambo STFU and you not Tonga. We are a Christian nation and we reject clowns like you. Our new constitution also against tribalists like you hope you burn in hell.

    • @ 1mbecile calling himself “Malambo”

Only 1mbeciles like you desperately hang on “tribalist” hope of success.
Tell us instead from where Mrs. Lungu draws cash to dish out during family campaign? Is it from the smuggling of maize, non accounted proceeds of exported electricity or from the slush funds from the husband organised corruption?

  7. 100% We Hard-core tribalists are the majority of people behind the UPND party. The tribalism tag cannot be wished way because they the Tonga have created a tribal tag for themselves whether it’s in work places or the communities where they live. • Mambo from Mwansabombwe, how about how Sata. Fired all non-bembas from the civil services and replaced them with his tribesmen, took development only to muchinga and turned bemba into the national language? Should I continue to juggle your memory you tribalism? Just as well ecl has sidelined you pipo. Meantime, nice one mama Lungu, beautiful, humble, selfless

  8. Hmmmmm!!!!!!!! Things are happening. And this woman thinks we are too foolish to see what she’s up to. Please!!!!!!

  9. This is all poo poo talk. A total insult to citizens intelligence. At one point I had a whiff of respect for her but this is bul! $h1t . African leaders are too selfish. Plot number 1 is not enough for some selfish souls

  10. How long has PF being in power? Why they didn’t do those programs? We should be deceived.

It’s like you work for a company without getting any salary increments, you tender your resignation then your boss offer you a salary increment# that’s b**s**t and insulting.

PF should go and you need people who are interested in serving the nation. I don’t mind which Party the MP’s will come from but Edgar Lungu should be Zambian president.

  11. They steal money from you and give it back and you are celebrating. That’s what KK used to tell us stupid Zambian because sometimes we easy forget the hardships we have gone through.

  12. At least she is not a wigged lady (putting on vima wigs).
I’m not political, but I take pride in Zambian women’s natural looks.
    Thank you!!

  13. @ASSAGE, Kaunda was not ‘trained’ but he made a good president and while in his forties. Your ‘trained’ man Ukwa, despite all the hype, was the worst of the lot. Not only did he show a lack of fiscal discipline, but he also roped in impunity, heightened corruption, tribalism, foul mouthed name calling and so on. He set the tone for this country’s down ward spiral. One can tell from your postings that you are a mindless cadre.

  14. HoPe FoUnDaTiOn! Maureen MWanaWaSa FoUnDation! TAnDiWe Girl ChilD mAlasIa ScholarSHIp… cHrIsTiNe CanCer FuNd/fIrSt LadY Slush Fund! CHarlottEEE sCoT womeN Soccer! now this????why not stay at home study

  15. Seriously, if Our First Lady was not doing any of this outreach work, then all the negative commentators, would be calling her Lazy and piling on the insults that she did no work. Sadly, Our a First Lady is in the forefront of Society and negative Media will target her. Look at what they say about the UK Royal Family! They get insults from Ingrates all the time.

chin up Ma’am, you are doing the role you should be doing and negative people are really just dealing with their own emotions at seeing you in your stature. One thing though, please lose a bit of weight! We want our beautiful figured mummy of state back, although you do look lovely still!

    • Another thing Ma’am, PLEASE DON’t Feel you HAVE to defend yourself. They will never say anything good about you, regardless because they want your role!
