Police Arrest 23 Year Old Lusaka Man For Defiling 13 Year Old Girl

POLICE have arrested a man of Lusaka’s Eureka Farms, John Nanda ,23, for defiling a girl of the same area aged 13. In a statement, Police assistant public relations officer Esther Mwaata-Katongo stated that the incident happened on April 30, 2016 around 15:00 hours at Eureka Farms. “The suspect had lured the girl into the act on pretext that she was going to be given gum boots from his residence. The suspect was found in the act by the victim’s brother,” Mrs. Mwaata-Katongo stated. She stated that Nanda had been detained and charged with defilement. And Mrs. Mwaata-Katongo stated that a male juvenile aged five months died on the spot while nine others sustained injuries in an accident which happened on April 30, 2016 around 05:00 hours on Great East Road at Ochani area of Eastern province. “The accident happened when the Toyota Regius registration number ALB 962, driven by Fazail Arif aged 22 of Kamwala Township, Lusaka who was driving from Mfuwe to Lusaka with nine passengers on board hit into a cow which suddenly emerged from the bush hence losing control of the motor vehicle and overturned,” she stated. Mrs. Mwaata-Katongo stated that the deceased had been identified as Hussein Muhammed of Lusaka’s Kamwala Township. She stated that the injured who included the driver were rushed to St Francis Mission Hospital while the body of the deceased was in the same hospital mortuary. MeanwhIle Mrs. Mwaata-Katongo stated that in a similar incidence, two juvenile pedestrians died on the spot in an accident which happened on April 30, 2016 around 16:30 hours at Gobodo Farms near Mazimoyo area of Chipata district. “The accident happened when the driver of the Toyota Corolla registration number ALK 7056 lost control due to excessive speed, careered off the road and hit two pedestrians who were off the road. The deceased have been identified as Esther Phiri aged 11 and Sarah Phiri aged 16 both of Chawama section, chief Chinyaku of Chipata District,” she stated. Mrs. Mwaata-Katongo stated that the driver has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and that the bodies of the deceased were in Chipata General Hospital mortuary. And Mrs. Mwaata-Katongo stated that in Lusaka, a first year student at Evelyn Hone college Wilson Mumbi aged 23 of Ngwerere road in Roma died on the spot in a hit and run accident which happened in the early hours of May 1, 2016 around 04:00 hours at Munali Bus stop on Great East Road. “We appeal to members of the public with information about the accident to report to any nearest police station,” stated Mrs. Mwaata-Katongo.

  1. The one that comitted the hit and run accident at Munali must be arrested and dealt with harshly, very unfortunate for a young student to die like that.
