Mighty beat Nakambala as recovery continues

Mighty Mufulira Wanderers recovery in the FAZ Super Division continued on Saturday when they beat Nakambala Leopards 1-0 at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira.

Nchimunya Munene headed in Austin Banda’s free kick in the 44th minute to hand Mighty the three points.

The nine-time champions win was their second on the trot and lifts them from 13th to 8th on 15 points from 13 matches played.

And at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka, ten-man Zanaco moved clear in second place after a 2-0 home win over 12th placed Red Arrows.

Seith Sakala put Zanaco ahead in the 9th minute but they suffered a setback in the 52nd minute when defender Aaron Katebe was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Roderick Kabwe cemented Zanaco’s win when he converted a penalty in the 79th minute.

The win lifts Zanaco from 22 points, where they were tied with 3rd placed Zesco United, to 25 points and shift within one point of Nkana who could extend their advantage on Sunday with a home win over struggling Lumwana Radiants.

In Kabwe, Kabwe Warriors returned to winning ways after a two game drought when they beat Green Eagles 1-0 thanks to a 36th minute goal from Godfrey Ngwenya.
